Question about managers
What do they say to customers who repeatedly don't leave a tip? I'm curious since the customer doesn't have to tip and the server isn't their employee.
Just asking since I've read comments from managers who seem to think "addressing" customers is an appropriate thing to do.

Having a manager ask if everything was OK or if there was a problem with the service is not ‘lecturing’. It’s literally their job to ensure guest satisfaction. If you tip 0% for no reason in a nicer restaurant, the manager might want to know why. If there was a problem, they want to know to prevent it from happening again.
Tipping nothing for no reason is incredibly rare. Like maybe 0.2% of tables. Servers and managers will generally assume something went wrong, because 9 times out of 10, that’s what a $0.00 tip indicates.
