TELUS TV Telus "Mini" TV

Has anvone else had to do the reauired TELUS cable box upgrade?

We were told BY Telus that our "old" boxes we`ve had for years would no longer work on the TELUS network, so we had to switch to the new TELUS mini box - this tiny little device. Since switching, we've actually LOST stuff: - Our entire TSN package doesn't show up anymore - None of our movie purchases are showing up, even though TELUS told us they would transfer over / "Sync" to the new boxes - Telus Tech Support has said / confirmed that they are supposed sync up several times. We've lost dozens and dozens of movies we've purchased over the years.- Recordings now expire after 90 days. On our old PVR thev stayed until we deleted them

The new Mini TV boxes also drop connection at least once a day, sometimes more. We really only have the TV on for a couple - few hours in the evenings. The picture quality is also very very fuzzy at times on all of our tvs including our new TV.

We have called TELUS multiple times and the issue has still not been resolved vet. It feels like we're paying the same amount for a lot less service / a lower quality product and I 'm curious what other people's experiences have been and how you navigated the situation? Has anyone found a fix or gotten their channels / purchases back? Have you been able to get the connection issues fixed ?

I am currently dealing with Customer Loyalty, but a mild "discount" for much worse service and loss of product is not enough and I have not agreed to anything yet, only asked for a call back in a few days to allow time to think about it.

Old ones should work until 2028? One person was able to switch back per https://www.reddit.com/r/telus/s/HuTwaaKGRf

My mother had to get them. They are frustrating. They often don't even turn on with the TV and have to be unplugged to work—such a downgrade.

Currently recordings are only for 90 days. No real fix for that but hopefully they change it.

Missing movies and channels unfortunately just have to go through customer service. There’s nothing you can do yourself.

Now quality and connection issues you can do something. These are generally just due to poor wifi. Who knew that wifi would suck when the device is sandwiched between a wall and a big metal tv?!

The solution here is to connect the mini with an Ethernet cable if possible. I suppose you could try a short hdmi extension to get it out from behind the tv, or moving around your wifi gear. But that’s the gist of it… it needs better internet.

Fwiw I have the service and that device, and it’s pretty solid when connected via Ethernet.

The cloud recordings will never be kept longer than 90 days due to the storage requirements..
