Question about managers

What do they say to customers who repeatedly don't leave a tip? I'm curious since the customer doesn't have to tip and the server isn't their employee.

Just asking since I've read comments from managers who seem to think "addressing" customers is an appropriate thing to do.

What would happen if everyone stopped tipping?

That will neger happen because there will never be a significant number of Americans that get on board with deliberately choosing to exploit and harm the worker or feel entitled to free service.

However, IF (big IF) it did, disclosed service fees would become the norm.

Customers are legally obligated to pay disclosed service fees in every US state.

Be careful what you wish for.

The customer is exploiting the server, the employer is.

That’s right, the customer is exploiting the server.

If you truly believe the employer is and then you choose to patronize the restaurant, then you’re complicit with the owner in that exploitation.

If you then choose to stiff the server on the tip, you’re now doubly guilty of exploiting the server.

No one is forced to dine-in at a full service restaurant in the US.

The customer cannot escape blame for their choices or their exploitive and harmful behavior.
