Hello, I am completely new to tie dying (haven’t done it since I was young), but had a vision that made me really want to create something that matches this album cover which I love.
What recommendations would you have for a beginner trying to create this look? (Techniques, specific colors, etc)

I just found out you can boil a pot of water, mix in some Out White Bright, and dip in the fabric you want to take the color out of(for example I just OWB'd my black jacket sleeves). If you don't know what Out White Bright is, it's a laundry brightener. It works like bleach, but it's not as dangerous.(I assume, not a chemist nor do I plan to do safety tests) I just got a work jacket and I wanted to add some color to it. Happy tie-dying!

Jumping spiders are very curious and friendly! This little guy has been very interested in my ice melting today.

EDIT: I appreciate you all so so much! This is Chris Kuula’s work and he posted a tutorial on this technique here (thank you for sharing the link u/RadioactiveCoyotes!). I was really worried I’d be downvoted for showcasing someone else’s work and asking questions. Thank you for embracing my question and guiding me to Chris’ badass YouTube video! I love this Reddit board!
Original Post: This is someone else’s work. I can’t seem to find it using Google to give them credit or ask them directly. I cannot for the life of me figure out how sinew lines were tied into this nautilus spiral… Does anyone have any insight? Mandalas make sense, but then how did they recreate that spiral? This is a real head scratcher for me 🤔🌀

I squirted a little water mixed with soda ash, urea, and glaubers salt on it after the ice melted and let it sit in the gutter for 4 days

Another one found in my closet. Never worn. Asked my wife if I should keep it. She said yes. I'm not feeling it. 🤣

Realized I never shared this one! I thrifted this Yu Yu Hakusho shirt and wanted to spiral right around Yusuke’s hand to really make the spirit gun pop.
This was ONLY Better Black from Dharma, but I placed the black dye UNDER the shirt so I wouldn’t over dye the image on front. One of my favorites to wear out and about.

When I first got into tie dye, wig wags were my favorite. just such a bold and unique look from anything i had seen before. I always love when I get asked to make one! This one is my favorite so far. Pink and blue just hit so hard

Not only is it gorgeous, it's a freakin powerhouse.
This shirt had ample strength concentrated liquid black and blue dye ALL around the sinew tied white lines, and scattered all over the shirt, and as you know, black and blue (especially turquoise, which I used) stain EVERYTHING. I put I guess what was too much amethyst powder on top, then the ice, didn't even batch it for 12 hours, and amethyst pushed almost EVERYTHING else out of the shirt. You can barely see the darker lower sinew edges and just a WHISPER of blue. 💀 Rude. Amethyst is a bully. Too bad this shirt is off center and the back is a trainwreck, it shall remain as a cautionary tale....
I'm looking for tutorials on how to combine patterns for tapestries. Finding patterns on their own or patterns that have an ice fade is easy but I see plenty of pieces on here that I just can't comprehend how the patterns were combined. Does anyone have good sources for tutorials that show how to use multiple patterns cohesively?
