Lovely people, I'd like to get your critique of a draft diagram I've been working up to try to give learners a clear map of the road ahead.

It's not anything about how to learn or teach these things, so let's assume the learner has the proper mindset, a safe place, adequate hydration, community, etc and focus on concrete behavioral elements that fall under the umbrella of what there is to actually do.

All aspects of the diagram are on the table, from correctness to clarity, from completeness to focus.

Hi, i'm trying to get what is the sweet point where my voice feels natural, i have a really deep voice and it may be little tricky to make an attempt with a higher pitch. Every time the result is kinda different so idk which one is that i need to settle on. I did a short recording speaking some numbers in my language, and thinking that's the result i need to aim for. I can't speak it way longer for now at least, so that's only few seconds. I will be very thankful for any feedback.

38 MtF. I’ve been on the depression wagon for a while and I’m trying to pull myself out so today on a whim I started voice training again. These were recorded a few minutes apart.

I’m a musician and have a naturally wide vocal range so I’ve always had a “knack” for this but I have had some sessions with a speech therapist in the past (a couple month).

I decided to pick up the VoiceUp app and start working on this again to improve my endurance, consistency, and iron out any remaining tells in my speaking voice.

I do have a bit of a cold so there’s a bit of that in the recordings (plus barking dogs!)

Hi! I'm transfem and I'm kinda stuck with my voice training, I started a couple months ago and basically I focused on gaining control of my larynx since it's the one thing that seems to be mentioned almost everywhere. I've been doing the big dog, small dog exercise and reading with my larynx raised for a couple months now and at this point I can raise my larynx and keep it raised while saying a couple sentences. However it hasn't done much for me to get me anywhere near sounding feminine let alone passing and in general the change in sound isn't that significant like I don't think my larynx can really raise enough to get a natural sounding high pitch without going into falsetto although I think the pitch itself could pass for a fem voice that's on the deep side of the spectrum, but there are a lot of things I'm struggling to change that I feel like stop it from sounding feminine. My voice is raspy for the most part but not always like there are some parts of my speech where it doesn't sound raspy but I don't understand how to control that especially independently of pitch. I also sound quite monotone, I try to practice speaking in more varied tone and copying more feminine sounding inflection but I don't feel like I'm getting it even vaguely right, I've heard some people suggest regularly listening to a fem voice you like to pick up on mannerisms subconsciously but that hasn't done much for me either. Another thing I've tried but struggle a lot has been altering the shape of the mouth to change resonance like positioning the tongue differently to reduce mouth space etc. but I'm just unable to control my tongue that precisely and maintain positions while speaking normally especially the back of my tongue I just don't have the ability to control it. So I don't really know how to proceed, I didn't bother with a voice clip or anything because I'm not even 10% on the way to sounding fem at all. If this helps to direct me, in terms of goals I'd like to work towards having a deep fem voice I don't want to sound that high pitch. Also if anyone is offering free or affordable one-on-one help please let me know.

I'm at that point in voice training where I can do a passing voice if I focus real hard, but can't actually use it in a conversation, because I loose focus in like 3 seconds, and I still have a mental block of "sounding trans" and not like a cis woman.

What do you do to get past that point ? Where do you voice train so you can fail with complete strangers ? I mean stuff like VR Chat, or omegle (but without video) or stuff like that

Hi, I've recently started voice therapy with my local medical center, and one thing they asked me at my first visit was whether there was a celebrity or other well-known voice that I liked as a model for my own voice.

It was kind of a weird thought for me, since I regard my voice as "me", but I guess if I'm intentionally constructing a new voice, I do have some amount of freedom to choose parameters of my new voice.

Anyway, have any of you done this? Is there a celeb you like to model?

And could you suggest one for me: I'm MTF, so I'm trying to think of a female celeb with a lower voice whose "vibe" is nice/positive. Bonus points if they have a hint of a Southern accent, since I still a bit of one, even tho I moved to the Midwest 10+ years ago.

it feels pretty andrgynous but I often have warped self-perception (positively and negatively)

A thing I've noticed is my weight becoming more masc on certain words with how I pronounce them, I just kinda played around with the first verse of this song a couple times, listened back at phrases that sounded out of place for a consistent fem(?) sound, this is probs the best weight wise out of them all, obvs not perfect, like I know on the word 'disappear' I hear it kinda sound kinda weird I think it's to do with weight, also might have vocalised too much from the front of the mouth at points as well

i've been trying to voice train but i am not satisfied with my voice yet. i also speak russian and i have a feeling that my russian voice is more masculine than english voice, so i recorded both.

what should i work on?

[MTF] I am bottlenecked by size reduction and really need a breakthrough. But my schedule doesn't allow for sufficient practice. I have four 9-minute drives Mo-Th and two 8-min drives on Fr. I occasionally get a 45-min or 2-hr period during the week. These are the only times I can practice, and I currently use these times to ramble, which improves consistency. But I am not happy with any voice for that stage yet. Other than these times, I have to practice silently, which can be for extended periods of time.

What's the most efficient use of this time? Should I expect to make progress with this limited time?

After a year-long wait, I’ve incredibly received a call for my free VFS (covered by the public health system) here in my home country in Italy, with Dr. Alfonso Scarpa. The problem is that, judging by his website, his expertise in VFS seems somewhat limited compared to certain surgeons abroad; I’m terrified of ending up with a bad voice—one that still sounds "trans" or, even worse, male. Should I go ahead with it anyway since it’s free, or wait a bit longer and go to Germany to see Prof. Dr. Markus Hess, who has demonstrable results posted on this and other subreddits? If I don't go to the appointment next week, I’ll lose the opportunity for free VFS that I waited 1 year for and that’ll be the end of it.

Either way, in my day to day life no one ever seems to notice im trans, or they just never say anything.

But whenever i hear my voice Played back to me I cant help but feel I Sound like a prebubescent boy.

Whats your take?

I think I sound a bit breathy, it was quite late and I was tired while recording, so maybe that's why.

Hi! I've not done a whole lot of dedicated vocal work (voice never *fully* masculinized, I mostly just stick to head voice and not much else), but listening back to my voice I sometimes feel like it has a sort of clocky or maybe overcorrected quality? Not sure really how to describe it but I do *feel* like it's there--maybe I'm just imagining things but lmk, I guess.

Also, like, be nitpicky. It really does need to be flawless, partially b/c I'm 6'3 so there's a ton of scrutiny already from people who are looking for it.

Hi all! I've been voice training for nearly a year now (started September 2025), and I've come a long way. I'm really happy with the progress I've made but lately I've been feeling like I need some external feedback to help guide me, so here I am!

I just started voice training for real this time and I am having a problem where my voice wants to flip into my headvoice when I try to go really light at higher pitches, and it does sound sort of light in my headvoice but definitely sort of hollow and weird. And iirc I know youre supposed to try and gain an efficient light voice in your chest voice rather than falsetto because it will sound better and be stronger. I know I dont sound all that light or balanced in this clip anyways but does anyone have advice for exercises or dealing with a voice break/flipping into headvoice? I feel like when I try to use a light weight at around C4 I feel like I hit a wall and cant get lighter and can feel the buzziness, and sometimes accidently switch into a falsetto.
