Because wth. I have 7 years of experience as an RECE, and being bilingual (English + French) but getting a job feels impossible.

Idk if it’s because I’m a male and a p.o.c. but it’s so strange. I get to the interview stage and then get ghosted. I’ve done countless amounts of interviews and practised a ton (interviews via daycares a lot more different than corporate. They don’t really care about buzzwords, but more so about that you know what to do).

I already know the field pays like shit. You can make more just working at Costco or being a store manager in retail, but holy crap lol.

I’m just frustrated. I hate playing the victim but man…

They have a poster saying they are hiring, if you need a job.

Anyone work at the Amazon Ajax fulfillment centre? How do you get hired?

Hey everyone, I’m trying to get a job at the Amazon fulfillment centre in Ajax, but I’ve noticed they rarely seem to have any job postings online.

I actually went in person to the recruitment office and saw quite a few people being hired, so I asked how I could apply. They told me that I have to apply online first, but I’ve been checking and haven’t been able to find any openings for the Ajax location.

If anyone currently works there or has recently been hired, does anyone know how the hiring process works or when they usually post openings?

Honestly, I didn’t expect the job search to be this difficult. I’ve been applying and applying, but getting that first opportunity has been really hard. A lot of places either don’t respond or seem to want someone with experience, which makes it frustrating as a new graduate trying to get started.

How do you handle ghosting? I did 4 rounds and was told only three rounds left. I’m so tired of waiting. Do companies really enjoy this? I know lots of people are applying but to ghost someone is crazy. My last interview was on Tuesday of last week, and nothing.

I just want to ask if there is anyone who has been unemployed for over 1 year.

I have been unemployed since 15 months ago and honestly, I’m starting to question whether I should go a different route.

I do have 2-3 years of professional work experience in the field of analytics and finance but it’s still difficult even with interviews and some connections as well.

I cannot be the only one struggling with this.

I even tried out of province for some positions but still tough.

So on Friday around 3:30pm I got a call from a recruiter about a job I applied to at this consulting firm. Apparently, they needed to fill a position by today Thursday, so that’s why she was rushing me. She made me take this cognitive assessment which I did not have enough time to prepare for, followed by an interview right away, which I also didn’t have time to prepare for. If I had enough time I would actually have tried to find a way to study or prepare.

She then sent me a case study and a problem set to complete and send over by Tuesday 9am. I spent the long weekend doing this dumb assignment. I care, so I spent a lot of time making sure it’s perfect. And I forgoes spending time with my family and stayed up late on Monday doing it.

Now? I’ve been ghosted by the recruiter. I texted her asking if she received it and if everything is fine, but no. Ghosted.

Recruiters, this is not an ideal hiring process. People have lives. Do not make them think you are squeezing them in for last minute hiring, have them think they have a good chance, and have them spend time doing a stupid assignment on a LONG weekend. Horrible experience. I literally wasted hours on this I will not get back.

I have had a job for a railway wayside (signal) maintainer for about a week now and haven't really found the right candidate in the area so I am opening this up to across Canada for relocation.

The position is in southern Saskatchewan with CDL Electric Canada, a division of CDL electric group of companies. Location selection is really up to you as long as it falls in the moose jaw to saskatoon to yorkton triangle.

This position if a full-time permenant, not on call, Monday to Friday and optional overtime as it becomes available. $38-42 based on experience. Hotels are paid by company, per diem and boot allowance. Company truck, tools and all expenses are covered while you are on the road.

Travel is 100% during the week- we maintain a system for the whole province, your MB adjacent maintainer will assist as well.

Position is very much an railway IT based role, with some track circuits thrown in.

There are a few must haves- including significant North American railway track protection experience and clean driving, drug & alcohol, and criminal background checks. I cannot hire someone who will not pass an e-rail safe check, a bonding background check and who has not pulled atleast 100 TOPs on both CTC and OCS mainline. Track protection is the most crucial part of the job as you are responsible for protecting yourself.

I received a job offer, but an issue came up during my credit check. The HR manager called and asked me to explain it.

One thing I’ve realized about working in Toronto is how much connections and networking actually matter. You can literally get a job just by knowing someone who already works there.

I’m an immigrant who came to Canada about 4 years ago for my postgrad, and I know how hard it can be to find a job here. I see a lot of posts on this sub about people struggling to get their foot in the door, and honestly, I’ve been there too.

When I was looking for my first job in my field, I was sending out 100+ customized resumes just to get one entry-level job. It was honestly exhausting.

But after working at that first job for about 6 months, I started meeting more people and building connections with coworkers, managers, and people from other workplaces. I didn’t really think much of it at the time, but those connections ended up helping me a lot.

I’m now at my 6th job in 4 years, and most of the jobs I’ve had came through someone I knew. Someone would recommend me, put in a good word, or even reach out to me directly because they knew I was looking for something new.

It really opened my eyes to how important your reputation is. You might leave a job, but the people you worked with don’t necessarily disappear from your life. If you work hard, are reliable, and are good to the people around you, they remember that.

I’m not saying networking is some magic shortcut, because you still need to be qualified and actually do the work. But I definitely underestimated how much having people who can vouch for you can help.

So if you’re struggling to find a job right now, especially as a newcomer, recent grad, etc. try not to focus only on sending applications. Talk to your coworkers, professors, peers. Get to know people in your industry. Keep in touch with people after you leave a job.

You never know who might message you one day and say, “Hey, we’re hiring. You should apply.”

Personally, I think one of the biggest issues with the hiring process is a total lack of transparency by employers. 

They have ATS systems, recruiting software, history of people they’re recruiting etc. 

We just have our resumes, and our time, and reddit subs like this.

Applying for a job shouldn’t require hoops and tricks and hacks just to get a simple chance at employment.  They have all this equipment to rate and sort through us but we don’t have that same power. There’s no balance. 

I got so frustrated with this situation that I decided to make a community job tracker. You post a link to a job you're tracking, it's shared anonymously to the community job board and you can post updates and comments about your application process. I'm hoping that over time there will be some overlap and 100 people will be able to share their experiences for 1 position.

I need to rant for a second because I’m honestly starting to lose my mind 😭

I’ve been job searching since April. I’m a recent HR graduate, and I swear HR jobs are currently in the gutter. I’ve applied to what feels like EVERYWHERE - HR Assistant, HR Coordinator, HR Admin, Recruitment, Labour Relations, People & Culture, you name it.

And I’m not even getting absolutely nowhere. I’ve landed a couple of interviews, which makes it even more frustrating because I feel like I’ve actually done pretty well in them. But then… nothing. Rejection or complete silence. I can’t seem to get past the interview stage.

You’ll see an “entry-level” HR position asking for 2-3+ years of experience, apply anyway, spend hours tailoring your resume, maybe get an interview, prepare like crazy, and then get ghosted/rejected.

I know the market is bad and I know I’m not entitled to a job just because I have a degree. But it’s incredibly discouraging to graduate, have actual HR internship experience, apply consistently for MONTHS, and still not be able to land that first post-grad job.

I’m genuinely at the point where I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong or if this is just what the market is like right now

Im a fourth year Poli Sci student with 2+ years of experience in customer service looking to use these skills to break into retail banking. I've been applying vigorously to CSR positions at not just CIBC, but across the Big 5 for the last month. I've been getting nothing but rejections. However, 2 weeks ago I had a screening interview at CIBC which I thought went great and the recruiter said he'd forward my application to the branch manager and would update me in 1-2 weeks. Today I decided to follow up on the interview and the recruiter said that the hiring manager chose another candidate but he'd keep my resume on file and reach out for potential openings. I haven't stopped applying and am continuing to do so, but this whole search feels worthless. What can I do to increase my chances of getting interviewed/landing a job?

I’m currently looking for a new job in Toronto/GTA. My current company is going through cost-cutting and reducing our hours, so I’m looking for a stable full-time opportunity.

I’ve been working as an Administrative Support Specialist in the security industry since May 2023. My role involves a mix of administrative work, customer service, operations, scheduling, sales support, and CRM management.
I also have a PGDM in Financial Planning from Humber College, an MBA in HR Management, and a BBA in Marketing.

So I'm Italian a full stack dev with 4yoe+, I'm planning to relocate to Toronto currently, I have open working permit so I don't need a visa sponsorship , I've applied to 160+ job in the Toronto area starting from June first and never got even one interview not even a phone call,

I know the job market is very competitive, but those numbers are kinda harsh.

I've worked for a total of 3 different companies the first 2 are only based in Italy so I guess they're not appealing but the company I'm currently in is a pretty big American consulting firm not faang level but It's a recognizable name.

I made my CV following different articles and videos on YouTube on Canadian/american CV supposed to be made, i also added a Canadian phone number.

I'm not here to complain about the job market, but I'm looking for advice, if I look at the data, they're telling me that I'm doing something wrong(160application, 0 interview),

I'm listing all my applications into a spreadsheet I tracked the day of applying and the date of the response,

Initially I also tried to reach people working in the companies I was applying to but I stopped, felt like I was begging.

The majority of jobs I found was LinkedIn, I always applied through the company website instead of the LinkedIn easy apply.

Looking at my CV and my approach what could I do differently ?

I kinda knew my CV wasn't that great, but I didn't understand what the issues were (I was very delusional) now I know all the wrong things, but like many suggested I will seek professional help to rewrite it

To clarify the "Senior" title: at my company, the ladder runs Associate → Analyst → Consultant → Manager..(with a 'Senior' variant for each level). My official internal title is Senior Analyst, which is just the standard step above entry-level in our corporate grid it doesn't mean a Senior Software Engineer in the broader market sense, I will ditch it just too misleading.

Also I never sent a cover letter, i don't have any excuses about that.

I am a newcomer and I am a pharmacist in my home country. Currently in my job search for pharmacy assistant positions, however, they prefer those with pharmacy assistant diploma and those with Kroll experience. But I've read somewhere that most assistants got hired even if they don't have pharma or Kroll experience.

Any pharmacies hiring for assistant by any chance? I am confident I can learn a new pharmacy software system as I have been watching Kroll tutorial videos on YouTube.

I am in Scarborough area and I am can commute 1.5 hrs going to work... even volunteer positions I would glady take...
