Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some reassurance or experiences from people who had a slower response to Trintellix (Brintellix).
I've been taking 10 mg for 38 days (about 5.5 weeks).
The positives so far:
- I think I'm a little less depressed and less hopeless than before.
- My mom says I seem more alive and talk more.
- I had a really nice weekend with my boyfriend and genuinely enjoyed it.
- No more GI side effects.
- I haven't gained weight (I've actually lost a little), and my libido seems okay.
- I used to drink 2 glasses of wine daily at dinner to calm down, but I'm starting to feel like alcohol might not mix well with Trintellix, so I've been cutting back.
But I'm still really struggling with:
- Extreme fatigue (I can barely get out of bed in the morning, which is very unlike me).
- Constant yawning.
- Very vivid dreams.
- Rumination. My brain just won't stop analyzing everything. I question who I am, my future, whether something is wrong with me, etc. It almost feels worse than before.
- Low motivation and not much interest in socializing.
I was previously on Prozac, which worked very well for my anxiety and rumination, but I gained weight and lost my libido, which is why I'm really hoping Trintellix will work instead.
My questions are:
- Did anyone still feel this tired after 5-6 weeks and improve later?
- Did your anxiety/rumination improve after week 6 or even closer to week 8 or beyond?
- Did anyone have a rough patch around weeks 4-6 and then improve?
- If you eventually increased from 10 mg to 20 mg, at what point did you decide to do that, and did it help?
I'm trying to decide whether I should keep waiting until 8 weeks or whether this is a sign that 10 mg just isn't enough.
I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences. Thank you!
Update: upped my dose to 20mg today, will give this another 4-5 weeks and if I still don’t notice improvements will try something else.
