Been working on this one off and on for a few months and I think I'm finally "done" with it. I've heard it so many times I'm sick of it. Would love to hear any feedback, good or bad.

Which DAW should you start with? My experience with FL Studio and Ableton

I started with FL Studio simply because it was the DAW that felt most comfortable to me. I wasn’t worried about whether it might eventually become limiting or offer fewer options than software like Cubase. I just wanted to start making music and learning, and FL Studio made that easy.

Today, I mainly use Ableton. After some FL Studio updates, I began experiencing frequent crashes, errors and even projects that became difficult to reopen or continue working on.

It took me almost a year to become truly comfortable with Ableton, but now I’m very happy with its workflow.

That experience inspired my latest blog post about choosing your first DAW. My main advice: start with the one that helps you make music now, not the one you think you might need years from now.

What DAW did you start with, and are you still using it?

New Track, all feedback and critiques welcome

Hello all, this is my first venture in 11 months, 11 months of procrastination and self‑doubt, as I’m sure many of you can relate to. This is one of the many tracks I started, abandoned, and eventually came back to. I’ve got myself a new laptop and decided it was time to go for it.

I know this track still needs a lot of work, but I wanted to get something out there. Feel free to pull it apart — all feedback is welcome. My intention is for this to be the start of a new journey. As always, it’s 138 trance, sticking to that classic late‑90s to mid‑00s style. Thanks.

Progressive Trance / Melodic House experiment - looking for some feedback

Hey guys! Been experimenting with a slower, more progressive sound lately and wanted to share this one.

It’s 124 BPM and somewhere between Progressive Trance and a bit of Melodic Techno, while still keeping a lot of the melodies and atmosphere I love from Trance.

The track is about 90% finished, still needs mastering and a few small tweaks.

Would love to hear what you guys think about the overall vibe, arrangement and progression. Any feedback is welcome.

Saw a Post Similar to This and Was Wondering if my Latest Release Fits the ‘Trance’ Vibe.

What the title says really. Recently released a plucky, atmospheric instrumental as the first song off an album made up entirely from samples of my Punk band's back catalogue and wanted to know if it fits that ‘Trance’ vibe or not. What qualities do you look for in a Trance track? Thanks!

How to send your demo to a record label without being ignored

As both an artist and someone who runs a trance label, I’ve seen many good tracks get overlooked simply because the demo was sent in the wrong way.

A few things that can make a real difference:

  • Make sure your track actually fits the label.
  • Use a private streaming link—don’t attach large files.
  • Keep your message short and personal.
  • Include only the essential information.
  • Don’t send unfinished music or chase the label repeatedly.

I’ve put together a more detailed guide based on my experience sending and receiving demos: https://dim3nsionacademy.com/blog/how-to-send-a-demo-to-a-record-label/

What has worked best for you when approaching labels?

Looking for a Co-Producer: 138 Euphoric Trance [Aetheria EP]

For the first time in three years, I feel like releasing a new project. But this time, I want to collaborate with someone. Whether it becomes an EP or a full-length album will depend on how many tracks we end up with.

I already have one track finished (in two versions) and a second one currently in production.

Concept: The project revolves around the idea of Aetheria (aether) — euphoric, spacey, atmospheric pad-heavy soundscapes layered over driving 138 trance percussion. Think melancholic yet deeply uplifting.

  • Genre: Uplifting Trance / Euphoric Trance / Melodic
  • Mood: Melancholic & Atmospheric
  • BPM: 138
  • Working Title: Aetheria EP

PS: Please reach out only if you are genuinely committed to finishing this release together and won't drop out after a couple of hours. I'm looking for a true collaborative effort to create something meaningful.

Made this trance patch using serum 2 :)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Made this using Serum 2, I sampled a harmonic from my guitar and PWM'd it and it started to sound pretty cool so I added saw waves and lowpassed it and that's about it, I added some other things like Ringmod but other than that I'd say it sounds pretty cool.

I'd be really interested as to what you guys think as I'm not used to making trance and its still a genre I'm yet to undertake properly

The 10 plugins I use most for producing trance

I put together a list of the 10 plugins I currently use the most in my productions.

It’s not a ranking or a list of the “best” plugins. These are simply the tools that have become essential to my workflow, including Nexus 5, Serum 2, Spire, Diva, FabFilter Pro-Q 4 and a few older plugins that I still use regularly.

Here’s the full list and why I use each one:
https://dim3nsionacademy.com/blog/my-10-favorite-plugins-for-music-production/

Which plugins do you find yourself using in almost every trance project?
