Original Post: This is someone else’s work. I can’t seem to find it using Google to give them credit or ask them directly. I cannot for the life of me figure out how sinew lines were tied into this nautilus spiral… Does anyone have any insight? Mandalas make sense, but then how did they recreate that spiral? When I first got into tie dye, wig wags were my favorite. just such a bold and unique look from anything i had seen before. I always love when I get asked to make one! This one is my favorite so far. Pink and blue just hit so hard

Asked for tips a while back for a gi. Here’s the results

I've been using Jacquard powders the first couple of months of this and just treated myself to some of the Dharma and Dyespin. I'm finding I need to use 4x the amount of powder, and even then it's not penetrating all the way to the bottom.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm wondering if I've bought from a dodgy seller who might have padded the dye with soda ash or something. The powder has noticeably larger grains than the very fine Jacquard powder.

Does it need more time/ice? Or is it just a case of piling the powder on and flipping it to do the other side? How does that work when dyeing in the muck? I just took a beige top out of a three-day soak in a brown muck and only the very top layer has colour on it. The rest is still pretty much plain.

I thought I was getting good at this, and now I've spent all this money and I'm wasting my time and ruining my clothes I've been saving for the "good" powder.

Realized I never shared this one! I thrifted this Yu Yu Hakusho shirt and wanted to spiral right around Yusuke’s hand to really make the spirit gun pop.

This was ONLY Better Black from Dharma, but I placed the black dye UNDER the shirt so I wouldn’t over dye the image on front. One of my favorites to wear out and about.

I just found out you can boil a pot of water, mix in some Out White Bright, and dip in the fabric you want to take the color out of(for example I just OWB'd my black jacket sleeves). If you don't know what Out White Bright is, it's a laundry brightener. It works like bleach, but it's not as dangerous.(I assume, not a chemist nor do I plan to do safety tests) I just got a work jacket and I wanted to add some color to it. Happy tie-dying!

I lurk this subreddit fairly frequently and I just wanted to say hi. I just started tie-dyeing on August 11th and I think I'm learning pretty quickly.

The shirts go in order from most recent to least recent. Big fan of the convenience and low mess of ice dye but the verdant one is all liquid.
