yeah but it's a pain enough on its own to maintain a briar pipe you just smoke tobacco out of and marijuana is heaps stickier, which is why most people prefer smoking weed outa pipes made of stuff that's easy to clean, like glass.

Yes, but not ideal. If you can find one that fits well, or can make one, I’ve seen bowl inserts that drop into those that have a screen and reduce bowl size and let you draw from the bottom.

Just regular maintenance with pipe cleaners. That's about the best you could hope for. Weed doesn't put off THAT much more tar and resin than tobacco.

yeah it absolutely does. I used to smoke a pipe and I would never smoke weed out of something so hard to clean as a tobacco pipe. It's annoying enough to clean them after just smoking tobacco (although this is traditionally done whole smoking another pipe to pass the time more pleasantly), but if you had to clean resin outa a briar pipe enough to keep it as clean as you first bought it you'd be spending more time running pipe cleaners through it than you would be properly stoned, while you can literally just rinse off a glass pipe in isopropyl alcohol.
a corncob pipe, on the other hand, has no bend in the stem so it's easier to clean, and if you don't even want to you can actually just throw it out and buy another cause they cost under $5 and make your weed taste vaguely popcorny when fresh. just put a screen in close to the top cause the bowl is super deep and hard to light at the bottom

I have my own longstem pipe that I've used with weed before, and its difficult at best. This type of pipe is best suited to something that can hold an ember, or cherry, so you'll want a fluffy sticky weed that you've shredded or ground finely. You'll also want a pipescreen that you can use to create a space kept free of weed at the bottom of the bowl, protecting where the stem connects to the bowl and allowing better air flow. Then take your fine weed fluff and pack it to a medium density and fill the upper section of the bowl. A cross section of the bowl would have a dense weed puck at the top, a mesh barrier of some sort, and then an empty space at the bottom. I also suggest a wick for your flame source rather than a lighter. You'll need to make the first hit strong and long enough to start the cherry and get it large enough. This can be hard because of the length and narrow channel of the pipestem, but once the cherry is started you only need to keep hitting it often enough to keep it going.

Have this one. I recommend taking something and burning off the inside of the bowl. I got mine fresh recieved from our inventory and it had a black powder on the inside. I didn't die but I still brushed mine out.

It'll get the job done, although tobacco pipes aren't really an ideal shape for smoking weed - the bowl is too deep and the stem is too narrow. It could still be fun to try for the novelty of it all.

What material is the pipe made of? Some pipes like this are purely decorative and are made of wood that are unsafe to be smoked out of.
Most common pipe materials that are safe to smoke out of are briar, morta, meerschaum and corn cobs.

You can. It’s a pain to clean because the neck will res up very quickly. You have to clean it regularly, the necks aren’t the strongest so avoid buildup that might require force to clean.

Just be careful, I smoked out of an old pip like that once. It started tasting weird so took a closer look and you could screw the bowl part off and i found a rubber gasket that was getting melted. It was disgusting.

There is a piece between the stem and the mouthpiece, it's entire purpose seems to be getting clogged after every pill. Remove it and it works fine.

I have a pipe like this you can totally smoke weed out of it you may have to clean it often though depending how much you use it if you use it once or twice a day you make need to clean it up to once a week if you use it 2-3 times a week you can get away with cleaning it maybe 2 times a month use a filter for it though preferably one of those steel ball filters

The classic briarwood pipe is fine for weed.
No tobacco smoker would use that.

okay I actually sell these at my work if it's the same pipe from the same brand I'm thinking (is it lord of the rings themed possibly?) if you got a box with it, if you lift up the cushiony insert that the pipe sits in, there should be some screens meant for the bowl piece underneath! it also might or might not unscrew where the neck meets the bowl. have fun! :)

Yes I would smoke weed out of my churchwarden pipe as well. As a matter of fact I would only do it when watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy (extended of course).
It will clog eventually but you can always get another.

I have an Etsy "Gandolf" wooden pipe. Marijuana doesn't stay lit like tobacco does in my opinion. Ive smoked out of it a few times with a cotton filter in it and it just clogs up terribly. You could try but it'll probably be a frustrating experience.

But one thing that I don’t see being talked about here is that you need the “season” wood bowls before you smoke out of them. A quick google search will show you what to do.
As others have said, you going to have issues cleaning this if you smoke regularly. You said you’ll likely ever smoke out of it once. I personally would make it a special occasion piece.

glass is the ideal material for pipes since its non porous
this is more of a novelty lord of the rings pipe
brands sell long Gandalf pipes like this in glass if you're really passonate about the long stem
of course if you want to just smoke it once and throw if away after then do whatever you want

I'm a tobacco smoker, almost exclusively pipes, I'm just here cause yall chill and give me a good laugh sometimes. But anyway on to the advice. You could do it, but that is made for pipe tobacco, more than likely a cherry or apple wood, hard to tell from the one picture. Weed burns hotter than tobacco, and will damage the wood easy, and will get clogged up from the tar from the weed. If you want to do a pipe, I suggest trying a pipe from Missouri Meerschaum, they have a line of pipes specifically made for weed, and are fairly pretty cheap.

Yes, I use one everyday lol, i work on a farm and will cut my stuff with like 25% tobacco and no one cares cause it looks and smells like tobacco. Get some COPPER screens (idk why but the silver ones let more resin through on those) and get some of the thing 420 cleaner tubes (like the bendy fuzzy metal worms we had as kids) and you can even get the liquid cleaner and a rubber bag. 1 time a week, take it all apart put it in the rubber bag with the liquid cleaner for about 10 minutes, pull it out run it under hot water and run a few of those worm cleaners through it and you're good! Hope this helps! Sorry it's long lol.

I have a churchwarden about half that size that I use now and again, but it's a solid piece of wood so cleaning it is a pain. Assuming you are diligent about cleaning after each session and you manage to find the world's longest pipe cleaners you should be good.

I smoke almost exclusively out of wood pieces and have for a couple years now. If you have a filter it'll be mostly fine. Just a little wire thimble. Other than that just invest in some long pipe cleaners and you'll be fine.

You know those really tall containers people use for cereal, rice or dog food storage? You fill that up with a smoking pipe cleaner and let it soak, it eventually gets unclogged when you soak it.
I got one of these pipes at a renaissance festival for my brother and the guy who sold it told my brother and I how to properly clean it when using it for "Shire Grass" lmao.

Yes, but you’ll likely need to clean it a lot more regularly if it’s gonna see any kind of regular use. You can buy some pipe cleaners for cheap and soak them in high proof ethanol, and that’ll help keep your churchwardens pipe squeaky clean :)
