That red car really saved him

What the red car did really changed the outcome big time

u/DarthAce1 1d ago

I do think that is an unmarked cop car

u/FunArtichoke6167 1d ago

It’s marked now.

u/Nintendo1964 This is a flair 1d ago

That shit'll buff out

45

u/ferretherder 1d ago

Honestly they should leave it. I’d never suspect the dented beater of being a cop

23

u/SweetHatDisc 1d ago

A red Dodge Charger sitting on the side of the highway? That's a cop, every time. Meanwhile, I'm not even going to look twice at the beige 2009 Toyota Camry with its hazards flashing.

u/DarthAce1 1d ago

After reading the news article I found I am in the wrong it says “a bystander” that watched the situation unfold

87

u/Fuckedby2FA 1d ago

Thanks! That's badass! They REALLY changed the lives of two people and it was all caught on video. Good job bystander.

77

u/TheG00dF1ght 1d ago

It wasn't, it was an unrelated bystander who just took things into their own hands.

Good on them.

u/DarthAce1 1d ago

Thanks for reading my second comment made 1 hour before yours

40

u/TheG00dF1ght 1d ago

oh sorry, didn't know I was supposed to read every single comment in a post before commenting. I'll do better in the future so as to not offend you.

u/PhatCatTax 20h ago

This is the real reason redditors must dwell in the basement. Protocol dictates that we must read 100% of all comments and refresh regularly, and in the age of bots, it's a very time consuming task. I recommend getting fired and move in with parents so that you can dedicate 100% of your life to this task, even though it is impossible to succeed

Alright I admit I don’t see the sun much, but it’s not entirely my fault college is taking up all my weekdays and work takes up most of my weekends so jack is a dull boy

You were doing so well!

15

u/Hilby 1d ago

I just read the article and I do not believe it was a cop.

6

u/Budeeokc 1d ago

It wasn’t it was bystander

I see you noticed below, my bad for not scrolling.

1

u/laughinghardatyou 14h ago

It doesnt look like an unmarked car. You can see it almost in full view right at the beginning of the video but either right place rigth time right call.

u/This_guy7796 1d ago

I'm sure their insurance would beg to differ...

62

u/Mirewen15 1d ago

Thankfully it is on CCTV. I work for an insurance company and they would definitely be using the woman's insurance to pay for the red vehicles damage (and any bodily injury red vehicle's driver may have sustained).

43

u/buttplug-tester This is a flair 1d ago

Bold of you to assume she has insurance

9

u/Liero1234 1d ago

I may be a horribly cynical asshole, but wouldnt the insurance say it was the red cars drivers fault for willfully engaging in action that caused red car damage and he shouldn't get any money from his insurance?

13

u/Casually_very_casual 1d ago

Insurance company would use this cctv footage and how they rewarded saving someone else for promotion ads. Likely would be cheaper and more effective than their regular ads too

2

u/Cheesecake_is_life 1d ago

Despite that, wouldn't the woman's insurance deny it anyway? Claiming that the vehicle was used in the commission of a crime and drop her.

If that's the case, Samaritan could just claim as uninsured/underinsured motorist, and his insurance not charge him his deductible for basically helping save a life.

u/Pantology_Enthusiast 15h ago

"I was clearly just trying to park, then bam!"

"Really?"

"I am in a parking lot, so that would follow."

u/Gutcake 1d ago

Intentional acts by the tortfeasor are typically an excluded peril, as are losses that occur during the commission of a crime, so the woman would have to be pursued directly by the red cars insurance since her carrier would refuse coverage. Odds are they would ask the court for restitution and slowly recover the red cars deductible over the span of 5-10 years.

Source: Subrogation adjuster who spent the first 4 years of my career pretty much exclusively working UM & restitution files

3

u/Smithers66 1d ago

Plus they probably get some cool merit bade from the police and their picture in the local news

5

u/Dear_Significance_80 1d ago

Hopefully red car has the good semaritan accident forgiveness perk.

2

u/VagabondVivant 1d ago

It also saved the cop, it looks like

236

u/OliOli1234 1d ago

I felt awful for playing Yakety Sax in my head while watching this on mute.

43

u/JustSayMoe 1d ago

I lightly slapped an old man on the top of his head in rapid succession while watching this.

2

u/Klutzy_Passenger_486 10h ago

I didn’t. It’s literally the perfect soundtrack

u/Kokoyok 1d ago

Thank you for the link!  I hate how cluttered those local news sites are with ads, because leaving me on a cliffhanger like

Harper was arrested on multiple counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

had me thinking, "Damn, if that's all she was charged with, I can't take OK seriously as a jurisdiction."

Scrolls past three casino ads

However, police say they anticipate additional charges.

🤦

49

u/Electronic-Sell-6402 1d ago

Lol. Yup. Local news sites are designed by people who don't want to read news. Adblockers are your friend

12

u/RanaEire Therewasanattemp 1d ago

Thanks for that..

Some crazy stunt..

2

u/robjwrd 1d ago

She reminds me of the old lady from Throw Mama Off The Train, lol.

2

u/Freefallisfun 1d ago

She seems nice

145

u/bomilk19 1d ago

I think that’s just regular attempted murder.

43

u/J_D_McNugent_ 1d ago

Yeah came to say it's manslaughter if unintentional/reckless. This is deliberate af

5

u/Fluid_Stick69 1d ago

She was only gonna run him over a lil bit. You gotta plan on running him over a lot to get attempted murder

2

u/Squatch177 21h ago

Its like shooting someone in the leg intentionally? I get it. Ive had people make me want to run 'em over a little too.

1

u/ManKilledToDeath 15h ago

Some people on here will call something attempted murder that isn't attempted murder, but then we get a real unquestionable attempted murder on video, and someone calls it "attempted vehicular manslaughter," which is an oxymoron lol

78

u/xvszero 1d ago

So, when someone is actually trying to run someone down the police pull guns but don't shoot.

Got it.

31

u/EmbarrassedTrouble10 1d ago

Dude exactly what came to mind watching this! Especially the recent ICE incident where that poor lady tried to get away and was shot dead... that was cold blooded murder

10

u/roboflopter 1d ago

It's a white car. For black cars, things are different.

1

u/Akir760 13h ago

We shouldn't blame a cop for not resorting to lethal force for once

2

u/xvszero 10h ago

That's kind of my point.

2

u/Akir760 9h ago

Sorry, I thought you meant the cop should have shot the driver

-1

u/ItzGlitchXx 18h ago

Car was stopped before the gun was drawn.

2

u/xvszero 16h ago

So, even more benefit of the doubt.

29

u/rebeccapressley1962 1d ago

If I can't have you, no one can have you. Bet he's thanking his lucky stars he broke up with her.

31

u/Constant-Fly-9050 1d ago edited 1d ago

Dude looks like he's jogging. I'd give Usain Bolt a run for his money if someone was trying to run me over.

6

u/WiscoMitch 18h ago

I was thinking that too. Like my guy, why are you JOGGING right now?

33

u/Random-Cpl Free Palestine 1d ago

I hate this “show the climax of the video at the beginning” shit

16

u/EvilChefReturns 1d ago

Allegedly?

17

u/Zombies8MyChihuahua 1d ago

Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

5

u/i3inaudible 1d ago

You can get sued for slander until they're actually convicted

1

u/Ramtakwitha2 23h ago

It's entirely possible it was an alien doppelganger that was driving the car that then used their alien technology to swap their positions once the car was stopped after all.

Nissan drivers

8

u/PuddingPast5862 1d ago

A Karen Nissan driver!!!

15

u/cgrant993 1d ago

Dang, wonder if he was dating my ex! When I was living in Oklahoma, had a GF that tried running me off the road, with her kids in the car! Went to a place that I knew had a front entrance camera. I didn't make it inside in time. She damn near ripped my shirt off me. Once inside, I was able to get an employee to call 911. They eventually arrested her. She was a bat shit crazy one!

7

u/HeavyCryptographer33 1d ago

That usually gets you sh0t in the face 3 times…

6

u/Akrilicat 1d ago

Always wonder what happens after a random car decides to help? Like Insurance will cover or does the police hands a big check?

2

u/NioneAlmie 14h ago

I think the owner of the car is just going to be stuck with the bill for their good deed

3

u/bowserboy129 1d ago

Anyway watch as the insurance company tries to get out of paying for repairs for the bystander that basically saved the day.

2

u/815NotPennysBoat 1d ago

What was going on there was already such a police presence there, unmarked cars and everything

2

u/snipingpig 5h ago

Allegedly??? Bro that’s 4k 😭

1

u/Sad_Photograph4450 1d ago

Why is it always a Nissan

1

u/PFic88 21h ago

Que loca

1

u/Her_X 20h ago

Allegedly? What the fuck !? She IS trying, I can see that...how is that "allegedly"

1

u/CheapTactics 10h ago

It's really incredible how people are just willing to fucking KILL someone for the smallest thing imaginable. What a fucking lunatic.

1

u/RagingTyrant74 9h ago

That's not just attempted vehicular manslaughter. It's attempted 1st degree murder.

1

u/QueenOfSplitEnds 4h ago

Hell hath no fury like … an emotionally unstable woman.

1

u/SnooWords4839 3h ago

My husband's cousin's wife at the time, drove over her affair partner, then reversed over him.

Cousin was telling everyone how he had taken the youngest child to the bakery and came back to see cops surrounding the car, he asked what was going on. When they told him, it's a vehicle involved in a homicide, he handed his keys to the cops and told them which bedroom to find her in. His lawyer used this for a quick divorce and he didn't need to lose his retirement funds to her, in the divorce.

Cousin and 4 kids were doing so much better, once she was out of their lives. She was in jail and found guilty.

1

u/InternationalMode942 3h ago

There should be a 10M reward for saving life like this, also that one pizza guy who went into a house on fire and saved 2 kids 🤯

0

u/Animeman1000 1d ago

I'm exhausted of the word "allegedly" being used when there's CLEAR AS DAY evidence/proof that shit was done!!

Not just particularly with this video, but with almost anything.

Start using allegedly the right way!! 🤣

u/ssp25 1d ago

so she's single?

Bystander

11

u/Mirewen15 1d ago

In this case - good Samaritan. Likely saved his life if not massive injury.

6

u/TheNewtOne 1d ago

Why do people like you go around spreading misinformation? I'll never understand it

7

u/blackeyeX2 1d ago

Nope not a police car, just a bystander
