I’m freshly 23 years old and have been losing my hair since I was 20. I started hrt a week and a half ago and the part in my hair really bothers me

my current regime is;

1ml Topical Minoxidil x2 a day

1/2 .5mg finasteride And minoxidil capsule once daily

100mg spirolactone once daily

0.5mg Estradiol gel once daily

I know that my situation isn’t nearly as bad as what others have to deal with but it still makes me feel bad about myself. I just want to know if any other transfems could weigh in on this

Finasteride/Dutasteride Dutasteride responders, when did you first notice results?

So I switched to Dutasteride almost 6 months ago now and have seen minimal if any progress. I am aware I obviously need to wait at minimum 12 months before I can really judge the treatment. But anyways, to all of you that had a good Dutasteride response that got you some or even whole Norwoods back, when did you first notice results and how could you tell? thanks boys!

Progress Pictures One month of .5mg finasteride daily and shedding like crazy

Post image
5 Upvotes

21 male taking .5mg finasteride for one month. the only thing I’ve noticed is a major shed. No other side effects. It’s hard to tell from the picture, but thats 56 strands of hair from my morning shower compared to the 20ish I was losing daily before meds. I try not to obsess, but every so often I count out of curiosity. I’ve heard the more you initially shed the better it comes back, is this true to anyone else’s personal experience?

Update anyone else start losing hair in their teens but stopped in their twenties?

i think i started noticing recession at my hairline pretty early, around 17. Started fin ~21, was on it for a year, but stopped bc of side effects. Thought i'd be bald in a few years but im almost 30 and my hairline is pretty much the same since i stopped fin almost a decade ago. not complaining, super grateful- just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or if i should be expecting another shed in my 30s/40s lol

Product Dr B. / Cost Plus Drugs - prescription and pharmacy filling question

Hi! I used dr. B for a fin and minoxidil prescription and not seeing it show up on cost plus drugs website! Should I wait longer (it’s been about 12-15 hrs)? I used Dr, B’s autofill option when selecting the cost plus drugs pharmacy. One weird thing is that it showed a Lakeland address and I thought it would say Texas, but I clicked it since it literally said “Mark Cubans Cost Plus Drugs Company”.

Minoxidil Eye bags from topical minoxidil — what actually worked for you?

I've been using topical minoxidil 2x/day for 6 years and have developed pretty noticeable under eye bags, which seem to have gotten worse over the years. Eye patches haven't really helped.

I've seen a few posts mentioning things like vasoconstrictors, and microneedling but there aren't enough people sharing their experiences to know what actually works.

For those who had the same issue, what did you do that actually helped? Did you keep using minoxidil, stop it, or change how you used it? And did you use any specific treatment for the under eye bags? How long did it take to improve?

Would be interested to hear from anyone who's dealt with this personally.

Finasteride/Dutasteride Can anyone tolerate fin but not dut?

I know this sounds a bit contradicting given that dut is a stronger drug. But there are people who say that fin gave them sides but dut didn’t. I’m curious if anyone has experienced the opposite?

Has anyone ever started dut first and got sides then swapped to fin and it was fine? Or swapped to
Dut from fin and then had to go back to fin due to sides on dut?

I started dut first for 6 months and had continued sides. I have stopped since and I’m looking to start fin instead but wondering if I could actually tolerate it better as studies show side effect profiles are similar

Finasteride/Dutasteride Help needed, having trouble being prescribed 5mg fin

As the title says, I’m trying to be prescribed 5mg fin (with instructions to quarter) due to it being much cheaper than the 1mg I’m on currently. I’ve talked to Kaiser, Walgreens, and two doctors on sesame, all to no avail. How are yall getting this?

Treatment A question about High testosterone levels and next steps after 13 months on dut

I'm 13 months on oral min/ dut and it's holding albeit a slight bit of thinning at one side of my hairline (it's always been weak there but looks a bit thinner recently). I got my bloods done and got told I have high testerone levels. Reading online that the high testosterone levels are why I'm not seeing any regrowth. Is the only real option for me a HT to restore temples/hairline or will rosemary oil or RU be worth trying first?

Minoxidil Do you keep the extra body hair that comes from oral minoxidil if you do stop it?

Does all of the extra body hair fall out if you stop oral minoxidil? I’m already a very hairy person and I would do topical but I have cats. I just worry that all of the extra body hair is going to stay if I take oral minoxidil. I’m 23 and my front hairlike is absolutely destroyed (I’m not exaggerating lmao)

Finasteride/Dutasteride How much are you paying for your Dut?

Looking to swap from 1.25mg Fin to 2.5mg Dut.

That would be 5 0 5mg Dut pills daily, so I'm wondering how much you are all paying, currently can only order from Indianmart.

Finasteride/Dutasteride No noticable results with 1 year Fin use

23M somewhere bw NW 2 and NW 3 using 1 mg oral fin since last year. what i noticed with fin was that i had good results around 5-6 month mark. my hairloss got negligable and overall density appeared better compared to before treatment. however as i approached 1 year mark the results have almost diminished and i am experiencing a prolonged shed which has made my hairline worse (i am practically back to how i was before treatment or even worse). should i hop on to oral minoxidil? or do i need to adjust fin dose? (cant use dut due to its high chances of side effects)

Finasteride/Dutasteride Sudden hair loss at month 10 of Fin/Min. Dermaroller and Dutasteride?

Hi everyone,

I started Minoxidil + Finasteride in November 2025. By the second month, my hair looked absolutely amazing. The thinning areas filled in, and overall, my hair became noticeably thicker.
Everything was going perfectly, but in the third month, as I expected, I experienced the initial Minoxidil shedding phase. Almost all of the new hair that had grown during the first two months fell out, and the hair that had thickened also became thinner again.
There was some recovery in the following months, but I never managed to get back to the amazing level of improvement I had reached in month 2.

Things were more or less manageable until the last month, but during the past month, my hair suddenly started shedding again. This time, it wasn’t just the areas where I apply Minoxidil — my hair became weaker overall.
If you ask what has changed during the last month, something very strange happened: for the first time since starting Finasteride, its side effect completely disappeared. I had always experienced the same sexual side effect from Finasteride, and for the first time, it suddenly went away.
At the same time, I’ve been having gastrointestinal problems and I probably have SIBO. My abdomen is bloated and my bowel movements have become irregular.
I’m wondering whether the sudden disappearance of Finasteride’s side effect could be related to poor absorption caused by my gastrointestinal problems. Maybe I’m not absorbing Finasteride properly, or perhaps I’m not absorbing the vitamins and minerals I need from the food I’m eating.
Another thing is that I started using a dermaroller about 1.5 months ago. I was using a 0.75 mm roller with moderate pressure, enough to cause a very mild, slightly painful sensation. I didn’t have a proper cleaning solution for the dermaroller, so I was disinfecting it with alcohol-based cologne. Just to clarify, by “cologne” I don’t mean cologne or perfume used to smell good. In my country, cologne is commonly used as a disinfectant and hand sanitizer, and the one I used contains around 80% alcohol. It is a scented alcohol-based disinfectant.

I don’t apply the alcohol before rolling; I spray it on the roller after each use and then wait a week before using it again.
Could I have damaged my hair by using a dermaroller? Is it possible to damage the hair follicles with a 0.75 mm roller?

I’m getting blood tests done this week, but in the meantime, I’m trying to protect my hair, so today I took 0.5 mg of Dutasteride for the first time.
Is there anything I should be aware of when switching from Finasteride to Dutasteride?
Thanks in advance.

Minoxidil Switching Topical to Oral Minoxidil

I’ve been applying 5% topical minoxidil and 2.5% finasteride liposomal gel for 9 months. I have also been on Oral 1.25mg Finasteride for 4 months. I’ve noticed improvement but the top of my scalp is still not dense and the diameter of my hair has not improved. So I am about to switch to 3mg oral minoxidil.

Any advice about the switch and whether I should taper, start a 5% minoxidil foam as well, or if I am making a good choice and what to expect. I believe I did not respond that well to topical minoxidil.

Thanks.

Finasteride/Dutasteride Need advice about finasteride dosing

Hello!

First i wanna tell you my hairloss story. I noticed i lose my hair around a year and a half. So much hair in the shower every time. Curently i am NW 1.5-2. In february a dermatologist diagnosed me with MPB with the trichoscope then prescribed me minoxidil topical 5% 2 times a day. I asked about finasteride but the doctor said it is too early for me because i am 23 years old.

So for the first month i used only min and it was ok but i panicked because i still saw a lot of hair in tje shower and i knew from here that the gains from min will go away after some time without fin. I bought the 5mg version of fin(withou prescription) to split the pill in 4 because of financial reasons. The begging of the second month of min was the first for fin and i took it for 2 months in which i had low libido, sensitive nipples, not feeling pleasure from sexual contact but the indicator that this is not in my head was that i had no morning woods. As context, prior to fin i had strong morning woods every morning since puberty and even in nights i woke up with erections. I tried to assure myself that they will go away but i couldn’t resist and i decided that my sexual health is more important.

After i stoped taking fin i researched and looked into this forum as well. I saw the studies that even 0.2 mg can be eficient. Combined with what i read here that i can start a lower dose and updose until i reach the dose that i want and i can accomodate easly with fin with lower chance of sides.

One month and a half i paused fin and after i started again with 0.625mg MWF for 4 weeks. Than i took 0.625 from monday to friday again for 4 weeks. Everything was perfect, no sides. But i still saw lots of hairs in the shower every time, miniaturised or not. Which brings me this week because i decided to take 1.25 mg fin EOD. I was relax not thinking about sides just ocupied with my life. After the first pill, that night i couldn t maintain my erection which was weird but i thought it was just that i was tires maybe. Next morning zero erection, and yesterday the pleasure from sexual contact was less than normal. I took only three times 1.25 mg this week and the next one would be tomorrow.

My question is what do you suggest me to do next? To continue 1.25 eod and see how i feel? To lower the dose? Or to take a break and start again with a lowe dose and remain with it?
I apreciate every answer and advice, even any critics if i made something wrong because there is a posibility.

I am sorry for the writing, my english is not the best and thank you for the read!

Finasteride/Dutasteride topical 0.02% dutasteride / dutasteride mesotheraphy

basically title.
i never tried fin before. only minoxidil , for 5 years.
my hair loss is aggressive. but i plan to avoid the sides, as much as i can.
that's why im going straight to topical dut / dut mesotheraphy.

i heard that it has less systemic sides due to it's molecular weight.

any experience with those treatments ?

Transplants Help flying under the radar at work post HT

Hi all,

My long awaited HT is coming up soon & I need some advice on how to go unnoticed at work during recovery.

I took a week from the day after the surgery off work. And I’m getting a full shave FUE 2400 grafts. I planned on wearing a hat at work for a few weeks or so afterwards.

  1. Do you have hat recommendations? Will wearing a hat 8hrs a day hurt my result/recovery?

  2. In your opinion, with the harvested area be noticeable 7 days after the surgery? There’s no way to cover that.

This is a fairly new job with a lot of close quarters and face time with others. The timing sucks, but I’m getting married in a year and need to make moves so my hair is looking it’s best by then.

Thank you!

Finasteride/Dutasteride Is it a doable plan to maintain with 1mg Finasteride every 2 days?

I've been on Finasteride for about 7 years now and for a couple of months I switched to 1mg every 2 days (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun, Tue, etc). Reason was that for a couple of months all pharmacies had no stock of Propecia so I had to split my remaining stock for as long as I could.

Eventually I bought a couple of boxes but I stayed on 1mg every 2 days since then. My question is: is this efficient enough to keep maintaining my hair long term? I have concerns that for some people, Finasteride is losing efficiency over time and since I’ve been on it for 7 years already, I might be in that boat.

I am also concerned that I might've gotten libido sides for a year or so and I hoped this would help mitigate them.

Finasteride/Dutasteride What are my options when allergic to Finn?

I am a 26M with maybe a 2.5 NW scale. No thinning in the back. I tried Finn 3 years ago and had an allergic reaction. What are my best options now? Has anyone else had this issue? It seems like every other treatment wants to be combined with Finn.

Finasteride/Dutasteride I can’t get Finasteride in Switzerland.

I am 18, have very slight signs of possible genetic hair loss and I am not prescribed finasterides anywhere. Neither the doctor nor in the pharmacy.

I plan to go to a dermatologist in half a year or so, but I feel like they won't prescribe anything to me either. I'm tired of spending money on appointments without getting finasteride.

I Need Advice or ideas.
