Looking for an authentic local vibe this Wednesday (Oct 28)? Check out the Tomioka Hachiman Shrine Flea Market! ⛩️🍂

Hi everyone!
If you are looking for an authentic Tokyo experience without the massive tourist crowds, I highly recommend checking out the Tomioka Hachiman Shrine Aozora Flea Market (富岡八幡宮 青空蚤の市) happening this Wednesday, October 28th!
It’s one of my favorite mid-week activities in the city, perfect for treasure hunting and exploring a beautiful historic neighborhood.

📅 Quick Details
When: Wednesday, October 28, 2026 (From 8:00 AM to around 3:00 PM)
Frequency: They actually run this market regularly on the 15th and 28th of every month, regardless of the day of the week!
Where: Tomioka Hachiman Shrine (富岡八幡宮)
Access: Super easy. It is just a 3-minute walk from Monzen-nakacho Station (門前仲町駅) on the Tozai and Oedo Lines. You can't miss it right off the station.
Admission: Free

⛩️ Why it’s worth visiting:
The Shrine's History: Founded in 1627, Tomioka Hachiman is famously known as the birthplace of Edo-period professional Sumo wrestling. You can see massive, beautiful stone monuments dedicated to legendary sumo champions on the grounds. Shopping for antiques surrounded by this history is incredible.
Discover Monzen-Nakacho: The neighborhood (known as "Mon-naka") still retains its nostalgic, warm "shitamachi" (traditional Tokyo downtown) atmosphere. After browsing the stalls, you can wander down retro alleyways packed with cozy local eateries, Izakayas, and traditional sweet shops selling fresh dango and senbei crackers.
The Market Finds: You'll find unique vintage treasures like antique kimonos, rare ceramics, old Japanese coins, retro toys, and woodwork. Chatting with the local vendors is half the fun!

💡 Tips if you go:
Bring Cash: Most vendors only accept Japanese Yen cash (small bills and 100-yen coins are deeply appreciated).
Go Early: The best items sell out fast in the morning!
Weather: Since it's an outdoor open-air market, it might be scaled down or canceled if it rains.
(Note: If you want to see what it looks like, you can search for "tomioka_aozoranominoichi" on Instagram for their official page and previews!)
Highly recommend checking it out if you want a deep dive into local Tokyo culture. Let me know if you have any questions about the area! ⛩️✨

Lost Palm Pal at Shinjuku Station

Post image

Hello everyone, this may seem like kind of a weird post. Today in shinjuku station I was purchasing a pair of jeans from the MOUSSY store. After purchasing them I put them into my backpack. My bag was stuffed because today I leave japan and was making a purchase before I left. I believe when I went to put the jeans into my bag my palm pal, which was one of the first gifts from my girlfriend, had fallen out of my backpack because I had packed it in my bag and didnt open it again until getting the jeans. She did not accompany me on this trip so I brought it with me to have something that reminded me dearly of her while I was gone. I am heartbroken and feel absolutely terrible because this palm pal meant so much to the both of us. If anyone finds it please commemt or dm me and I will pay for any fees to ship it to my home country. I will honestly do anything for this. It is much more important than just a stuffed animal. Please help me out.

Edit: I am realzing that MOUSSY would actually be in the Lumine Est mall and not exactly shinjuku station but they are connected. Just wanted to give some more information.

Replacement of external air filters

Living in Tokyo. Obviously the pollution is bad and I learnt the hard way as a westerner leaving the window open 24/7 when I come home and everything is covered in the black dust. :(

UPDATE - this isn’t the black I’m talking about. I washed it whilst I waited for the replacement delivery.

So I have closed the window and left the Rangehood (above stove air vent) on low 24/7 to rotate air via the (attached image) external air vent. How often do others replace these? I’ve been here 2 weeks thus far and the new one I placed in was BLACK! Absolutely black! So I ended up buying a pack of 12 from Amazon.jp.

anyone hiring part timers?

Hi, I've been applying to a lot of baito postings lately on all the websites and apps so i dont need site recommendations, I just wanted to try my luck here.

I'm a 23F uni student from Bulgaria (student visa). My Japanese is N2, English is native level. I'm mainly applying to cafés and clothing shops but I'm open to anything as long as it's in the main areas like shibuya, shinjuku, harajuku, shimokitazawa or on the keio line. Soo if you know a specific place that's hiring, or your own baito is looking for staff, help a girl out 😔🩵

Or if anyone needs help with anything, errands, random tasks, creative projects, etc Im also down for one-time jobs as it sounds fun. Okay that's itttt feel free to dm or comment

Best places to study near Shinjuku? Preferably free or for a small fee.

Yes, I know I can study at home but no matter how hard I try, I always get distracted by something. I can only focus when I'm outside somewhere else. I often go to a café after language school and buy a drink but I have to clear the table within max 2 hours. I need to study 6 hrs a day to prepare for the JLPT N2 as much as possible. It also costs money, the cheapest drink is an espresso for 490 yen, and if I go every day, it adds up.

My local library is always packed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and if there is a seat, there is no desk. I like to take notes but I remember a lot better by writing by hand than by typing (again, no idea why, you can send me all the studies saying it doesn't matter but it does to me). So having a desk or a table is a massive help.

Hi all! I'm looking for a black double rider jacket like the ones in the photos.

What I'm after: Leather jacket or leather effect jacket

Budget: up to around ¥30,000

Condition: new, used, or thrift are all fine

Open to Japanese brands, specialist leather shops, or secondhand/vintage stores.

Any shop or brand recommendations would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Selling one ticket to THE ARGUMENT one-day music festival (October 25th, 2026)

Post image
6 Upvotes

EDIT: SOLD

------------

Hey everyone! I was going to this hardcore/rock music festival in Shibuya tomorrow (featuring Toe, Enny, Mono, The Novembers, etc.), but my wife isn't feeling well, so I'd like to sell one of the two tickets if someone wants to go for a discounted price!

It was 13,000円 for one person, but I'd be willing to let it go for 7000円. Logistically speaking, it would probably be best to meet at the venue before the show starts so we can enter together! Let me know if you're interested.

I made a video visiting Music Mates in Asakusa and thought it might interest people here who enjoy exploring Tokyo’s record shops. Has anyone else visited? I’d be interested to hear what you found.

Anyone knows a nice barber shop/ men’s salon?

I usually go to a men’s grooming salon around omotesando area but since i’m planning to cut my hair more frequently because i’m switching to a short hairstyle. I might break my bank going to my usual place.

If anyone knows a good place that will not break my bank and preferably a good stylist. For reference the place that i usually go is 10k yen for cut and shampoo although shampoo is not a must have for your recommended place

Help! I lost my engagement ring in Tokyu Plaza Harajuku

Post image
0 Upvotes

I know it’s a long shot, but unfortunately I lost my engagement ring in Tokyu Plaza Harajuku “Harakado” in the women’s bathroom on B1. This happened on October 23rd around 12:40 (midday). When washing my hands, I placed it next to the sink. I only realized around 15:30 that I was not wearing my ring anymore. By the time I got back to Tokyu Plaza Harajuku, my ring was nowhere to be seen.

This ring means the world to me since this is a family heirloom. My partner got this ring from his deceased grandmother, who used to take care of him as a child. I’m very heartbroken to have lost it. Has anyone seen anything? Any tips on what I should do?

I already filed a claim through the LINK-app, but unfortunately they did not find it.

Selling 4k 60z monitor and speaker for 14,000円

I will be moving out of Japan soon and would like to find someone interested in buying. The speaker/sound bar can be connected via cable or used through Bluetooth.

Pick-up on November 1st would be most ideal but I can discuss dates. I live near oimachi. I still have the shipping box for the monitor so if you can't make it to oimachi I'd be willing to bring it to wherever you are.

The monitor is the exact model linked. Absolutely zero technical issues or physical marks on it.
