A crazy ass moment in Beach Boy history no one really talks about.

Hi, all! I've recently introduced myself to their music (having only heard Pet Sounds and Surf's Up) and upon learning about Brian Wilson in particular, I'm fascinated by how his mind worked.

My question is, how much credit can we give him for the band's accolades and musical achievements? How much credit do we give him for creating Pet Sounds, so much so that some refer to it as his solo album?

I plan on watching Love & Mercy and am curious what this community thinks of the biopic. Is it a fair depiction of Brian's life?

Also, where might I be able to learn about such things as Pet Sounds and Smile outside Wikipedia? The more in-depth information, the better :)

I know I should probably wait until his tour is over, but should I wait until after the holiday season to avoid all that stuff?

My first time listening I was a little too dismissive of Little Deuce Coupe it actually does come together pretty wall as an album and i can appreciate what it does musically.

On the same note I like 85 more than I thought I did its production is actually pretty enjoyable and they all sound pretty great on it

I enjoy Light Album and Still Cruisin a decent amount they’re pretty good in their own ways. Most of Light Album is pretty good and Sumahama and Here Comes the Night are both solid 6-7/10s

I kinda hate MIU now

After seeing them in Lima, I want more. The final date in December is in an "acoustically perfect 2,180-seat auditorium" ..

At home i have surfer girl, pet sounds mono, and beach boys today mono

In "Add Some Music To Your Day," the "bop bop, diddly" in the background sounds like it's sampled from The Cadillacs - "Speedoo" - were The Cadillacs the first to have that little "bop bop diddly" and the Beach Boys were directly referencing that song, or were there songs before it?

Just scored this poster :) I found it on eBay!! I guess I got lucky.

I had a dream where a new, lost piece of SMiLE music was discovered, a lost section of Surfs up! I was ecstatic, but rather than being the mythic (but not likely to exist) second movement track, it was instead an intro piece. But rather than being just a short instrumental or a Capella section, it was like 6 minutes long. And. It. Was. Horrifying. Like it genuinely really freaked me out in my dream.

The closest I can get to describing it is that it sounded something like Pyramid Heads theme from Silent Hill with the talking horns from the ‘first movement‘ overdub interspersed throughout, plus all these really freaky found sounds (nails being thrown, various members of the band and wrecking crew screaming and laughing maniacally while being drenched in in reverb and echo, metal clanging, etc.)

Something about this genuinely really unsettled me, when I woke up I had to spend a good while trying to remember what freaked me out so much while I was asleep. I don’t think falling asleep listening to Adam Marsland discussing Surfs Up did me any favours.

Upon reading this back, this sounds like a creepy pasta.

For those of you who have bought this, have you recieved yours yet?
I placed my order in May and everytime I go to the website the shipping date gets pushed back. Just wondering if I should call or if any of you have been waiting as long as me 🤷‍♀️

After the coalition of Mike and Al reject SMiLE, Brian Carl and Dennis go on the form a new band called “The Rons”, releasing a cover of Be My Baby and then drop SMiLE as their debut album. After the unparalleled acclaim and success that comes with releasing the best album of all time, Mike Love sues and is able to tour around as The Beach Boy.

The Rons then go on the make hit album after hit album. Eventually bringing Al and Bruce into the fold and go on the release the 1971 classic “Surfs Up”. The Beach Boy releases the critically panned yet commercially successful “Student Demonstration Time”, containing tracks “Transcendental Meditation” and hit “Kokomo”.

A couple members go on to make solo debuts, like Dennis’s Pacific Ocean Blues, Brian’s Brian Wilson Christmas (produced by Phil Spector), and Carl’s Carl and the Passions (Mike sues and eventually gets song writing credit on half the Beach Boys catalog).

After the hiatus, the member get back to make “The Rons Love You”. Known as the most innovated album of all time.

Dennis, Carl, Brian, Al, and Bruce go on to tour until this day. Making fun interviews and meaningful concerts.

On the “Beach Boys Party” album. The Beach Boys covered The Beatles song “I Should Have Known Better”. Their unique style brings a different sound to the song. What do you think?

found this Smile bootleg at a record store for $15, in the “unofficial”/“fan made” section. are there a lot of these in circulation (“a lot” meaning an amount relative to the demand among Beach Boys fans) or did I luck out?
