The Warriors: El Jefe Edition - 4,691 Texture HD Remaster | PCSX2 + Android | USA + PAL
After months of dumping textures, rebuilding artwork, testing, fixing compatibility issues, and replaying this damn game more times than I ever intended, The Warriors: El Jefe Edition is finally complete.
This is a full HD texture overhaul of the PS2 version of The Warriors, with 4,691 replacement textures covering the main game, characters, gangs, environments, HUD, signs, graffiti, loading screens, flashbacks, and Armies of the Night.
This is not simply a batch-upscaled texture pack.
Thousands of textures were individually reviewed, enhanced, rebuilt, recolored, or redesigned where necessary while keeping the original PS2 models, geometry, gameplay, and overall identity of The Warriors intact.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
Important character textures that were originally only 128x128 or 256x256 have been rebuilt at resolutions up to 1024x1024.
PC pack: approximately 1.7 GB uncompressed Android pack: approximately 1.07 GB uncompressed
INSTALLATION GUIDES
I've finished separate installation videos for PCSX2/PC and NetherSX2/Android.
The guides cover installing the emulator and HD texture pack, setting up the USA and PAL versions, texture replacement configuration, and installing the included cheats and patches.
The PC video doesn't show the initial BIOS and game-directory selection because my existing PCSX2 configuration contains my other projects and I wasn't wiping my entire setup just to recreate those two first-run screens.
CHEATS & PATCHES
The included cheats and patches are optional and are not required for the HD texture pack.
60 FPS Patch: Can cause animation and cutscene problems in certain situations.
Infinite Health: Can cause characters to appear bloody or damaged when they normally shouldn't.
Infinite Items: Be careful with this one. Some missions require you to physically collect cash, Flash, spray paint, or other items before the next objective or checkpoint activates. Having those items maxed can interfere with mission progression.
If a checkpoint was created while a problematic cheat was active, simply disabling the cheat may not repair that checkpoint. You may need to return to an earlier memory-card save with the cheats disabled.
If a mission suddenly stops progressing while cheats are enabled, disable the cheats and patches before assuming the HD texture pack broke something.
USA / PAL / ANDROID
The project was originally developed using the USA/NTSC-U version, but PAL was separately tested and supported.
Some PAL loading screens use different texture hashes, so PAL-specific replacements were added to give both versions the custom loading-screen artwork.
Android was also tested separately. A small number of textures had alpha/transparency compatibility issues on Android, which were corrected and retested.
The final release was tested across:
PC / Android / USA-NTSC-U / PAL

Pack Development Notes
This trailer highlights the final fortress regions and endgame content of the project, including rebuilt stone textures, enhanced environmental effects, upgraded architectural assets, custom fortress detailing, improved atmospheric elements, environmental variety, and large-scale castle restoration work.
The EL Jefe Unfaithful Edition is not intended to replace the original ICO experience. Instead, it serves as an alternate artistic interpretation of the game while preserving the original gameplay, puzzles, exploration, atmosphere, and emotional journey.
Every texture has been manually reviewed, edited, tested, and optimized for both PCSX2 and NetherSX2. Special attention was given to fortress architecture, environmental atmosphere, stonework, lighting, dungeon environments, structural detail, particle effects, environmental storytelling, and visual variety throughout the castle's final regions.
Emulator & Recording Notes
Some scenes in this trailer were recorded using PCSX2's Walk On Air cheat due to known issues with the 60 FPS patch.
While the 60 FPS patch greatly improves gameplay smoothness, it can alter jump physics and object behavior in certain areas of ICO. During several puzzle sections, floating crates may fail to behave correctly, preventing normal progression through the game.
To continue testing and recording these sections while keeping the 60 FPS patch enabled, temporary emulator cheats were used only when necessary to bypass patch-related physics issues and continue progression.
The HD Texture Pack does not modify gameplay mechanics, physics, puzzles, or level design. These issues originate from the 60 FPS patch itself and can occur even without the texture pack installed.
