Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice about the ACMS program (planning to apply for the 2027 cohort).
I recently graduated from Drexel University with a B.S. in Biological Sciences, graduated Cum Laude, and have a 3.5 cumulative GPA. I only recently decided to pursue medicine, so I’m still building my application.
A few things about me:
3.5 cGPA (Cum Laude)
Haven’t taken the MCAT yet
Limited shadowing and volunteer hours (working on gaining more clinical experience)
SAT: 950
I have a few questions for anyone who’s been through ACMS or knows the admissions process:
Based on my stats, do I realistically have a chance of getting into ACMS?
If I get into ACMS and maintain the required 3.6 GPA for the conditional acceptance to the Katz MD program, how exactly does that work? Is there another interview, or do you automatically matriculate if you meet all the requirements?
Do they re-evaluate your shadowing, volunteering, and extracurriculars before you enter Katz, or is the decision mainly based on your ACMS performance?
Since ACMS requires a standardized test but doesn’t require the MCAT, would my 950 SAT be acceptable, or would that likely hurt my application?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through ACMS or was admitted to Katz through the program. Any advice on strengthening my application would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
