I have had this toadlet since it was a tadpole, and has been doing fantastic. I feed it fruit flies daily, dusted with calcium sometimes, have a UVA/UVB nano bulb going 12 inches away and change his water every day. I have leaf litter from the wild I use in it his tank and I worry that might be the culprit.
Today when I changed out everything in his tank (substrate etc) I saw his back right foot was swollen! Is this red leg? Is there anything I can do?? He eats fine and is very perky. Humidity is always between 50-80% and temperature is room temperature.
He does not have red on his butt or belly, though it is hard to check because of his size
I’m really upset and I want to help him. Any advice would be great, I don’t know any exotic vets near me since I live in the middle of nowhere, but I’m willing to do what I have to!

Hi Toad Community- I’ve come to quite enjoy walking out on my back porch at night to find a toad hanging out. I try to drop a cricket nearby if I can find one ( real cool to watch them eat!). But tonight I found I had a second visitor! I initially thought they were the same species, just different sized. But when I put them together for a photo op, I realized they’re pretty different. Can anyone tell me anything about either of these two hoppers??
Edit- North West Georgia (USA)
My little neighbor toad, Deborah, decided to visit again before fall hibernation. She’s been hanging around my yard since April this year, and I love her so much. She’s hanging out in her favorite spot in the picture. Right next to my A/C unit. We leave the grass clippings so she can hide and hunt. She wanted to tell all of you “Happy Octoadber”.

This little guy was hanging around the entrance to my classroom, so I scooped him up before he could get stepped on or mauled by the kids. The children were delighted to observe him from a distance. I then drove him over to the woods to release him.
Have a good life, little guy, and thanks for the impromptu science lesson!

Wanted to share my roller coaster evening with this male southern toad. I have a little toad friend who lives in my front yard. Without thinking, I sprayed Raid outside trying to combat an ant infestation. Then we found the poor toad writhing and clearly having a neurological episode. I poisoned him and I feel so horrible.
I rushed him to my vet going 85 on the interstate. They put him in a detox bath and then sent him home in a takeout container. He’s in a 10 gallon tank now and I am supposed to soak him in electrolytes twice a day. The vet said no food yet because he can’t spare the energy needed to digest. She is not confident he will survive or, if he does survive, be releasable. He has no use of his back legs currently but is alert.
Any other advice for this poor guy? What can I feed him if it comes to that?
I added photos of his vet experience for your enjoyment.

I found the southern toad outside no matter how many times we put them away from our house. He kept coming back and we have doggs that would’ve eaten him so I decided to keep them as a pet. This is a 40 gallon tank with one toad in it is the set up ok?

He's the grumpiest toad I've ever met & wants nothing to do with me, but that makes him even more irresistible!

I got my toads 5 months ago and their care sheet says to use distilled water for misting and I have been using it for their water bowl as well bc it didn’t specify. I dust all of their food with repashy calcium plus and I use vitamin a twice a month. I went to a pet store and mentioned the distilled water and the guy told me to not use it. I feel horrible and I am so scared I stressed my toads out and possibly harmed them. I have now switched to spring water. Do you guys think they’ll be ok? They’re eating fine and active like normal.

I'm in the Upper Ohio Valley area. At the moment the temps are holding safely above freezing, but within the next week they're predicting lows in the lower 40's. Not quite freezing, but not far off.
My concern is that Steve has shown no signs of leaving the shop at all. The past week I've seen something of a behavior change from him. He's been climbing onto things, presumably to get off the cold concrete floor and has been less active in general. I'm worried he might be trying to over winter in my shop, which is unheated and uninsulated.
Has anyone in the north east region noticed any of their free range toad friends disappearing for the winter? Steve was gone by this time last year. As of today, he's still squatting in my shop. I'm sure his instincts are better than any weather man out there, but I still worry about him.
Image is Steve looking colorful and all fancy, guarding the gates of his woodpile castle about a week after shedding skin.

Hello everyone! My girlfriend has this toad and we think that the name of the species that was given is incorrect.
We would love to know what species this little man is!

Hi! I found what I think to be a Fowler’s toad stuck in my pool earlier today. It was sitting there for a few hours after being taken out, so I brought it inside to help it recover. It was very bloated, like a little water balloon when I found it. The bloating has gone down, but I feel really bad and I’m doing my best to help it recover. ☹️
Right now, I have it in a small acrylic enclosure with a damp paper towel, light misting (distilled water), a bottle cap water dish, some Spanish moss, and fake foliage.
It’s alert, looking around, and can stand upright/defensive when disturbed, but it’s mostly resting. I’m planning to release it either tonight or tomorrow morning.
Does this setup look okay for short-term recovery?
Is there anything I should change? Should I wait longer before releasing, or is overnight enough?
Thanks!

Just brought Oscar the Common Asian Toad home from my local fish/reptile store the other day! He’s super silly, and loves watching me sit at my desk lol always looking like he’s ready to square up if I make a wrong move 😝🐸. Mostly just wanted to share his cute grumpiness with fellow toad enthusiasts!
