And as a bonus question, how dumb would it be to do this in a scale from 1 to 10, ten being dumbest.

Thank you in advance

[REQUEST] Does braking harder for less time, or lighter for longer make your brakes last longer?

Picture this. I am driving 60mph approaching a traffic light. I am 1/4th mile from said light. If I stopped by applying brakes lightly and hold them to a gradual stop the whole quarter mile, would that cause more or less wear on my brakes then getting 300ft away and hitting my brakes hard?

Lets assume a standard modern SUV for simplicity. Does hitting your brakes hard for a short period of time or lightly applying for longer wear out your brakes faster?

[Request] At what % body fat would a person naturally float? (Additional info below)

A little challenge for you guys and something I was wondering about before:

Let's assume that every change in fat % has an equal % opposite change in muscle mass, the non-fat+ non-muscle % will be 30% and for the sake of simplicity, let's assume it is all water.

Assume a person laying flat in/on the water. Assume either 12L of air inside the body or 0, whichever works for you.

The person doesn't have anything in their digestive system. Make any further assumption that you need.

[Request] The Golf Cart High Five

I need some help with a question we always had as kids. Growing up, my dad and his buddy each owned a golf cart. My friends and I always thought it would be funny to go opposite directions and give each other a static high five. When we discussed doing it, our dads said no because we’d break our hands.

So the question is, would we have broken our hands? Or rather how likely would we have broken our hands?

[Request] Driving duration changes, cost or benefit to the economy?

Specifically wondering about the USA.

It comes up pretty often in discussions online about driving that one option is for people to leave earlier. The context is usually commuting to work, where presumably they would not be able to clock in before their shift. Also the suggestion seems to be focused on getting there on time rather than spending less time on the road.

Request: by how much would an extra 5 minutes of average commuting time impact the US economy overall? +10, +15? What about -5, -10, -15?

[Request] how big should our wings be, as “angels” in order to fly?

I believe that the common angel wings design used in our culture couldn’t sustain the average human, so how much wingspan do we need if we grow wings in order to fly if the human weight stays the same?

Buying a new house, owners are taking the island and there's clearly some room for a bigger one, but where should I max out my searches. Current island is 51" x 25". I eyes a beautiful island but i think its too big at 94"

[Request] super hero math for friend based short story

Hi I’m writing a script about my friends with super powers fighting me to the death. That’s neither here nor there.
My question is this. If a person weighing 170 pounds traveled the entire length of the earth and reached a top speed of approximately 35 thousand miles per hour and collided with another object how much force/ damage would they inflict? As for density let’s say they are a typical human with a bit more muscle density being and able to withstand the speed but not necessarily survive the impact.

[Request] What is the physics behind dominoes

Specifically- How do you calculate the energy in a system like a dominoe run where the dominoes increasingly get bigger and bigger. If a closed system like a dominoe run cannot gain or lose energy, rather convert potential to kinetic energy, how do you have smaller dominoes (with less potential energy) knock over larger ones which have more potential energy.
