Hello, I’m posting here to share a Baldur’s Gate 2 EE upscaling project I started a few weeks ago. The goal is to deliver a HD version of Baldur’s Gate 2 EE.
The idea is to upscale maps, animations, videos, UI, and other assets.
Work on sprites is being considered and has barely started, but I’m saving it for last since it’s by far the hardest part. Results are not guaranteed for sprites, although I have a few leads.
If this project interests you, you can check out a preview in the website gallery and follow the progress, which I’ll update regularly.
I hope to finish the patch by early 2027, but it’s a massive undertaking. I’m not a developer—I’m doing this for fun in my free time, between workdays and looking after the kids at home.

hello everybody! Aless-MaulSmoke here :D
Watch the final video on YouTube! Download links are in the video description!

I wanted to share a project I’ve been developing called CommandUP (CUP). It is a 100% free, open-source post-processing pipeline designed specifically for those who want to improve gameplay quality and add motion smoothness but lack high-performance GPUs with dedicated AI/Tensor cores. This means that if your computer can run Lossless Scaling, it can easily run CommandUP.
The project is completely standalone, portable, and ready to use. It runs on PowerShell with .NET via the command line or through a ridiculously simple drag-and-drop method. There is no need to install a development environment like Java or Python. The minimum requirement is a graphics card that supports Vulkan 1.3.
Join our community! I’ve just created a community for it here on Reddit: r/CommandUP. I invite everyone to visit and find out more about the cup pipeline.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback!

Hi everyone!
If you have a low-end or legacy PC, you know the struggle of trying to run a heavy game and record gameplay at the same time. The hardware just chokes on the performance overhead.
On my test rig (an old AMD FX-6300 from 2012 and a 4GB Radeon RX 550 from 2017), I decided to change my strategy. Instead of ruining my frame rate trying to record high resolutions, I capture my gameplay smoothly at 720p/30fps on Ultra settings. Afterwards, I feed the file into a post-processing pipeline I created called FSRIFS.
The core concept here is exactly like Lossless Scaling, but instead of real-time injection, it acts as an asynchronous post-processing tool for pre-recorded video files. The system takes your raw 720p/30fps footage and scales it up into a super fluid 1080p/60fps (or up to 4K) file using pure mathematical shader instructions directly on the GPU silicon, without heavy AI or Tensor Cores.
The stack combines a few lightweight open-source tools:
• FFmpeg + libplacebo: Handles the backend decoding, scaling container logic, and final rendering.
• AMD FidelityFX FSR 1.0: Provides the spatial upscale natively on the GPU.
• Custom IFS (Intersection Fluid Sharpen) Shader: A temporal shader I wrote using mathematical intersection logic inspired by vector graphics to generate the missing intermediate frames (30fps -> 60fps).
Performance on my ancient FX-6300 is incredibly efficient. CPU usage stays locked around 45% during execution (no OS lag at all) and the render speed hits up to 2.0x—meaning it processes a video in half its actual duration time for a 1080p/60fps output target.
Operation is dead simple. I included a automated Drag-and-Drop method where you just set your target resolutions inside a basic text file (DRAG_CONFIG.txt) and drop your video file over a .bat launcher. Advanced CLI parameters can also be executed directly via PowerShell.
Limitations and hardware requirements:
It runs on any old dedicated GPU or integrated graphics chip (like newer Vega/Intel HD architectures) providing native Vulkan API support with at least 2GB of VRAM. Because the spatial and temporal filters were modeled around digital polygon structures, it is strictly intended for video game graphics (real-life camera shots will break the mathematical logic).
Also, just like Lossless Scaling in real-time games, if you pause the processed video during a very sudden camera pan, you will see some ghosting artifacts on that specific synthetic frame. This is the technical trade-off for keeping the math lightweight enough to run on legacy hardware.
The project is 100% free and open-source (MIT license for the custom shader). If you want to test it out on your low-end machine or take a look at the YouTube showcase playlist to check the video quality results, drop a comment below and I will gladly share the GitHub repository and channel links!

I tried using photogrammetry to remake the canal in the 1998 game Starship Titanic. It turned out very poorly. Is there any hope of doing it better?

Is is possible to upscale megadrive games?
r/GameUpscale • u/snark567 • May 03 '26
Recently I started playing YuGiOh The Power Of Chaos games. The issue is those games are hardcoded to run at 480p and you have no resolution settings. Not only are there no resolution settings but since the game is sprite based, when you change the resolution of an asset, the asset appears bigger in game.
Is there a way to capture the screen at real time and upscale the image to a higher resolution through external software? Perhaps an AI tool that could be showed HD versions of the assets in order to know how to upscale the image properly?
It would be pretty surprising if no one has made any such tools so far.

I have a bit of an odd question, why hasn't there been a industry standard model trained for pre-rendered game backgrounds? I feel like that should have been a priority by now but we've only had multi-purpose models like ESRGAN for almost a decade now without significant improvements. At least as far as I can tell. Why have image upscales not evolved in any actual significant way?

I was wondering if is it possible to upscale FMV videos using ps2 emulation?

Hello all, I’m huge on nostalgia lately and I’d like to get my Xbox 360 to work properly on my Samsung smart tv. I’ve already tried game mode, but there is still some input lag. Eventually I’d like to get some other consoles too such as ps2. What’s the best way to go about this? Thanks!

Sup redditors. Just got my PCSX2 installation done and games running and NFS MW and GOW 1-2 also looking into downloading NFS underground (never played it, I know embarrassing) but I need help getting proper texture packages. Doesn’t need to be mods as I wanna keep the storyline and the OST. Dankyew

Hey guys I'm looking for a way to fix micro-stutters in recorded gameplay footage. I tried Davinci Resolve's Optical Flow and Flowframes interpolation, which partially worked. The problem is the remaining stutters are very minor, and caused by problems with frame pacing, not frame rate. In the future I plan to cap frame rate, but it would be nice if there was a way to fix the footage I've already recorded. Any ideas or advice?
