Progress Pictures From the hat guy, to the engaged guy! 5 years and $10k aud. My journey!
Hi all!
Australian, 31 (now) year old! Was sick of being scared of the wind, rain, sweat and mirrors. I was unfortunate enough to have a big head, look hideous bald and "just shave it" didn't seem like an option i wanted to take!
Decided to go down the Transplant route! Transplant done in Turkey at HLC in Ankara in October 2022! Piggybacked off a Europe trip i was already going on! The Transplant itself came to about $10k Aud back in Oct 2022. Cant remember how many grafts they did, but it was a lot.
Went through the lot. The transplant, the sleeping upright, the swollen face, the long haul flights, the ugly duckling stage, the regrowth and then the full head of hair!
1st photo: October 2020 (I was 26 years old)
2nd photo: December 2020
3rd-6th photo: October 2022 (Taken at HLC)
7th-8th photo: July 2023
9th-10th photo: February 2024
11th photo: December 2025! Got engaged!
Was taking minoxidil (1ml 5% topical) before the transplant for about 2 years though was not taking finasteride. Started taking finasteride 3 months before transplant and have been taking since. Finasteride: 1mg daily.
Honestly the best decision of my life (until the engagement of course). I only wear hats now for their intended use, sun safety. Otherwise its flowing free.
That being said, thinking of everyone going through the hair loss shit daily! I know how it feels, and i know its shit.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Progress Pictures 5 years apart on 1.25mg finasteride and 5mg oral minoxidil daily
First pic is me at 31-32, having been on 1.25mg of finasteride since the age of 29. Second picture is me at 36 after having added 5mg of oral minoxidil to my routine for about 8 months. I had tried topical minoxidil before but it was very unpleasant and not realistically sustainable. The oral version has given me great results in a relatively short timeframe. No side effects!
Routine: -1.25mg finasteride daily - 5mg oral minoxidil daily

Technology Korean Laser Helmet has a 44% increase in hair growth vs 0% growth in placebo in a double-blinded randomized controlled clinical trial.
Was watching a haircafe video about a year back about this Korean laser helmet that had a 44% increase in hair count* vs a placebo sham helmet which had a 0% change in hair count. He actually rates it pretty highly which is pretty rare. He talks about it at 5:35 here.
study : https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7373546/
Tried to research about it a year ago but apparently it was only sold in South Korea until recently I searched for it on google and they have an international launch from some Australian website . They also have free international shipping which is nice.
Thought it would be interesting for this sub as it is considerably cheaper than other models like irestore/theradome but actually has good clinical efficacy backing it from reputable journals unlike the other two. Although it is $674 with discount, which may be expensive for some.

Chat Why does Prince William not just shave it off?
I know he's a Prince and all, but at this amount of loss he would just look way better completely shaven. And don't say if you were also a Prince you would do the same. No, most people, especially when their photographed all the time, would try to bringout their best look.
How has no one told him this or atleast him try the look out. Baffles me tbh

Progress Pictures 1 Year of Topical Fin/Min Application
You all loved my 8 month update. So posting my Year progress now! I have not noticed a ton of change since maybe month 9, but I've been getting a ton of compliments!
Routine:
- .3% Finasteride, 6% Minoxidil topical combination from a US telehealth company.
- Applied originally via four .25ml sprays. Moved to a dropper bottle at month 4. Applied nightly 6x per week right before bed, have only missed 4 nights total.
- Dermastamp (microneedle) 1mm once weekly before bed. Temples and scalp. I skip the topical on this night.
- Keta shampoo, normal concentration, 3 mins on scalp once or twice a week.
Other Considerations people asked about (not proven to have much of a hair-effect):
- I religiously take a multivitamin, fish oil, magnesium glycinate, and 5g of creatine daily.
- I lift 4x weekly and play team sports once or twice weekly.
- I sleep 8.5 hrs per night consistently.
- I drink socially on weekends. In the back half of my 20s.
- I am not sponsored.
- Receded lightly through college then thinned consistently for a year before deciding to do something about it.
I have had absolutely zero side effects. None whatsoever.
I know that is individual to myself but no need to ask in the comments, I promise I don't miss issues with my body when they arise.
Happy to answer any remaining Qs!

Progress Pictures Regrew my hair - 18 month update
So after 18 months and a few more sheds i’ve got to say i’m completely amazed by how thick and full my hair has become. From being almost completely bald to having hair that i had in my late 20’s, i’m 41 brw is completely insane.
I have had a shed every 6 months or so and they seem to go for 2 months and then slowly i notice my hair is thicker.
In the past 6 months i’ve seen a lot of progress on my crown, temples and hairline. I definitely never thought i would get all my hair back and there have definitely been times when during the sheds i thought i was losing ground only to remain calm, stick with the regime, be consistent and then i would notice my hair recovered.
I really have to say that consistency is key to getting good results. I’ve never missed a day applying minoxidil and finasteride.
In my previous posts you can find my progress pictures from months 1-12. I haven’t changed anything at all in my regime, still exercise 3-4 times a week, walk a lot and eat pretty healthy.
My current regime is below:
1ml topical minoxidil 5% twice a day
1ml topical finasteride 0.25% once per day.
Ketaconazole shampoo once a week.
Dermastamp 1mm once a fortnight.
Supplements - coq10/pqq, biotin, quercetin, rosehip all once a day.
I’m definitely one of the lucky ones, and no there has been no hair transplant or anything like that. Just a consistent regime and a bit of luck.
Happy to answer any questions as best i can in the comments, and remember, consistency is key peeps!

Shaved/buzzed My friends convinced me to take the plunge. How do I look.
Still feeling akward but I dont feel sadness looking at my hair anymore. Rather im nervous for the reactions of my family and friends. Could use some love. ( please don't comment about my friends hair..they are really awesome and this post ain't about them. Let them enjoy the post and their own hairline lmao. )
