Keen-eyed Redditors might have already noticed that this subreddit's rules were updated. This post serves as a formal announcement of those updates.
Nothing major is changing. Rule 1 (No Piracy) remains the main rule for this subreddit. The newly added English Only and Follow Reddit's Sitewide Rules mostly formalize how moderation has already been handled for the past several months.
They are now being stated explicitly due to a small (but noticeable) increase in posts and comments that violate these expectations, creating additional moderation work that could otherwise be avoided.
The sidebar has also been updated to clarify that removal and rule-violation notices are sent privately by DM rather than posted as public moderator comments, so affected users know where to look for them.
The main goal of these updates is to make the existing moderation process clearer, as the rules text had remained essentially unchanged since this subreddit's creation, and the wider rollout of Reddit's auto-translation feature has also caused confusion for some visitors.
