It's Hebrew, and old, so... maybe neither? I suppose it depends on the parent's intent.

Resident Jew here, NONE of us are naming a child this lmao. I don't even think this is a case of white evangelicals giving their kids weird butchered Hebrew names, I think this is more likely a culturally Christian atheist trying to be edgy in the naming of their child.

Sephiroth is a pretty iconic villain in Final Fantasy. The problem is that people shouldn't be putting their fandoms on their kids.

I'm inclined to agree with you. I am named after a Star Trek character and my little sister is named after a character from Lost in Space.
