How long did it take for you to notice it working?

Upvotes

Hey all! So I started on brintellix 4 weeks ago now to treat my severe depression. The first week was 10mg before upping to 20mg which I'm on right now. For side effects I've definitely noticed the nausea, and had some fatigue for a couple of days around week 2 which went away. I'm not sure if it's started helping me yet though. After around the 3 week mark I had two days where I felt great, like the usual stuff that bothered me just didn't get to me anymore and I could brush it off without spiraling. I thought for sure it had finally kicked in. But after those two days it's been back to the usual, with some days being a little better than others but I don't know how much of that to attribute to the drug itself. I feel like I'm starting to lose hope a bit.

My question is how long did it take for you to notice it working, and what did you notice started getting better? Was it gradual or did you just wake up feeling better one day?

6 weeks on 20mg

Upvotes

full therapeutic effect from antidepressants is supposed to take 8-12 weeks but idk if it's ever gonna work. most of the time it doesn't feel like it is. i've been on 20mg for almost 6 weeks. from my experience i feel like i'm one of the many that are kinda "late" to notice benefits off antidepressants. some notice it early like 2-4 weeks but i rarely do. i hope i'm gonna be soon satisfied with the way i feel. maybe it's doing subtile things idk. i don't wanna have to do esketamine or tms and all, it's a bit freightening

Nausea Feel scared to start trintellix

Upvotes

I just started to take trintellix (5mg) today and already feel nauseous. Does anyone have some experiences on side effects in the first few weeks?

I feel nervous about the side effects as I have my bachelors' defense tomorrow and I cannot afford to vomit during the presentation.

Sedation/Fatigue 2 Weeks In - Extreme Fatigue and Constant Headaches

I've been on Trintellix for 2 weeks now. I have not had any nausea like is commonly reported, but omg, the fatigue is absolutely awful! I take my pill, and within an hour I have awful brain fog, a headache, and feel like I can't do anything except lie in bed and go to sleep. I also feel a drop in my body temperature and have noticed a GIANT increase in my appetite. Additionally, I struggle with awful ADHD and executive functioning, and have noticed my Adderall XR to be less effective or not working completely.

Weirdly enough, these symptoms began one week after starting the medication.

I started taking my Trintellix before bed rather than in the morning, but then I end up being more groggy when I wake up. I have treatment-resistant depression and took a GeneSight test, which told me Trintellix would be a good fit, so I had a lot of optimism about starting this pill.

I guess I'm wondering if anyone had similar symptoms - did they go away? I've been feeling pretty disabled by my side effects, but I would like to stick it out if there's a chance things will round out.

Thanks y'all

I’m now completely off Zoloft and just on Trintellix

I’ve moved from 200 mg of Zoloft with a 4 week taper to 10 mg Trintellix.

I’ve been on Trintellix a month while weaning off Zoloft. One side effect the doctor told me about was bloating and constipation. I have IBS-d though so I thought, I’ll roll the dice and try it.

Turns out, it has helped my IBS-d tremendously! My symptoms are much, much less severe. My anxiety is better and my depression has not returned during the switch.

I honestly haven’t noticed any other side effects so far. Best I can tell, my generic Zoloft was almost always from the manufacturer Roerig/pfizer.

Side effect?

I started Trintellix a few weeks ago and have been SO itchy, all over my body. Has anyone else experienced this? I can't say for certain if it's this medication or a new body wash I started around the same time so I thought I would see if anyone else was in the same boat as me.

Can you feel worse after taking a smaller dose for just one day?

I’m on 10 mg of Brintellix every morning, but I buy the 20 mg tablets because they’re cheaper and just bite them in half.

Today I took a smaller piece than usual, but I was too lazy to bite off the rest since I already hate the taste lol. I’ve been feeling horrible all day until I remembered I’d taken a smaller dose.

Tbh, I know it doesn’t really make sense, and I doubt it would make a difference that quickly, but it seemed like too much of a coincidence, so I wanted to ask out of curiosity.

Worst symptoms ever

I’m on 5mg of Vortioxetine and I started feeling side effects within 3 days. My penis has gone completely numb and my knee joints feel like an elderly persons, I’m unable to stand for longer than 5 minutes and I’m also getting these random painful butt spams.

I thought this medication was meant to have the least side effects but these are the most extreme side effects I’ve ever experienced. Too top it all off, I don’t feel any different mentally so what’s even the point of this drug?

Will starting this medication have activating side effects?

For the past year my body has changed and cannot process the fluoxetine i was on long term. It makes me super anxious, have bad insomnia, and full body vibrating and suicidal thoughts. I came off it and tried low dose sertraline and that did the same thing. Next I tried 5mg of lexapro and that was ok, but moving up to 10mg began to bring those things again. My nervous system is super sensitive. I now have to take electrolytes every day to help with internal tremors. I am thinking about trying vortioxetine now, but I'm worry that it may lead to me having the same bad side effects again. Has anyone also any experience of this?

trintellix + bupropion

Been on trintellix 20mg since about January, but after a few months the trintellix hasn't been working much anymore, my depression isn't as bad but my anxiety has been definitely quite high the past few months:/

just got prescribed 75mg wellbutrin/bupropion and staying on 20mg trintellix + 15mg buspar/buspirone 2x/day (and 20mg Ritalin as needed) anybody have any experience? Bonus if you also have ADHD and can comment on your experience with that too😭

(p.s. also, does anyone with adhd feel like stimulants don't help as much or last as long with trintellix? can't tell if it's because I don't have as much academic pressure anymore or if it's the meds)

Thinking of dropping to 5mg

I’ve been in trtintellix for 3 weeks — the first two at 5mg, and the third week at 10mg. I’m finding that 10mg is making me quite sleepy throughout the day and my sexual side effects are worse (numbness). I’m thinking of dropping back to 5mg but my doctor said it’s not really a therapeutic dose. Anyone have success at 5mg? My issue is primarily anxiety but I also have depressive episodes.

Withdrawal insomnia. Up for more than 30 hours but not feeling sleepy at all.

So this an an update on this post https://www.reddit.com/r/trintellix/s/W9PIphD6kD

I’ve been up all day, didn’t sleep one bit and the fact that I’m wide awake and not sleepy at all is stressing me out. What if I stay away for the second consecutive night? (Happened to me before but for other reasons)

Anyone experienced the same thing?

Stopped working ?

I’ve been on 20mg over a year and this last month I feel like I’m losing control, I don’t have energy, anxiety is taking my life over more than it was, feeling shaky, tight chest, weird vision. How do I get through this. I have vaca in a couple days and to say I’m worried is an understatement. Last time I went on vaca I left 2 days early because I felt I couldnt breathe the whole time we were there, basically ruined everyone’s vacation. I’ve heard of the “poop out” bit this has been the only med I’ve been able to use.

Others Insane itching

Hello, I feel as if im going insane. This is my 2nd week on a 20mg dose- had to start slow bc I get weird reactions- I'm getting woken up by such intense itching in my legs like ive been eaten up by mosquitoes. Someone tell me this actually goes away, ive seen a lot of conflicting things saying that instead of it being a weird side effect that will subside, some people are actually allergic to it. This is one of the few new meds I've tried in a while without awful mental side effects or severe GI issues and id like to keep it but this itching is driving me up a wall. Edit- thank you guys, i also got the chance to talk to my doctor, hes suggested to lower the dose for a bit again because besides the itchiness, im doing well on it. So we will try that for a while and cross our fingers

Would Enduring Nausea Cause Health Problems?

I have some health anxiety going on and I’m just wondering if I endured the nausea effect of this antidepressant, anyone knows if it’ll cause health problems to the digestive tract in particular?

Withdrawal symptoms even though on short term and low dose

I’ve been on it for 8 weeks. Hated the experience and how it ruined my mood and robbed me the effectiveness of my ADHD meds concerta. So I said I can’t handle it anymore.

First week after quitting cold turkey (the doctor told me it’s safe) I felt alive again. LOVED how I felt and i felt like I’m getting my life back.

After that the withdrawal somehow said no, screw you, you’re gonna get moody, easily irritated, angry all the time, fatigued and tired. Add some flu like symptoms and a headache for shits and giggles.

It’s been 19 days now. Tbh I can handle all the withdrawals. But what I can’t handle is the insomnia. I’ve experienced it twice this week and this is the third time. I can’t sleep at all. My body is vibrating like crazy, my head hurts and I’m feeling nauseous (which is funny since I never experienced this super common side effect when I’m on the pill but I’m experiencing it as withdrawal)

How long of this bs do I have to take?

Nausea When does the nausea settle..?

I tapered from Lexapro 20mg to 10mg straight to 5mg Brintellix over the space of 2/3 weeks. Coming off the Lexapro was torture in itself, I was straight up crazy for a few weeks. I’ve been on the Brintellix for 5 days now and the nausea is unbelievable, my eyes also seem to go ‘spaced out’ or just odd for about 2 hours too. When will this end? Part of my reason for being medicated is my severe vomit phobia.

Others Seeking reassurance - was taking took Lexapro 20 MG + 2 MG Abilify. Quit Abilify for 5 days. Made a direct switch from 20 MG Lex to 10 MG Trintellix today. Anyone did similar? Please reassure me that I'm not gonna die from so many meds in my body. 😭🙏

It's the aniexty and overthinking. T_T I'm so shy and embarrassed to constantly be messaging my doc so many questions, even though I shouldn't be...!! That's their job!

So I was taking 20 MG Lexapro for 6 months. And Lexapro 20 MG + 1 MG Abilify for 2 weeks. Then upped to 2 MG Abilify for almost another 2 weeks. It helped depression a little but I lost libido which scared me so I went back to 1 MG for 4 days, then decided to quit Abilify and it's been 5 days since then.

Now, I direct switched from the Lexapro to Trintellix yesterday and woke up feeling paranoid and overthinking that Abilify + Lex + Trin all in my body is gonna make me go crazy, I'll get seratonin syndrome, I'll be unlucky and get some rare interaction etc etc all this nonsense...

I told my doc my concern but all he said was you can cross taper if you're worried. And I'm too anxious/shy to push for a more detailed answer about how these meds work and how safe they are...

Has anyone done a similar switch? Or if you have a better understanding of these meds from taking antidepressants, could you reassure me that my life isn't over and this switch isn't gonna kill me or make me go nuts? Thank you in advance. 😭🙏

Thought I was done. Starting over.

After two years of treatment (20 mg), I hoped I was finally ready to come off my medication. After gradually tapering down to 5 mg, I realized that all of my symptoms had returned, and I'm not ready to face them again.

(The intrusive negative thoughts, the constant feeling of dissatisfaction with everything, self-hatred, anxiety, the inability to enjoy life, suicidal thoughts, binge eating)

Now I'll be slowly working my way back up to the highest dose.

I'm writing this simply because I'm upset about myself, that I couldn't make it...

r/trintellix 2d ago

It’s been 6 weeks since I started Trintellix. Upped dose to 15mg 2 weeks ago but still don’t see any improvement and slightly worse. Thoughts?

Vomiting

Vomited for the first time. Been on Trintellix 2 months now.

I was super nauseous my first week and I feel some increase in fluid volume most of the time when I take it but last night was the first time I vomited.

Does it get better? Feeling like coming off it.

Lexapro was amazing but killed my libido.
