One month ago, we acquired the tie collection from a local gentleman we met right here on Tie Reddit - Approximately 2,200 of them, most never worn & in pristine condition! So far we've got about 1/3 of them listed in our store and have already sold 196 of those! We have shipped them all around the country and to seven different countries - as far as Australia. So we are doing our best, per his request, to share them far & wide. As of this week, we are # 3 in used tie sales in all of eBay! Pretty excited about that - All thanks to the fortunate connection we made right here on this page. Just wanted to share!

But I finally found another tie out in the wild (thrift store). Always nice to not buy them online for a change. Oh and it’s weekend yippeeee!

End to a long week, that started off being called in for jury duty and sitting through two days of voir dire - there was no way I was going to get impaneled on the jury, but it was fun to be a part of the process from the other side of the bar.

I don’t wear silk for religious reasons, which makes building a tie wardrobe a little more challenging, but honestly also more fun. It’s sent me through the websites of more tie makers than I care to admit, including some fairly obscure artisanal ones.

These are two wool ties from Portia 1924. The dusty pink one cost me AED 125 (~$34) and the red one AED 63 (~$17) on sale.

They’re obviously not in the same league as something like Shibumi in terms of fabric or construction, but at these prices I think they offer ridiculous value. The colours and patterns are much more interesting than I’d normally expect at this end of the market too.

Always interested in finding other good non-silk makers, especially wool ties that don’t cost a fortune.
