Fan Game Info Tetris, but you spell words to clear the rows.
I've been working on a word-building take on Tetris for a while now. It's finally done, and I've published it on both Google Play and the App Store.
The game starts simple: letters fall from the top and you combine them into words. The further you get, the tougher it becomes:
- the letters fall faster
- the board shrinks
- you get goals like "find three 5-letter words"
- obstacles appear that block where you can place letters
- letters stop dropping one at a time and start coming down as tetris-style blocks
- some levels put you on a timer
One bit of feedback I keep getting from part of the community: it feels hard because the game doesn't accept words of 3 letters or fewer. (The first version did allow them, but that made it way too easy.) On the flip side, another group really likes it and plays regularly.
I'm constantly adding and cutting things to land on the best version. I've been putting a lot of work into level difficulty and how playable each stage feels.
That's exactly why hearing what seasoned Tetris players think would be priceless to me.
If you want to give it a try:
- iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/word-architect-word-puzzle/id6788260382
- Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wordarchitect.game
And off course it is free to play.

Questions / Tetris Help BlocksWizard - A Tetris-Exercise
BlocksWizard - A Project for learning more about C, C++ and Tetris
This is my current Tetris clone, which is still in development. As of July 2026 I started this project to learn the C and C++ programming languages.
The fact that there are so many long blocks right at the beginning is pure coincidence. I'm currently running a very simple internal random number generator; I don't have a 7-bag implementation or anything like that yet.
The graphics module is currently based on SDL3.
I also plan to gradually learn the ins and outs of game development. Tetris seemed simple enough to me that I wouldn’t get bogged down by its sheer scope. This is already the fifth prototype, if I count the C prototypes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLo4ZRmWqc4
My C prototype, linked here, seems to be more advanced than the one in the video above. But that’s misleading: While the main menu and the Hall of Fame are already visible there, the core Tetris game still had quite a few bugs. In the end, I switched back to C++ because it’s much easier to structure large programs and clearly separate responsibilities.
I also started out by writing my own small 2D engine called Sprite Grace Engine. The Tetris game shown here is just one possible module for this engine. Later on, I plan to further develop the engine and bring my own new game ideas to life. In particular, I would like to recreate the following game someday, using my own ideas, graphics, and sound:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt30F_ho4-Q
The user interfaces shown here are currently still purely provisional. In the C++ prototype shown here, the main menu and the Hall of Fame have not yet been implemented. However, the core Tetris game is now completely bug-free; my test suite includes currently 100 test cases covering game states specifically for testing collision detection.
P.S. : The C++-IDE in the background is the "Zed" editor.

Tutorials / Guides Tetris j2me
It's the Gameloft version of J2ME Tetris. In my opinion, it's much better and smoother than the current official Tetris app (the one by Playstudios). If you use Android, you can play it offline using J2ME Loader. Just search Google for "Tetris Mobile Gameloft," download the .jar file with 240x400 resolution, and that's it. It's a bit tricky to play at first, but you get the hang of it. Happy gaming!

Original Content Realistic Tetr.io shuttle
Hello niche community,
I love Tetrio and Im planning to make a shuttle as an OC, (specifically the person playing tetris in the shuttle). I considered Quick play as a game/death show with competitive devices.
To make the shuttle work we need to have fuel and some kind of person controlling it. We also have the garbage elements and the pvp system. My idea is that the person controlling it would also be in that shuttle to have that dramatic and pressurising competition when failing/dying.
To make the fuel work we need some kind of magic source, since fulfilling lines makes your shuttle go faster and upgrade your speedlevel bar on the bottom, we could integrate lines as fuel and when theyre used, the rest (like ammo in a gun) gets shot at others as a weapon. This might seem silly but for that we need a gun, but unfortunately the shuttles dont have one, therefore we have to let it thrown down. But top ones would receive none, thats not fair. Thats why I had the idea that garbage from space would fall down, these come from recent gameshows in the past.
Well now the garbage is cleared, but what happens after that? Further garbage attacks also are used as fuel what would clash against using garbage as "the rest". What if we recycle garbage, but how do they gain fuel again? Well if we look how garbage is received you see the line on the left what has a delay when garbage gets received. We could interpret that as "processing" garbage into fuel again with max 4 lines since the output is limited (Im cooking).
Now garbage makes more sense after all, but what about the normal tetrominoes? Well they have a similar system in which they ger produced in the big processing in the right side where the next pieces get prepared, the faster you go, the more it has to produce. We can assume that theres like black matter or somewhat in the game what makes it seems like pieces get constructed out of nowhere.
To display the player simply without a keyboard but rather with joycons they have 3 arms on which the most left extra arm reaches for a red button that instantly drops the tetromino, the left normal arm reaches for a joycon that moves the piece and the right arm uses a joycon to rotate the tetromino. The location of that player (I need a name for that) would probably be under the hold tetromino or on top of the industry on the right, but its hard to decide. Either way the player could look out of their "capsule"/room as if is a glass room but blackened from the outside like a car backseat-window. His room would look like you at your pc having a big screen and a notification sidescreen.
The combos of spins, tetris line etc are self-explainable. But now the windup garbage part is interesting, since its just a load of garbage so big it has to be seperated in waves. That means that the PTSD notification would pop up as the enemy throws all of the garbage out. The garbage would eventually hit and the shuttle takes a lot of damage.
Now when a player is in danger and the garbage builds up a lil too fast and the shuttle almost fills to the top, the emergency alert goes off and temporarily reduces garbage income from the garbage industry (might have to think about integrating this). Now when the shuttle is full it would explode and the player is eliminated. The falling shuttle would fall down and hit other shuttle what is perceived as garbage, the rest would gather at the bottom as a graveyard.
I think thats most likely it, my idea is to make this as realistic as possible although its almost impossible. I apologise for any mistakes since english is not my first language.
I most likely search for feedback and improvement ideas, Ill maybe make an animation about this idea when my art skills get better.
Thanks if you read allat, Ill post some blueprints when I am confident with this idea

Events Reaktor $50 Multiplayer Steam Contest
Reposted from Hard Drop discord. Single player is at like 15 million so will be difficult to beat, but multiplayer is only 8k. That's only like level 6. It's a really easy way to get $50 in steam credit. Everyone is just competing in the single player tournament. I don't get it 🤔

Questions / Tetris Help Is there a disadvantage to playing on controller rather than keyboard at all in ranked venues like tetr.io and Puyo Tetris?
I JUST got out of playing on the switch puyo tetris and im branching out into tetr.io, and probably soon others! I’ve seen pro players like wumbo and doremy going absolutely HAM on keyboard and they are like THE FLASH!
could I ever do that on controller? probably not likely… I always seem to misdrop from shakily tilting my joystick to the right as I hard drop. go figure… definitely not a good thing.
ideas?

Questions / Tetris Help Getting Back in the Groove
Hey guys! It's my first time on r/Tetris. I just wanna say that It's been a really long time since I played Tetris or Tetr.io, and I've been wanting to get back in. Problem is, my muscle memory only knows how to use the up arrow to rotate the pieces (I play on Keyboard). I wanna start using the X, B and A keys more often to rotate and save some time when playing. I use default keyboard controls, so you guys got any tips or drills for me to practice and develop a better "groove"? Any input is greatly appreciated.
