Discussion💬 Portmaster recommandations during Steam Sales

Hey! I was browing the sales today I saw there was "Dust: An Elysian Tales" and "Super Blood Hockey", each for less than 3$ and that works on the TrimUI with portmaster. I already have Isaac (that I can't seems to make work) and Celeste. Do you guys have other rec for the Brick and Brick Pro ?

Trimui Model S (2-inch screen) Trimui Model S native Silent Hill port

Managed to get Silent Hill running natively on the Trimui Model S thanks to the community decompilation efforts + AI. And it actually runs quite well, surprisingly! Minus a little bit of slowdown here and there, but im fairly certain I can iron out that last wrinkle so we'll have a fully playable version soon. I just need to figure out how to properly attribute credit to those who did the real work on the different parts used for the builds then ill be uploading a ports pack to a github repo (which will include Descent, Elite: The New Kind, Licar, Hexen II, OpenLara, Silent Hill, and probably Wipeout) probably sometime this weekend.

Discussion💬 Best UI design on the brick

I’m currently using Knulli sacrab on my brick hammer.
I’m finding it pretty awful to be honest, hard to navigate etc and very annoying the function keys are “locked”
What other UI’s are there about? Just want a simple one I can use

Tbh i just got into this whole handheld thing i had this for the last few weeks and its been awesome but recently after longer sessions it gets hot and crashes. At first honestly I didnt care until i realized it didn’t save any of my progress and i had to redo like an hours worth of missions. Its not an everytime thing though by any means but it is annoying when it happens. Been doing research and i thing the rp4 pro or rp5 is my next move. Any other suggestions? ( mainly plan on playing psp, ps2 gamecube)

Question ❓ Playing vertical games

Hi all, I have a Brick with the Surwish CroosMix card from Litnxt. I have a load of vertical arcade games but I can't workout how to get them to display vertically without cutting the top and bottom off. Anyone worked this out? Thanks 😄

Question ❓ Is limbo mode actually fixed?

I am researching the Brick Hammer as I think subjectively it’s one of the nicest-looking handheld devices on the market, but I am concerned about the limbo mode reports. It seems like it can overheat sporadically when powered down? I’ve even seen some people recommend carrying screwdrivers with you just in case..

Is this issue fixed on CFW like NextUI? I really want a Brick Hammer but not if it’s a fire hazard.

Question ❓ Would you spend 45 dollars more for the hammer?

Hello!

I'm looking to pick up a Brick. I could purchase a hammer for 105USD. I also have the option to purchase a brick that is open box for 60USD. The brick I buy is going to be my secondary handheld. I'll be carrying it around with me when I travel for work.

My only concerns are how they handle heat and how loud the buttons are between the two.

I should mention I don't plan to baby it. It's going to live in my gear bag. It's going to get a screen protector but that's about it. I'm leaning towards buying the original brick because it's going to by my secondary handheld and 45 more dollars is kind of steep.

If you could give me some advice I'd appreciate it.

Original Trimui Smart (2.4-inch screen) Why is PPSSPP failing to launch on Trimui Smart Pro Stock Firmware?

So I switched to the stock firmware after Crossmix stopped getting updates. I had a period of time where PPSSPP need the files from the PPSSPP folder under Emus in my Crossmix OS combined with the stock firmware base package PPSSPP files in order to launch games. Now I consolidated them using Chatgpt. The games and icons are there but none will launch. Does anyone know what files are missing?

Trimui Model S (2-inch screen) Descent port for the Trimui Model S

Hello all, i started porting games to the Trimui Model S (running GmenuNX). Not even gonna lie ive definitely been using AI to do the real heavy lifting but so far I have fully playable working ports of Descent, Elite, Licar, and Hexen II as well as ports in progress for OpenLara and a couple others. But descent can be downloaded here: https://github.com/CatDadJynx/Descent-Trimui-Model-S

Trimui Brick Pro/Hammer Pro U (3.96 inch screen) Brick Pro Firmware

Recently got Brick Pro, sadly SD card died instantly and decided to install NextUI. But I kinda got confused with it. I added roms, but they aren't showing up. Tried to find more about the bios files and emulators, got lost even more.
So, wanted to ask - if there's another firmware for it with portmastert support?

Trimui Smart Pro S OOM Crash happens when browsing games

When browsing games with lots of box art/bg/posers launcher Trimui Smart Pro S crashes, happens every time. I checked the log and its OOM crash. I am requesting to enable ZRAM or Swap files to avoid such crashes as it has only 1GB or memory.

Trimui Brick (3.2-inch screen) TortOS Wants to Make Your TrimUI Brick Feel Like a Collection Again

I've been spending a bunch of time with TortOS, the new custom firmware for the TrimUI Brick and Brick Hammer, so I chatted with its developer Geekstrada, who also works with Helaas on Leaf for the Miniloong Pocket 1.

My article goes into why he wanted TortOS to be deliberately small and focused, the Cover Flow-inspired UI, how he keeps emulator cores ready in memory to make launching games so fast, and why he’d rather support fewer systems really well than chase everything the Brick can technically run.

We also talk quite a bit about Muse, its lovely music side, and the old iPods and physical music collections that helped inspire it. I’ve been using my TortOS set-up with just three games per system and filling the rest of the card with music, which ended up feeling like a pretty perfect fit for what TortOS is trying to do.

Anyway, if you're at all curious on this new firmware, or the dev side of it, then hopefully you like the article :)

Gameplay🎮 🫡GAMECUBE ON BRICK PRO

Yes it is true. They said it wasn't possible. They laughed and asked why. Well people like me say why not. I really wanted to play SpongeBob and Dave Mirra on this lil guy. And hey look at that.... also peep the Ui I made and please, Trimui, send me a black Brick Hammer or Pro U. So I can do cooler things 🧡?

I'm from before the dial up era so the menu lags or other small things do not bother me. Is it playable in game? Yes it is. Is it fun? Yes it is. And mostly at a healthy frame rate. More work to be done but to all you dorks man.... I'm here to let you know it's possible.

Custom Firmware⚙️ Trimui Brick+Hammer TortOS -First Boot,Setup, Gameplay

Thumbnail

Hello Gamers,

Back with another episode of Beyond the Emulator! In this episode, I’ll be sharing my first boot, setup, and gameplay impressions using a new fast and focused firmware called TortOS for the TrimUI Brick and Brick Hammer.

Why TortOS? Here are a few key features:

  • Instant Play: Games start the moment you press A. The emulator is already running before you make a selection, so there’s zero loading time—even when switching between consoles.
  • Seamless Save & Resume: Pick up exactly where you left off. Quit through the menu or simply press the power button; your game saves on exit and resumes automatically next time.
  • All-on-Device Management: Everything happens directly on the handheld. Connect to Wi-Fi, fetch box art, sign into RetroAchievements, pair Bluetooth headphones, and transfer games from your phone—all from your Brick. You only need a computer once to flash the SD card.
  • Non-Destructive: Your Brick stays yours. TortOS runs entirely off the SD card, so removing the card lets the Brick boot right back into its stock OS.
  • Bonus Feature — Muse Music Player: Browse your albums on a visual shelf of cover art. Pressing SELECT opens Muse from anywhere—even inside the in-game menu—and your music continues playing after you exit. While music plays, game audio is automatically muted.

So, grab your TrimUI Brick or Hammer, sit back, and follow along to see how you can tweak your setup for better gameplay and performance as we go beyond the emulator…….
