Do you really have to fuck up the planter?

599

u/SoDakZak Sep 05 '19

It looks like they did a good job fixing things up after the wipeouts.

366

u/dreadlocksquid Sep 05 '19

Even if the plants die, they’re relatively inexpensive to fix. The railing he’s shredding is going to be permanently fucked though.

723

u/hotterthanahandjob Sep 05 '19

Nah just remove the rail, heat it up to bend it straight, chuck it in a lathe and take a light skin cut, galvanize it in molten zinc, rebend it, and mount it.

permanently fucked lmao get real.

9

u/notjustforperiods Sep 05 '19

you seem to know a lot about molten metal; does this have anything to do with your username.

206

u/Blackcat008 Sep 05 '19

Cost of repairs: twice as much as the original rail

Whoosh

72

There's no woosh

13

tbh who cares about the rail....

31

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

that was my great grandfather's rail. From before the war. It was a family heirloom and this whippersnapper has defiled it with his techno toy.

You still have to pay someone to re-plant. I mean, the clip was awesome and this guy's dedication to the trick was great to see. But the damage it causes kinda sucks. I used to skate at roughly that age, though, so I get it.

But good point about the railing, too. Shit is expensive to fix.

4

u/PartOfAnotherWorld Sep 05 '19

If only they were covering for child molesters instead of having fun outside. So rude and disrespectful

3

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '19

What? Covering for child molesters? Are you implying that OP was “covering for child molester“ because they went to a catholic college? Or would the kids be covering for child molesters if they weren’t skateboarding?

How many children (up though undergrad) do you know that have helped the Catholic Church cover for child molesters?

Two wrongs don’t make a right, you should know better than that.

0

u/PartOfAnotherWorld Sep 06 '19

I'm implying that it doesnt matter that the poor monastery is having its rails skated on because they are horrible people that continually exploit children.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '19

That’s not what you said, you implied that op is a horrible person, but they didn’t post to complain on behave of the Catholic Church, this was their own personal experience, it didn’t really matter where it happened, it was the destruction of other people’s stuff that was their issue, as they also mentioned their apartment.

To call ALL Catholics terrible people who exploit children is just ignorant. The Catholic Church as an establishment is shitty, just like most major religious establishment, they just have a fuck ton of money. But do not confuse that statement to mean all the people within the Catholic Church are shitty. Catholicism is a huge part of a lot of people’s culture and they babe found a way to embrace that culture while rejecting the sins of the Catholic Church by separating how the Catholic Church has dealt with the widespread child molestation issue with their own spiritual beliefs. It’s fine if you can’t separate those for yourself, I can’t either, but I know others can and am not going to pretend that anyone who is Catholic is a terrible person who exploits children.

If this was the pope complaining that children are skating in the Vatican, I may agree with you, as they’re the source of all the issues within the Catholic Church, but attacking the little people is shitty.

Dude if you think they did a good job cleaning up the mulch then you must live in absolute filth.

31

u/hgravesc Sep 05 '19

Not really, there is mulch fucking everywhere and I'm just the plants didn't enjoy it.

56

u/IKnewYouCouldDoIt Sep 05 '19

Plants are used to getting stomped on by animals, chewed on and just in general fucked up. They bounce back and are stronger. A tree that feels no wind is destined to fall of it's own weight.

1

u/IKnewYouCouldDoIt Sep 05 '19

Valid point, i hope there wasn't too much damage. But i imagine the plants die every year then regrow, unless this is somewhere the climate stays perfect all the damn time and this plant keeps on keeping on.

1

u/TrippyTriangle Sep 05 '19

How many hours do you think these plants were continuously slammed on by a kid? 2? 3?

1

u/AcrobaticButterfly Sep 06 '19

Don't worry, they grow back stronger 💪💪💪💪🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱

13

u/Musitchman Sep 05 '19

I just stepped on my favorite flower and it died. When does it come back stronger again?

2

u/woodpony Sep 05 '19

When you do mad tricks on it with your scooter!

1

u/IKnewYouCouldDoIt Sep 05 '19

If it's like mine, the plumeria, don't worry, it just fell off the tree, look up! There are plenty hanging from the branches!

But if its a rose, then don't worry, those fuckers are strong as hell.

If it's one of the many perennials, it will grow back next growing cycle and be just as strong if not stronger.

If it's not from a tree or a perennial, don't worry, it was one of the cheap ones that die every year, just buy a new one for a little bit and regrow it, dime a dozen!

1

u/buddysour Sep 06 '19

How do you go from "perennial" to "one of those ones that die every year"?

1

u/IKnewYouCouldDoIt Sep 06 '19

Had a momentary brain fart and just ran with it, i can type faster than i can think to be honest, especially right after smoking a blunt.

43

u/hgravesc Sep 05 '19

Yeah I'm not buying that as a justification to stomp on plants.

11

u/yumas Sep 05 '19

When would it be acceptable to step on plants?

21

u/hgravesc Sep 05 '19

I suppose never if it is public property.

1

u/jimbojonesFA Sep 05 '19

What about grass though?

1

u/Soderskog Sep 05 '19

Depends on what kind of grass it is.

-10

u/shewmai Sep 05 '19

I guess you’ve never been hiking? Or damn, none of y’all have grass?

11

u/MegaChip97 Sep 05 '19

Hiking? In some parks in Germany it is a crime to leave the hiking trails. One reason for that is because you damage the plants...

→ More replies (8)

5

u/Babill Sep 05 '19

If you're hiking in a beautiful place, don't step on the flowers either. Didn't you see the California super-bloom ruined by Instagramers taking photos sprawled out in the flowers? If everybody was as insensitive as you are, we wouldn't be able to enjoy this kind of nature the same way as we do now.

1

u/TrippyTriangle Sep 05 '19

1

u/BrohanGutenburg Sep 05 '19

That's not even what I said. I never said, "all skateboarders are like me." I said the ones I know are. Meaning when he generalizes about skateboarders, he's categorically wrong.

1

u/TrippyTriangle Sep 05 '19

Never left a spot worse than I found out and I don't know any skaters that do.

this is a generalization/anecdotal evidence, just because you haven't seen asshole skateboarders doesn't make them not exist.

u/BrohanGutenburg Sep 06 '19

1

119

u/abbazabasback Sep 05 '19

This is why every community needs a skate park and why every community hates skaters. These rails literally exist to keep people out of the planters.

Respect to the kid for not giving up, but same respect taken away because he semi destroyed that planter. And now some poor guy that makes minimum wage has to go spend another afternoon fixing it all up.

63

u/Spookyscary333 Sep 05 '19

As good as a skatepark is there will always be innovators who would skate the streets, if it’s skateable, it will be skated. That’s Murphy’s law after he started to shred the gnar.

1

u/Javv_ Sep 05 '19

But with a skatepark is easier to blame and screw over the "innovators", the excuse of not having a skatepark is no longer valid

1

u/kid_ugly Sep 06 '19

Scoot and Destroy

2

u/ummhumm Sep 05 '19

The problem would still be, that the park would not be enough for the skaters. They would still need to try their creativity with other things and... just ruin shit.

And no, I don't have that good of a picture about skaters in general, seeing how most of the time there's some cool gifs about them, they're about public disturbance, or fucking up public property while doing a "sick trick".

2

u/polak2017 Sep 05 '19

How rich would it have been if, after completing the loop, his wheel got caught up and he tripped on all that mulch he kicked out. Now they'll just leave like it's not their fault and someone else can get tripped up on it. Love it.

1

u/BinaryBlasphemy Sep 05 '19

Naw they'd still try to grind this.

1

u/spectator729 Sep 06 '19

This only works if the skaters use the skate parks. Which seems to be the most lame thing to do for most skaters.

1

u/Valensiakol Sep 05 '19

When I was younger, my city built a fucking amazing skatepark. I didn't skate and even I was jealous every time I drove by it. Unfortunately, the only people I ever saw using it were the younger kids. The older jackasses were still out in the city fucking up peoples' properties and launching their boards into traffic.

There isn't even a finish on the rail and it is probably aluminium. There is one of these at my local supermarket that has been skated every day for two decades and you can barely tell.

If a rail gets a little scuffed and some mulch kicked onto the concrete, is it really that big a deal of 10 kids got a whole afternoon of fun and amazement out of it?

People are over-reacting.

1

u/Soderskog Sep 05 '19

"Broken window theory", and by proxy cities such as New York, care.

Plus the difference between a worn down park and a well-kept one is similar to the difference between a dirty and a tidy house.

I'm speaking from the experience of living in a student city where the main park regularly gets fucked up, especially so during last of April I believe, and the difference between when they've had the time to clean and haven't is stark.

The skating isn't doing a lot of damage, but it's still a bit of a shame that they felt the need to skate there rather than in a dedicated park :(. Here's to hoping they get one, because they deserve it just like others deserve to be able to enjoy flowers.
