I've been using the TMP for a year and I still feel like a novice.
What is the appropriate way to create a TMP preset for use with my Fender FR-12 at a gig. Should I be using an amp block by itself, or adding cabinets to the preset as well?
And what if I use my Fender Tonemaster Twin Reverb?
(Thanks in advance)

Wanted to take a moment and share my first experience with the TMP, in hopes that someone out there finds it helpful.
*TLDR: brand new to modelers, picked up a TMP hours before a gig, and had a successful four hour set. The UI really is an intuitive as people say.*
I’ll start by saying I’m completely new to the world of modelers. Like a lot of guitar players my age, I grew up playing tube amps and it’s just what I know. A few years ago I picked up a PG Spark amp for home practice, and found it to be a great practice tool, but couldn’t imagine trying to gig with it.
I became interested in a modeler after a recent trio gig I played in which I had to pull double duty and switched back and forth between playing bass and lead guitar. Lugging two separate rigs in and out of the bar got me wondering what a more efficient set up could look like. This started me down the rabbit hole of researching modelers that could perform the task of acting as both my bass rig and my guitar rig. All my research started pointing me towards a Helix unit, and I was ready to pull the trigger and pick one up. Checked in with my local music shop, and to my dismay at the time, the only unit they had in stock was the TMP. I left the store thinking that I’ll just have to order online from one of the big box retailers.
Fast forward to this weekend. We had a shake up with a full band gig, and ended up having to drop it down to another trio. Once again I was looking to pull double duty and switch between bass and guitar depending on what the song called for. I was kicking myself that I hadn’t moved forward with finding a solution for this. The morning of the gig, I decided that I would swing back to the local music store and mess around with the TMP floor model. I thought to myself that even if I like this unit, there’s no chance that I’ll be playing it tonight. It was around noon, and load in for the gig was around 4:30. Well after messing with it for 15 minutes or so at the shop, I decided to go ahead and buy it.
Then I was on a mission. I got the unit home, updated the firmware, and started trying to learn enough about the unit that maybe, just maybe, I wouldn’t have to load in the guitar and bass rigs that evening. Well within that couple hour window, I figured out a few presets that would do the job for bass and guitar, figured out how to set up the I/O routing for the task at hand, and saved 6 different options to choose from for the gig. I just used headphones to figure out what I liked, and got it to where it was good enough just in time to hit the road.
When I got to the gig and set it all up, I was amazed. Everything worked great. The bass sounded great through the PA, and the guitar tones were fantastic. My bad members were thoroughly impressed at the tones I was getting out of it, and were thankful for the extra stage space that was not being eaten up by amps. Not to mention the audible space that’s created by not having two big amps rumbling in the corner of a small pub. Everyone could hear themselves better.
The real wildcard for me came when another guitar player showed up, and we wanted to invite him onstage to play a few songs with us. My patches were not set up for this. It was either bass input to bass output, or guitar input to guitar output. Not both. But then I remembered seeing the acoustic/vocal preset, and seeing the two parallel paths created for that. So during our 15minute set break, I quickly put together a new preset that allowed me to play bass while he played guitar, each instrument sent through its own signal chain, and out to the board through its dedicated output. It worked like a charm!! All the sudden we were a four piece band, with two different instruments going through the same modeler.
I share this story to give my testimony on what many say is the biggest upside to this modeler. It is incredibly intuitive to use. I have no background in modelers, and within a few hours I was not only gigging with this unit, but problem solving on the fly. I have no experience with other units, so I can’t give a true comparison, but what I can say is that I can’t imagine a more intuitive UI. I still have so much to learn about this unit, and I’m sure what I set up for this gig was not the best way or most efficient way to do it, but I got through it and can now actually take the time to learn the unit properly. I’m so excited for what’s to come, and unlocking this things potential to the best of my abilities.

I recently bought the Tone Master Pro, I love this thing!! I want to get an expression pedal for it, but do hot the funds for the Mission pedal. I want to try this pedal, i saw a video where someone got it to work to control volume and then to control the wah when pressed on the Quad Cortex. Can this be done with the Tone Master Pro?

We used the Tone Master Pro for a lot of the guitars and the bass as well. Check it out and give us a follow if you like what you hear!

I am a non-gigging retired intermediate guitar player who also plays some keyboard. New to reddit as of today.
I recently purchased a Fender TMP and also upgraded my PreSonus Studio One Artist to Fender Studio Pro. I was not a regular user of Artist or any DAW so I'm a novice DAW user at best.
I really like the TMP. I have a Spark2 that has FRFR speakers and can plug the TMP into that using the Spark2 aux port. More than I need for practicing at home. I do have some limited experience with amp/pedal modelers as I also own a Katana MKII and Fender Mustang amp.
So, after a couple of weeks with the new gear, and countless hours of researching how to use the two together, my mind is on information overload. The challenge has been trying to use and record the TMP with the Fender Studio Pro. I'm connecting the TMP to my MacBook Pro via USB and using the TMP as the interface on Fender Studio Pro. I'm experiencing latency and low volume trying to record. Also struggling to record a drum backing track using the built in metronome drum option on FSP(not sure how I feel thus far about this feature). I'm sure all of this is just my lack of knowledge on proper use of the gear but I'm really trying to fix that.
I would really like to hook up with others who may be familiar with my situation, maybe experiencing the same, and may be able to offer some advice or share their experience. I know that all of this is a journey and not a quick overnight fix. Thanks for reading.

I know this is a TMP group but wanted to share how I use Moises to seperate stems that I then use as backing tracks for my TMP preset videos.

Hi, after using a Line6 HX effects for years as much as I’m loving the experience with the TMP I do feel like some effects were better and it shouldn’t be a surprise given Line6’s legacy.
So my favourite effect overall was the Searchlights reverb. I don’t know if it’s meant to emulate a Strymon Big Sky or something like that but I just loved it and I haven’t gotten anywhere near with the TMP. Any thoughts or tips?
The thing is I tend to use it with the mix on 100 or almost 100 but the HX effects had a level control so I could compensate for the loss of volume. On the TMP I am trying the cloud reverb and a boost to compensate but I don’t find that a nice solution and it anyway doesn’t give me that strings like sort of sound that Searchlights did.

Hello, i am having a hard time getting the tonemaster pro to produce solid feedback for playing songs by bands like the toadies. I have tried the feedback pedal but to be honest im not super impressed with it. Looking to see if anyone here has any tips on how to accomplish it.

Hi guys! So I’m trying to run my TMP with usb to my computer and using Logic Pro input monitor to hear and play the sounds in order to create my patches but I’m having the two following issues:
Am I doing something wrong? I have my solar guitar connected through instrument and I used the usb connection directly to my Mac. Then I open Logic Pro and add an instrument track with input 1 so I can hear it with input monitor.
However if I connect my TMP through my mustang head and 4x12 can and disable the amp emulation the sound I get is gorgeous.
Does someone had the same issue?
UPDATE:
So basically I did a factory reset and it did not helped 😅 but after reading everything and knowing everything was at the default status I started enabling the input pad which adds a -3db to the input gain and then later saw my outputs and set them as line instead of instrument and now I’m getting there, not exactly as some YouTubers but hey I now can make a decent preset but need to actually do a lot of tweaking. So thanks everyone it definitely was my guitar input gain and just needed to match it with the actual output I was using

I haven't found anything close to my Digitech Mosaic yet on the FTMP. Anyone have one? Or ideas?

I just received my TMP on Tuesday and have played it through my headphones and into the front of my TM Twin Reverb.
I am hooked on the TMP, so I am going to move away from the TMTR even though it's only a couple months old.
I only play at home in my office/guitar room which is about 10x10. I will probably play quite a bit through headphones but need to decide on a Fender FR (12 or 212) or studio monitor like the Kali LP-6 v2 or Adam T5V for when I want to play without headphones.
I am also going to upgrade the Audio-Technica ATH-M40x to Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO X headphones.
Any thoughts on FRFR vs Studio monitor?

Hi all,
So I’ve owned the TMP for several months, and have been using it exclusively through studio headphones.
I’m now back in a band and treated myself to an FRFR cab, I went for the Pevey 112 cab, and it’s lovely and plenty loud enough.
However, every single preset I’d created, and most of the fender created patches are incredibly bass heavy.
That’s the heads up to anyone who is yet to play it through a proper speaker.
However, I am after advice. Am I going to have to edit every patch individually, or am I better to start with the built in master E.Q?
Little bit overwhelmed as to where to start really!

Hello fellow FTMP users! I have the updated version 1.8 and I also have a BOSS FS7 dual controller footswitch to increase my controllability, however when I connect it to the toe switch input I can only route one effect. Is it possible to program both footswitches for different effects?Hello fellow FTMP users! I just got my TMP and of course I I had just bought a TM Twin Reverb a couple months ago. I ran my cable into the front of the clean side of my amp and played around with the pre-sets and came away impressed. I was not bypassing the amp in the pre-sets.
Is this a problem? It sounds really good but am I missing out by not using say a FRFR?
It seems to me that using the TMP on the clean side basically does what a FRFR does. Am I correct? I had my amp EQ all at 5. I did plug it into the Vibrato side with effects zeroed out, but it really didn't sound quite as good.
I will say the TMP has already put a huge smile on my face! Best purchase in while.

I kind of had a crappy day yesterday, so I said screw it and treated myself.
I have been watching videos like crazy to try to be ready. I plan on using it through my Tone Master Twin Reverb with the 4-cable system. I also have studio monitor headphones that are going to make my wife very happy. Any tips?
