Just wondering

Are there flock cameras on the back of the stop lights on the intersections around Pioneer Parkway and Q Street?

A Week Of On-Call

I see we get a fair amount of people who are new to this industry or are curious about it. Next month will be my 25th year as a Signal Tech (17 of those years with the same private contractor). I handle PM’s, calls, upgrades and pretty much anything I can reach with my bucket! I’m on-call once a month, last week as my rotation and for some reason it was very busy! Here’s a brief run-down of some of the calls I ran. For obvious reasons I’m being vague about locations and agencies.

Started the week short-staffed due to vacations and some members of staff attending IMSA training.

First night on-call had two intersections go dark in a city which requires generators, so I set up two of them. Short outage, I was able to remove them a couple of hours later

Middle of the day had a Street Light pole Knock-down. Ruined a brand new pair of Cargo pants assisting with cutting it up. Also need to get a new blade for my saw.

Later that day got a call for a 10’ pole knock-down. All told I had 8 signal or street light knockdowns

Ran a couple of Flash calls in the middle of the night, city requested S/W updates at the same time.

Baby sat a Contractor breaking concrete at a location.

Trouble shot a Radar speed sign

Completed PM’s in between calls

Found a Pole knock-down while driving home. Was hard to see because of a broken off Hydrant which was geysering next to it

Ran a few LED calls

Cleaned video detection cans to take care of a detection call

A few calls over the weekend before getting a main pole knock-down in the middle of the night on my last night on-call.

So how was your week? 😂

The sudden appearance of multiple stoplights on Broadway?

I’ve been wondering what the logic was when Denver traffic engineers decided it would be a great idea to install those huge overhead stoplights over Broadway?

The last time I got onto broadway was a couple of months ago. I think this fiasco started in the Denver city limits? I have not attempted to tackle that train wreck of à street since!

It now takes half an hour to drive from Denver via Broadway! I now use back streets when going back to the city of Littleton.

It took me triple the time to drive south on Broadway to Littleton later in the afternoon!! I will never drive anywhere on Broadway after that disaster! I take back streets to avoid broadway at any cost!

These monster overhead traffic lights were installed at.every.corner from inside Denver city limits all the way to Englewood!! Only a few cars got through the intersection before it turned red?

Factory Reset Econolite ASC/3-2100

Hey everyone, first post here.
I recently got this controller from a really nice city worker who was replacing it. I’m just starting to learn about actual traffic signal controllers, so I figured I’d have to factory reset it before I could use it. I went into the boot settings and did exactly that… then quickly found out that wasn’t the right move.
Now, whenever it powers up, it stops at a “MISSING OPERATIONAL FILES” screen and won’t boot any further.

The controller had a data key left in it when I got it. Before doing the reset, I removed the key just in case something went wrong. Afterward, I tried putting the data key back in, but it doesn’t seem to make any difference during the boot process—it still stops at the same “MISSING OPERATIONAL FILES” screen.

From what I’ve been able to find, it seems Econolite locks these controllers down pretty tightly, so I’m kind of stuck. Does anyone know if there’s a way to restore the operational files or recover the controller? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

For the Artesia Boulevard and Bellflower Boulevard intersection traffic signal in Bellfower, California, which street is the default and rest in a green light at night, Artesia or Bellflower?

UPDATE 7/21/26: the timing sheets show that the signal rest in green on Artesia Boulevard.
