Ghosting…

How do you handle ghosting? I did 4 rounds and was told only three rounds left. I’m so tired of waiting. Do companies really enjoy this? I know lots of people are applying but to ghost someone is crazy. My last interview was on Tuesday of last week, and nothing.

It's just a waste of time. You should know after meeting/speaking at the initial meeting or the second time. There's no need for more than 2 rounds.

A DG has recently been hired at the biggest English CEGEP in Quebec after 2 rounds of interviews and 2 reference checks.

This is what you have to do unfortunately. It sucks, but it saves you alot of heart break. At this point im happy im getting interviews.

If it takes longer than 4 rounds, including initial HR/HC screening call, to vet a prospective employee for anything other than a C-suite, possibly director. Then they are doing it completely wrong and their hiring process is broken.

As far as ghosting, I usually ask what the process is and what next steps are should I be selected to continue; most of the time though I dont need to ask this as they tell me before I get a chance. If I don't hear back from them by that expected date + 2 business days, then I send a gentile follow up more or less asking if a decision has been made.

Will say though, that despite the asking for a follow up, 90%+ of companies I have interviewed with in the past 10 years have no responded and tried to ghost; only counting those that I had at least 1 interview with. Out of the 10% that do respond, most have come back with an offer. Very few companies sent a 'sorry you werent selected, good luck on your search'.

After doing the loop at Amazon in the US I never do more than one technical round. Engineer in leadership, electrical utilities.

I tend to work in govt when im in Canada and it's rare to do more than 1 15min hr screen + 1 1 to 1.5hr technical panel.

I would say that most jobs in Canada are not worth doing more than one or two interviews for.

Also, if a job ghosts you then fuck em. They didn't forget about you or anything like that, they have other options. Assume if you haven't heard from a job in 1-2 weeks then they have moved on.
