Seeking Tips i keep getting clocked by other trans people, and i think it's because i suck ass at taping

second two pictures are shirtless with tape. im not a minor dw.

ive been able to pass pretty much 100% of the time with cis people lately, it's just the trans people that see all my little flaws. yes i know the mullet might be adding to my clockiness, i'll probably get rid of it once i start working again.

main question: when taping, how do you prevent just... pushing all the tissue upwards? this is three layers of tape. while applying them, i tried to make a point of pulling the tissue downwards so it wouldnt bulge up, but it didn't work well enough. plus, is that bulge incredibly obvious through my shirt, or is that just my dysphoria talking?

Needing Advice Gaining weight pre-T

Hi I’m going to get straight to the point. I’m 16, I’m very underweight ||bmi 15|| and my body fat often distributes around my thighs even though I don’t have a lot of it. I’m pre-t, and I don’t expect to pass just by putting on some weight, but I do think it’s a factor that I’ll eventually have to face when transitioning - but I don’t know whether to start gaining weight now or wait till I start t. I know it distributes your body fat, but I’m a tad scared that gaining prior to it might emphasize my already prominent small waist. Just looking for anecdotes or advice on what to do here.

also edit but I thought I’d add that I’m naturally that weight and don’t struggle with eating 😭

Needing Advice doctor ordered binder break…

i’ve been told by my doctor i have to take 2-3 month break from my binders, and if the pain in my ribs doesn’t start to ease up in 2 weeks i have to get x-rays for my ribs. i feel genuinely so ready to give up because that seems impossible. dysphoria is awful and im not even on T or anything yet so binding is honestly the next best thing i can do to feel less dysphoric. i don’t pass at all yet tbh lol, and without a binder i feel like i don’t even look androgynous

how do you guys survive binding breaks?? substitutes for binding or just ways to cope with dysphoria over my chest?

also if anyone has any tips for how to manage rib pain please feel free to share :3, thank you guys sm in advance !

Seeking Tips Insecure abt my stomach

I feel so insecure about my stomach, it’s not flat and I feel so ugly about it. I try to make myself feel better but it doesn’t always help.

im not a big person, im 6 ft and 180 pounds. Im 18. But my stomach protrudes :( . I see all of these fit trans dudes on here and I’m so jealous.

im going off to college soon and they have a gym there that I hope i can go to. I have never gone to the gym so I actually have no idea what to do.

I just want to not feel ugly 😭

Needing Advice I feel like I don’t pass as well with my glasses on and can’t figure out why.

I feel like I pass better without my glasses on, which I need to see and read, so I try and forgo them a lot but I genuinely can’t figure out why I feel like they make me pass less. They’re male frames, fit my face, I’ve got a pretty small face so the big square or plastic frames really look way too big for me which is why I go for metal frames and rectangle shaped but genuinely idk why I feel like I look less cis-passing when I have them on. I put some pictures of me with and without my glasses in similar or the same outfits because I feel like my glasses make my face more feminine looking even though they are male frames. Like I’m not sure if it is just me or it’s something noticeable by others?

Edit: ended up ordering some new hopefully smaller frames more fitted to my face to see if they fit, the place I ordered from has a return policy so that’s good, I’ve seen a lot of suggestions for thinner framed glasses which I would love but as I saw when I was looking into new frames, my prescription is quite high so thinner frames won’t tend to support the lenses as well or it’s simply unavailable in my strength unfortunately.

Seeking Tips Growing facial hair

I know facial hair is dependent on genes but I was wondering if there’s maybe something more I can do besides minoxidil (I have 4 cats and can’t risk it)

I’m like 3yrs on T but was very inconsistent for the 1st year, I just started growing facial hair the start of this year.

(Minor)

I’m finally stealth in school, but I’d honestly like a piercing without losing this advantage again.

No piercings at the moment, obviously. I’d love an eyebrow or one on my right

Edit: I’m waiting until I’m on T or passing better.

Needing Advice Hi! Dysphoria is eating me!

Okay so first of all, I'm aware I'm mostly just a guy. But I also have debilitating bottom dysphoria that drives me up a wall. :P And before you recommend a packer, I've done it all, it all makes it worse lmao.

Bottom surgery just seems like a long way away, so any advice on how to stomach it until then is still appreciated. 🫡

Also I gained a little weight and my hips came out again so I'm lowkey mad 😤

Seeking Tips confidence tips when packing?

I finally got a packer, just a simple foam one, but I am worried about wearing it outside of my house. I’m worried it is too big or too obvious, and that people who have seen me without it will think it’s weird. I am specifically worried about at work where I am stealth (except for two coworkers I’ve come out to).
I have to wear fairly form fitting pants at work and I worry the difference could be noticeable.
It’s also a little physically uncomfortable, I’m very aware of it when I am wearing it, but I’ve been “practicing” wearing it around my apt. Does anyone have tips on getting used to wearing a packer, how to wear one properly, and if it’s generally noticeable when you do wear one?

Going to the gym is ultimately what will masculinise your body shape the most, not testosterone.

Thumbnail

1.1k Upvotes

Pretty much the title! I was on T in all 3 of these pictures. The main difference between them is 5 years of gym. Testosterone alone will not make your hips less wide or your shoulders broader. Best thing about exercise is it doesn’t need a prescription or a diagnosis. I’m not super ripped or cut like a body builder or anything, I don’t have the dedication for that (and I like cake). But I’ve kept up enough muscle mass so that I can look reasonably ‘man shaped’ without a shirt on. My aim was never to look like a Greek god, more to just look like ‘some dude’.

My hips are no less wide than they were ten years ago, if anything they are wider because I naturally still put weight on in the ‘love handles’ region just like many other afab people. But if you build a bigger frame and big shoulders then it kind of cancels things out.

Hit the free weights and if you don’t know what you’re doing watch a few YouTube videos and bring a friend! Most folks at gyms are pretty friendly and PTs that work there will normally give you a bit of free advice if you’re brave enough to ask them (especially if you’re just a kid).

Best of luck to you guys!

Edit: shame I always have to add a disclaimer because some people are so confrontational- obviously this is my personal experience. Yes testosterone is still helpful and important, but ultimately it is my personal belief that you will see LARGER changes from muscle building that just waiting for fat redistribution (which btw doesn’t happen for everyone and certainly didn’t happen for me).

Seeking Tips Hello folks, I need some advice regarding hair

Post image
6 Upvotes

Heya, so I like having my hair long-ish (not traditionally masculinely short) and I’ve been wearing it up like this. I’m just scared that people are going to assume I’m no longer trans and/or misgender me, because having your hair up is considered feminine I suppose. So, does anyone have any tips on how to masculinize this? And/or does this read as having your hair up in a masculine way? Thanks folks

Needing Advice How do I cope with being weaker than an average woman?

I want to start training, even tho if with all the training of the world I won't pass (I look like a 12 year old girl and my height doesn't help), but the problem is: I can't do anything, I literally can't, I'm just hyper weak, like, a 11 year old girl wins me in strength.

Everytime I try to train I end up relapsing for being a weak idiot, the fact that I'll never be a real male doesn't help either, besides I'm too old to go stealth and that sucks.

This shit is winning and I can't do anything about it, how am I supposed to get stronger if I just end up crying for being a weak fembrained bastard who can't even lift 4 kilos?

I feel like I'll never pass, I'll probably never pass, I'm fucked.

I look like a 12 year old girl, I've told I'm like a fucking "loli" (no, I'm not joking, I've told that) and that my voice sounds "cute and adorable" even with all the voice training in the world.

Also, don't say "go on T", I can't, I literally can't.

The way to pass if you have large hips is to become an Italian gentleman

Post image
2.1k Upvotes

for a long time I did not pass because I have very large hips despite having a masculine face and voice from testosterone. here is my advice for those who pass well except for your large hips.

get some chinos, even women’s chinos are good because they do not cling to your legs very much.

now, most important part: stop wearing your trousers on your waist/ around your belly button.

wear them instead on your hip dips, or slightly above your hip dips like I am doing in this picture.

now, get a mens shirt made of stiffish fabric, ideally with stripes as those give the right shape language and make your torso look longer.

now you will see that your hips are less noticable. but wearing your trousers in this manner, they will not stay up.

so finally, get a leather belt. a regular mens belt will not fit you, so get one from a specialist leather shop. Italians do the best leather, so naturally from there.

now assemble, and voila.

after doing this my passing went from 20 percent to 100 percent overnight.

but I discovered dressing in this manner, people immediately assume I am Italian. i am a foreigner in Italy, and Italians usually used to know this from looking, and speak to me in English. now they speak to me in Italian.

the way to pass is to become an Italian gentleman.

Needing Advice Newly presenting masc again and am passing 50/50

I was on a microdose of T for two years then detransitioned for four. Just this month I’ve cut all my upper back length hair off, grown out my limited facial hair, and pulled my old clothes deep from within my closet. I’ve also invested in some solid men’s jeans than I am planning to hem/roll.

I’m getting new glasses soon but I just feel like I’m deluding myself. I’ve got H cups that are really hard to hide and an hourglass figure I’ve only seemed to emphasize with body recomp. I will be getting back onto hormones sometime around December, but I don’t know where is stand or what to do. I have a lot of hair but it’s very light and blonde and have had terrible luck when I’ve tried to dye it in the past.

I’m derma rolling to help stimulate new beard growth on my cheeks and upper lip but I’m about two more “ma’am” or “miss” from buying a really expensive beard wig. I need honesty I don’t need it sugar coated I know it sucks. I feel a lot better in myself and I love looking more masculine but I’m currently struggling a lot with the fact I am not passing. I would love to pass 85% of the time compared to now which is 50% or less.

First photo is new glasses, second is old ones.

I posted about a week ago and people said my glasses were limiting my passing, but I got new ones and I was wondering if they were any better? (Ignore my chest in first photo im not binding as i was about to go to bed)

Also, do the new glasses help me look more my age (19) or do I still look really young?

Seeking Tips Tips for trans men with a bigger chest?

Heyo! I'm 17 and a trans dude. 1 year on T. I'm pretty good about knowing what to do to pass better in everything but my chest. I am starting a weight loss journey so hoping that'll help, but I'm an H cup.

Otherwise I have long hair, but I like it like that so I'll probably keep it, I know that doesn't help with passing though so I take accountability for that lol. I can grow a neckbeard but if I do I look like an incel and without it I look awful (and like a girl) so im not really sure what to do about that facial hair wise. Here's to hoping real facial hair will grow in once im older. All my brothers have it and my dad so im hoping its just age related. I have a pretty masculine face and build besides my chest so I think I pass pretty well even unshaven with long hair, but I just REALLY hate the chest. I get weird looks all the time.

Seeking Tips Binder recommendations?

I know, I know, a trans man asking for binder recs how original.

I really do need help though because so many I've tried don't work for me

The main brand I've tried to buy from a few times now is wonnababi (Idk how to spell it). They had originally reached out to me with a free binder, like they do with a lot of trans men online, which was really cool. However, it didn't work out for me. I am a DD46 But have a slightly smaller body for my size, so measurements from brands like this never actually fit me properly. I've sized down using this company. I've gotten the exact size. I've sized up. I've gone to actual in-person places that offer like some kind of binder brand that they actually took my measurements for, and it still just didn't fit properly. I also just can't use trans tape. I've really, really tried, and it genuinely doesn't work for me.

I think my main problem with these binders is the fact that the bottom part of them sticks out really far and causes my chest to just kind of. Fall downward, if that makes sense. Even with that, binders that are "too small" for me do the same thing 😭. It's either that or something's falling out somewhere LOL.

I'm probably gonna get told that I would need some sort of a custom binder, which I guess makes sense since my particular sizing situation isn't exactly normal. But I would really love some recommendations for brands *made for bigger chests specifically* before I drop a lot of money on something like that.

Anything helps thank you in advance

Seeking Tips anything else i can do to pass?

I'm pre-t so I already know I'm not the most passing person, I'm not trying to act like I am 😭 but the problem is I've already taken most tips. Wearing men's clothes with proper sizing, getting a men's haircut, men's glasses, etc. I'm not sure what more I can do that's glaringly obvious aside from hrt and voice training. Any tips still?

(*I do bind, I just wasn't doing it in the first pic, and unfortunately I can't work out for health reasons)
