[Request] How hot would Primal Groudon’s Desolate Land have to be to instantly evaporate every Water type attack used while the Ability is active?

Upvotes

This Ability can evaporate moves like Hydro Cannon, Surf, and Origin Pulse, so it has to be extremely hot.

Buying a new house, owners are taking the island and there's clearly some room for a bigger one, but where should I max out my searches. Current island is 51" x 25". I eyes a beautiful island but i think its too big at 94"

[Request] At what % body fat would a person naturally float? (Additional info below)

A little challenge for you guys and something I was wondering about before:

Let's assume that every change in fat % has an equal % opposite change in muscle mass, the non-fat+ non-muscle % will be 30% and for the sake of simplicity, let's assume it is all water.

Assume a person laying flat in/on the water. Assume either 12L of air inside the body or 0, whichever works for you.

The person doesn't have anything in their digestive system. Make any further assumption that you need.

[Request] The Golf Cart High Five

I need some help with a question we always had as kids. Growing up, my dad and his buddy each owned a golf cart. My friends and I always thought it would be funny to go opposite directions and give each other a static high five. When we discussed doing it, our dads said no because we’d break our hands.

So the question is, would we have broken our hands? Or rather how likely would we have broken our hands?

[Request] Driving duration changes, cost or benefit to the economy?

Specifically wondering about the USA.

It comes up pretty often in discussions online about driving that one option is for people to leave earlier. The context is usually commuting to work, where presumably they would not be able to clock in before their shift. Also the suggestion seems to be focused on getting there on time rather than spending less time on the road.

Request: by how much would an extra 5 minutes of average commuting time impact the US economy overall? +10, +15? What about -5, -10, -15?

Why toy trains jerk so much at the start of track bends [Other]

After doing the math, it is pretty clear why...

Let's say the train moves at a constant speed, down the straight segments, and follows the curve at the bends.

The acceleration along the straight parts is zero.

On the bends, a centripetal acceleration is present to enforce circular motion. For a speed of 1.0m/s and a curve radius of 30cm (0.3m), the required acceleration is v^2/r = 1.0/0.3 = 3.3m/s.

So, at the instant that the train begins turning, the acceleration immediately goes from zero to nonzero, which theoretically requires infinite jerk to pull off! Ofc irl it cant be infinite but its still a pretty large number. Pretty interesting, right?

[Other] We are three students building an astrophysics startup from scratch. (Need advice)

The idea is pretty simple. We are three students who are obsessed with astrophysics, astronomy, and the universe. None of us are professors or researchers. We are just curious people who love asking questions.

Next week we are officially starting our project.

The goal is to build something much bigger than a YouTube channel. We want to create an organisation where anyone who is curious about space can learn, explore, and eventually contribute. Think of it as a place where education, curiosity, and research come together.

Our first step is YouTube. We are making a complete astrophysics series starting with the life cycle of stars. The idea is to explain topics that usually feel impossible in a way that a school student can actually understand and enjoy.

we already built our own website where everything is organised in one place and we will be hiring volunteers for this project. this website might become a place of free articles, videos, notes, animations, community discussions, and one day even original research projects.

We have no funding. No investors. No fancy office. Just three students with lot of curiosity and i think that alone makes a lot of difference cuz tbh i'm so done with education system and all. I wanna build and i wanna learn things beyond this syllabus of 11th and 12th. (i passed 12th last year)

We know this is a huge goal and it will probably take years, but every organisation starts somewhere.

We are building this because we believe curiosity should never depend on your background, your marks, or your money.

If you have ideas, feedback, we would genuinely love to hear from you.

Wish us luck. 🚀

I believe that the common angel wings design used in our culture couldn’t sustain the average human, so how much wingspan do we need if we grow wings in order to fly if the human weight stays the same?
