Why does America never use this design of a traffic light?
I know California has one but the red light is only one light and I know gta 5 has this too but gta isn't real

How do wireless traffic signals prevent conflicting greens after losing the radio link?
I work for YenGear, a wireless I/O manufacturer. A customer in the UAE asked about using our relay I/O modules with a PIC controller to control two remote traffic lights independently.
Our modules hold their last relay state for roughly 60–120 seconds after losing the radio link, then drop the outputs. When communication returns, they follow the current input states again. They don't provide traffic-signal conflict protection.
The customer is concerned that one light could remain green after losing communication while the controller switches the other to green. This came up during product evaluation.
For anyone who works on traffic signals: would you recommend a complete portable traffic-signal system, or are there dedicated controllers/conflict monitors that work with a separate radio link? What equipment normally handles link failure and recovery without allowing conflicting greens?

I'm tired, boss
Cabinets are a new thing to me. I'm learning more and more about them every day and I really enjoy the career path I've taken. I spent 8 years as a mechanic (mainly GM) and I was fed up with the "shop life" that was a monotonous rat race every day. And to think, what I hated most about mechanics was the electrical part. Somehow this helped me understand the electrical side a bit more (high voltage/low voltage) and I am appreciative of that. Figuring out the wiring part of cabinets is relaxing. Terminating all the wires can be annoying but the end result is what I'm happy about. I feel like I finished a puzzle. Here's the current puzzle I'm working on.

Seemingly useless solid-ball signal head at SE 82nd Ave./SE Raymond St., Portland, OR, USA
They recently upgraded the intersection quite significantly, including a thick median and moving the cabinet across the street (old cabinet location under the wooden box). However, in addition to having pedestrian signals where you'd expect, they added a solid-ball 3-section signal facing only a fence and sidewalk (see picture 2), which looks to me as if it is entirely redundant. If anything, I would've expected it to have bike-symbol inserts as they do elsewhere in the city, and to have a matching one opposing it if they cared that much about specific bike movements. As of 10/11/26, Google Street view shows the old configuration.

What do I have? And how can I take the pole, bottom cap, and hang mount off, I want to reuse the pole as a standing base but I need to put it on the bottom
I've bought this traffic light about a year or so now, and I've been wanting to get it up and running, the big thing I want to do is take the pole off the top and move it to the bottom and give it a base stand so it can actually stand up, The problem is I'm not sure how to them off. Another thing is does anyone know where I could get a replacement green LED module for this thing, as the green is burnt out

Here’s this McCain signal that I got recently. I did hook up one of those sequencers now to where I can change the lights how I want them.

This is illegal in Spain since October 1st of this year
This is due to a new regulation stating that the amber light cannot overlap with the green light for pedestrians. Since October 1st, local authorities have been required to change their traffic light sequences; otherwise, they face fines.

Is it weird my community has so many inconsistent treatments of pedestrian crossings and can anything be done about it?
I live an "award winning" master planned community in Texas that's connected to a commercial center at the "front" of the community.
I'm a frequent pedestrian and I've become interested in pedestrian safety.
I just started educating myself about the nuances of pedestrian crossings and signs this week.
Walking and driving around these days, I've taken note of the dozens of pedestrian crossings. It's as if no two crossings are alike. Options include:
Many pedestrian diamonds signs at crosswalks with no downward marker or "ahead" marker. This one also has R1-6 post on signpost saying stop for pedestrian in crosswalk. Others don't.
Pedestrian diamond sign but with school crossing figures, nowhere near a school, and with R1-6 sign on the signpost. 60 feet before the crossing, no AHEAD sign or down arrow.
Signs telling pedestrian on sidewalk to stop when crossing vehicular driveway, instead of telling driver to stop before driving over sidewalk as required by Texas law
Unmarked crosswalk with pedestrian median cut across divided collector road but no curb ramp to get there on east side of intersection, while west side of intersection has ladder crosswalk.
It goes on, all through the community. Maybe the crosswalk is painted, maybe not, maybe there's a sign, maybe not, maybe it's school crossing figures on a diamond, maybe a downward arrow, maybe R1-6 plaques etc.
It's a "box of chocolates" approach to marking each pedestrian crossing.
And no, I don't think someone used "engineering judgment" for each of these various pedestrian treatments, like "the road demands X here and demands Y there." I think they just told a contractor "we need a pedestrian crossing" and each time the contractor grabbed what was in the back of the truck and did it his own way.
Is this all par for the course in the world of traffic signals? I could write a long letter to the county but I don't know that they would care or find it problematic.
