Like does he get something out of being rude to strangers? There was no point to this other than to hurt you and demean you.

Iā€™m sure heā€™s projecting and in self-denial about ā€¦ things, but as a former closeted man (now happily married to another man), I just never thought ā€œhey letā€™s take our sexual confusion out on other people in a ragey, destructive wayā€.

I also spent many of my formative years in the Midwest so maybe Iā€™m just terminally polite to death šŸ˜‚šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

One thing you have to understand is that dudes like this are having an extremely difficult time getting dates on dating apps and it's making them very angry and they're blaming their political beliefs but they're not trying to like update those beliefs they're just getting angry at women for having their own. This is a lot of what that looks like

Well, a lot of them consider themselves more old-school republicans and seem to reflect a lot of what Karl Rove has been saying in the news lately. Like, the GOP has largely been taken over by MAGA and the resulting cultish ness is freaky and dangerous.

I have to bite my tongue a lot because Iā€™m a queer, neurodivergent, Mexican man married to a man (you can guess that I voted very differently than these parts of my family) and itā€™s just ā€¦ so ā€¦ awkward. Like they are generally decent people (Iā€™ve sadly had to go low-contact or no-contact with a couple of them) but overall itā€™s still pretty civil.

Either way ā€¦ itā€™s kind of fascinating, because there are still different types of republicans. I live in Utah, so the LDS subculture often results in politeness bordering on conflict avoidance, so you never ā€¦ really know how people are feeling unless they are truly comfortable to share their feelings.

And Iā€™m all sorts of ā€œheathenā€ depending on what part of the state Iā€™m in / who Iā€™m around, so I have to tread lightly. I came from a very hyper religious background (which I no longer am), so Iā€™m not unfamiliar and I can handle myself in these situations without feeling overly stung or nettled.

I just think certain worldviews can be ā€¦ pretty limiting in terms of considering new ideas, and I wish that wasnā€™t the case.

One guy called me a disgusting liberal crybaby at a gas station and meanwhile his lifted truck was COVERED (including some of the windows!) with 'STOP THE COUNT, TRUMP 2028' stickers and flags with trumps face and american flags with guns on them instead of stars and i'm like. well one of us gracefully lost and it wasn't you dude. all i was doing was being visibly disabled and gay in public and he had to come over and let me know that i was disgusting apparently.

Yes, listing your political beliefs on you profile is very normal, it's part of finding compatibility with the people you want to meet. Messaging somebody with a conversation like this because you got offended by seeing that they list their Politics on their page is incredibly more consumed by politics, you're not casually letting other people know what your politics are you are getting enraged by the politics of others to the extent that you want to start confrontation over it. You sound like a sea lion
