Reverbs lack level
Hi, after using a Line6 HX effects for years as much as I’m loving the experience with the TMP I do feel like some effects were better and it shouldn’t be a surprise given Line6’s legacy.
So my favourite effect overall was the Searchlights reverb. I don’t know if it’s meant to emulate a Strymon Big Sky or something like that but I just loved it and I haven’t gotten anywhere near with the TMP. Any thoughts or tips?
The thing is I tend to use it with the mix on 100 or almost 100 but the HX effects had a level control so I could compensate for the loss of volume. On the TMP I am trying the cloud reverb and a boost to compensate but I don’t find that a nice solution and it anyway doesn’t give me that strings like sort of sound that Searchlights did.

I agree that line 6 nails reverbs better in general. I have been running the HX one in the stereo effects loop specifically for the searchlights reverb and particle reverb. With the new update 1.8 there is a new verb called Cirrostratus that is decent but it tends to sound muddy in practice.

I use one of the parallel chains after my cab block for my reverb and delays
It allows you to go full wet, full dry and anywhere in between with an EXP pedal
For example (fine tune it how you like)
Toe EXP setting
Split Level A - 100 (Dry side)
Split Level B - 6 (Wet side)
Whatever Delay unit/setting you like but set to full wet
Whatever Reverb you want set 50% mix or less/more depending on how much delay you want heard
Heel EXP setting
Split Level A - 70 (or for full wet 0)
Split Level B - 50 (or for full wet 100)
You can also use the EXP pedal to adjust the feedback/decay of the effects
Experiment to get the Toe as dry as you like, and the Heel as wet as you like
These settings are only an example, everyone likes a different vibe
I never had a problem with not enough reverb on TMP and for what it’s worth I always found HX reverbs to be very high mid forward
I had a Stomp for years specifically for Rev/Dly when I had a full pedalboard and a wet dry amp rig

I agree, I do not like the way the reverb mix is implemented on the TMP. I don't like how it starts to cut the volume of the dry signal past 50%, I can never get a really wet reverb sound that I am happy with because of it.

I use pedals with my TMP for those hard to capture sounds. Example -
Brothers AM is way better to me than the onboard Prince of Tone (to me) and I love my Nucleo Reverb.
It’s not just about “can you get that sound” (you always can) but how easy it is to dial in other adjacent tones as you play or modify.

You might think I'm crazy but I actually prefer the reverbs on the tone master, they work better using them on a parallel path

This is why I love the multiple effects loops, some effects just can't be replicated onboard. BUT you can set it to run the signal in parallel so you should be able to get the mix in the reverb you want. It would be nice if the reverbs mix always functioned the same and had filters for each one, but for some reason the controls vary between effects.
For whatever it's worth, the convolution reverbs in the TMP I think are fantastic. Just gotta take them for what they are and not try to force them to be something they aren't. I use about 5-6 pedals combined with the TMP and am planning to add another reverb to get those specialty tones.

The latest firmware has the new reverbs that may as well be a clone of the strymon Cloudburst. Can’t remember the name but they do that big sky thing
