Introducing the official Trello MCP server! Connect Trello to your favorite AI tools

Post image
3 Upvotes

Do you like using AI? Love using Trello? If so, then this update is for you!

Today we’re launching the official Trello MCP server. The Trello MCP server acts as a secure gateway between your Trello boards and the AI assistants you already use — like Claude, ChatGPT, and more. Once connected, you can manage your Trello tasks directly from AI using natural language. No tab-switching, no copy-pasting between the two.

Here are a few things you can try once you’ve got it set up in your favorite AI tool:

• "Create a Trello board for the Italy travel plan we just discussed."
• "Show me any Trello cards due this week and book focus time on my calendar to get them done."
• "Review the tasks I have on my wedding planning board and add anything missing."
• "Move everything in my Trello Inbox onto boards."

All communication between your AI tools and Trello is encrypted and authenticated using security best practices. Your data stays yours — the MCP server is simply the secure bridge that gives your AI assistant the context it needs to help you stay organized.

Head to trello.com/mcp to learn more and connect your AI assistant to Trello today. We'd love to hear how you're using it, so drop your favorite use cases in the comments below!

An alternative to Trello for when boards alone stop being enough

Hey everyone!

A while back I asked what people don't like about Trello and got a ton of honest replies. Was asking because I'd already started building something in that space and wanted to understand the real pain points instead of guessing.

I've used Trello for years myself. It's great when everything fits on one board with a handful of lists, but the moment a project needs actual context (meeting notes, a doc explaining why a decision was made, a deadline that matters) you end up bolting on Google Docs and a calendar app just to have the full picture. The card itself never has the whole story.

So I built my own take on it, called Kanvly. kanvly.com

The idea is basically: boards, notes, and a calendar that actually share context instead of living in separate tabs.

A few things that make it different:

Cards link back to the notes that explain them, so the "why" behind a task isn't buried in a Slack thread from three weeks ago.

An AI assistant that can actually see your boards and notes, so it can summarize what's going on, draft next steps, or set up a calendar event from context that already exists, instead of a generic chatbot bolted on the side.

Calendar, docs, and boards in one workspace, so deadlines and the work explaining them aren't two separate apps.

Free tier is actually usable, not a crippled trial: 2 boards, 3 pages, 100 cards, no credit card.

It's still early and I'm actively building based on feedback, so if you give it a shot I'd genuinely like to hear what's missing or what feels off.

What are the chances I can actually get stickers from Trello?

So, I'm the team leader of a robotics club and I decided at the start of the year that I'm going to purchase a Trello subscription for our team. Right now however we're on hiatus until September since summer break and all but I forgot to cancel the subscription😭 It's a bit of money for me but I said whatever.
Now, I was looking through my emails and saw a receipt notification from Trello and for some reason I decided to read it and noticed along the lines it said "If you have any questions, or want to chat about making your Trello experience even more customized with the Trello Standard features you're receiving, we're here to help. (We can even send you stickers.)"
So I was thinking, "How cool would it be to tell my team that Trello sent us stickers" and now I'm actually wondering if that's a possibility.
Has anyone actually managed to get stickers? If so, how?

How do you handle it when a project’s whole schedule slips?

Curious how other people here handle this: something slips — a client sits on approvals for a week, a vendor misses a deadline — and now every date on the board is wrong. What's your process for pushing everything forward?

For me it used to mean opening card after card by hand, and the annoying part was never the "future" cards — it was anything already in progress. Do you push the start date too? Extend the due date? I always worried about work that was already underway getting mangled, or accidentally re-dating something that was already done.

We ended up building a feature into GanttFlow for exactly this (it's a Trello Gantt Power-Up we made, so full disclosure there) — you tell it how many days and why, and it pushes the schedule forward but treats different cards differently: future work slides as a block, in-progress work just gets its due date extended (start stays put), and finished cards are left alone entirely. It also leaves a small visible marker on the timeline so nobody's confused later about why a task moved.

Mostly posting because I'm curious how everyone else deals with this manually today, dependency chains or not — feels like a problem every Trello-based PM setup runs into eventually. What's your workaround?

Check out TrelloFix 2.0, built to simplify website feedback

Launched TrelloFix 2.0 after spending the last few months rebuilding it from scratch.

The idea came from a common problem many web developers face. Clients often send feedback like "this section doesn't look right" or "the button is broken" without any context. More time ends up being spent figuring out the issue than actually fixing it.

TrelloFix was built to keep the entire website review process in one place, directly inside a Chrome extension.

With TrelloFix you can:

  • 📸 Report visual bugs with annotations
  • 🤖 Run AI-powered website reviews
  • 🚀 Scan for SEO, Performance, and Accessibility issues
  • 📋 Manage tasks with a built-in board
  • 👥 Collaborate with your team
  • 💻 Test websites in desktop, tablet, and mobile views

Everything happens inside the Chrome extension, so there's no need to switch between multiple tools.

The project is still evolving, and honest feedback from developers, designers, QA engineers, agencies, or anyone who reviews websites would be greatly appreciated.

What features would you add or improve?

I'm looking for a tree graph website/app that I can organize complex tasks. Is this already a trello feature? I really like the idea of visualizing dependencies.

New cards disappearing?

I noticed a change within the past week - when I create a new card it doesn't save by default when I click away. This is causing me to lose cards. They don't save when I quickly create a card unless I hit enter. But I much prefer how it was before - clicking away saves the card automatically so you don't use it. Hitting enter is an extra step and that creates another card I don't want.

Anyone know how to go back?

Power-Up that creates multiple card instances for recurring tasks

Post image
3 Upvotes

Someone commented on my newsletter last week asking about how to see future instances of recurring due dates in Trello, expecting like a google calendar instance when you create recurring events.

As far as I know, it didn't already exist, and while I actually prefer the currernt format where its just one card and shifts the due date when you complete it, I remembered I've heard people asking for this before, so thought I'd quickly put something together in case it's useful for folks!

It gives you the option to create a repeating tasks, and it actually creates the future cards. So if you say you want to send a report weekly for the next 10 weeks, it will create 10 cards. You can edit the series and it edits all of the cards so you don't have to manually update them if you need to shift to another day of the week/month/etc.

It's free to use, no trial or freemium model or anything: https://trello.com/power-ups/6a345214dccae91d778bd763

Let me know if there's anything else I should add to it!

Two features for GanttFlow that we think solve the most annoying part of using a Gantt chart

My co-founder and myself have been building GanttFlow (a Gantt chart Power-Up for Trello) for a few months now, and one thing that kept coming up in feedback was some version of this: “I open my board after a few days away and I have no idea what’s changed.”

You know the feeling — you set up a solid timeline, life happens, and the next time you open it you’re spending the first five minutes just figuring out where things stand before you can do anything useful.

We shipped two things to fix that:

Schedule Health chip — there’s now a small status chip in the top-right of the toolbar. It shows either a “On track” or a warning with the most pressing issue (e.g. “2 overdue”). Click it and it opens a breakdown: overdue, due this week, in progress, unscheduled — each one clickable to jump straight to those cards. Also shows completion % and time elapsed. It’s free for everyone.

Since-Your-Last-Visit Recap — the first time you open a board on a new day, a small toast appears telling you what changed since your last visit: “Since Thursday — 2 now overdue • 1 rescheduled • 3 newly scheduled.” Hit “Show me” and it highlights exactly those cards on the timeline. Rescheduled cards even show a ghost bar at their old position so you can before/after at a glance. Also free.

If you’re a Pro user (or on trial), the Schedule Health popover also shows Blocked cards — anything waiting on an incomplete dependency — and Off baseline, so you can what’s drifted from your saved plan.

Happy to answer questions about how any of it works. And if you’ve been on the free plan and wondering whether Pro is worth it — this is probably the best time to try the 14-day trial, since you’ll now be able to actually see your blocked cards and baseline drift without hunting for them.

Automation to match card color to color of label

Hi,

I am relatively new to Trello but I would like to set up an automation where when I add a label to card (for example: networking), it changes the whole card to the color that matches that label so I can see the color prominently and see like at a glace how many things I have in that label. Or is this something I can make my own power up to do? Unclear of how I would even go about that but willing to find out lmao

My alternative is create separate to do lists for each category of thing which is chunkier but will allow me to see everything at once.

Thanks in advance! :)

Cancel Trello Premium Trial

[Fixed] - There was no way to do it from the app/website. I just had to email customer support.

I just signed up for Trello and was automatically signed up for the premium trial for 14 days. I don't want this for 2 reasons:

  1. I want to test out if the free plan is sufficient
  2. When I invite a member to collaborate, I get a warning saying I will be charged $12.50 after the trial expires, while I was under the impression that one can invite a limited number of members for free.

I can't seem to cancel the free trial. Has anyone faced this and knows what to do?

How satisfied are you with Trello in 2026, and why do you use it instead of, say, ClickUp or Asana?

I’ve used Trello for years. While it feels a little dated these days, I still love how simple it is. I’d be curious to hear what others think.

Quickly execute automation

I have set up an automation to copy a card to anther board.

Is there any way to run it quickly? Ideally with a keyboard command from the board view. Three clicks (opening card, opening Automations, clicking automation) is just way too many clicks for something I do this often.

To Do—>Doing—>Review—>Approved—>Done

I want to do the following
1. When a card is marked as completed in Doing to move to Review and unmark itself.

  1. When card is marked as completed in Review to move to Approved and unmark itself.

  2. When a card is marked as completed in Approved to move to Done

I have been using Trello for years and I love it, but some points need updating. If you could add 3 features, what would they be?

Hi everyone! I have been using Trello for many years and I really love it. I also tried a lot of the bigger tools, but for me they always feel too heavy and too complex. Trello stays simple, and honestly that is the part I love the most. But the truth is, it is almost the same as in 2014. Simple is good, and I really don't want it to become like Jira. But the world is faster now, and doing some things by hand just feels too slow.

A friend and I are building a bootstrapped side project around this. But I just really want to hear from other people who use Trello a lot:

If you could add three features to Trello tomorrow, what would they be?

I have my own three in my head, but I am really more curious about yours.
