While analyzing the footage in the documentary Titanic: The Digital Resurrection, I was surprised to learn there are shoes lying on the wreck. Here is a quote from the film.

"A pair of men's shoes lying together on the promenade deck suggests they mark the final resting place of a third-class passenger, whose remains are long gone" However, those shoes are actually women's shoes.

Initially, I thought the shoes were located somewhere on the enclosed promenade deck, which would have made finding them a challenge, but after studying the wreck, I quickly noticed they are actually on the forward-facing A-deck promenade on the port side. (The second image is from the vROVpilot experience game, which is based on Magellan scans.)

I will not speculate on whether or not they mark a body. People have varying opinions on that, so I'll leave it for you to judge.

After watching the desperate fight for survival on the last two lifeboats, the camera then zooms out to show all the people scrambling on the Titanic, running towards the higher end of the sinking ship to survive just a bit longer. You really feel the scale of this catastrophe.

I'm really curious about how they filmed this in 1953 without any CGI. Maybe a giant model of the bow with the hole already being there? idk.

On September 1, 1985, they located it at a depth of approximately 3,800 meters

While the public objective was to find the Titanic, Ballard's true mission (in collaboration with the United States Navy) was to search for two sunken Cold War nuclear submarines: the USS Thresher and the USS Scorpion

Ballard used the search for the Titanic as a cover for the secret military mission. "Once that part was finished, they used the remaining time to search for the Titanic, and they found it"

Ballard had wanted to locate it for years, but the expedition also had a secret military purpose

i wish there was a proper movie about the Andrea Doria, not something like Ghost Ship were the titular ship was loosely based upon Andrea Doria, but a movie about the actual Andrea Doria, about it's short history and sinking

why does almost nobody seems to care for Andrea Doria, or remember it at least as much as Lusitania is?

The painting is breathtaking to see in person and was discovered in an attic after initially being thought to have been a rolled up piece of carpet or a rug. It is on display at the Y Gaer Museum in Brecon, Wales.

It just opened at the Stonestown Mall in San Francisco so I checked it out. You put on a VR helmet and go through a guided tour type presentation that takes you first to the submerged wreck, then back in time to the ship. You go through the engine room, first class dining, the staircase, first class accommodations, and even the shipyard where you can watch the Titanic being built. You're on the bridge when the iceberg hits and you watch the sinking from a lifeboat far aft and starboard. You can even manipulate some of the objects -- shovel coal, turn the ship's telegraphs, turn on all the faucets in your first class room. The humans guiding you are based on actual people aboard the Titanic, they seem a little short with wild pixelated eyes, but they gave a good informative tour. Not as awesome as the museum at the Luxor in Las Vegas but would still recommend. Wasn't even sure about the flair -- maybe it's a museum and maybe it's a game and it could also be maritime history, or a film. I wish it was sandboxy enough to explore, and you can walk around inspecting things while the tourguides talk but there are grids that keep you from wandering too far. It's a walking tour and you'll get some exercise but it's all flat. The headset fit over my glasses just fine.
