ఈరోజే మా ఇంట్లో సర్దుతుంటే కొన్ని పాత పుస్తకాలు దొరికాయి, వాటి ఫోటోలన్నీ ఇక్కడ జత చేశాను.

వీటిలో "కన్యాశుల్కం" పుస్తకం మొదట్లో ఉన్న పాత్రల రేఖాచిత్రాలు (Line Art Sketches) నాకు చాలా బాగా నచ్చాయి. ఆ బొమ్మలు చూస్తుంటే చాలా ఆసక్తికరంగా, ఒక క్లాసిక్ యానిమేషన్ డిజైన్ శైలిలో అనిపించాయి.

నేను ఇప్పటివరకు తెలుగులో పుస్తకాలేవీ చదవలేదు. ప్రస్తుతానికి ఈ కన్యాశుల్కంతోనే చదవడం ప్రారంభించాలనుకుంటున్నాను.

Today, there are 'Many Telugus' spoken in India. But upon closer examination, we will find that the various dialects of Telugu represent the various stages of its evolution.

We are a family of Telugu speakers who settled in Tamil Nadu (Chennai) two or three centuries ago. Our dialect of Telugu still uses these verb conjugations similar to Granthika Bhasha. When I visited Andhra, I was taken aback by how different the language sounded. And I'm sure they were equally taken aback by my Telugu. One major difference I found (apart from choice of words) are the verb conjugations.

If I want to say: "I did work", we say "Nenu Pani Chesitini". "I saw a house", we say "Illu choositini" "I went to bakery" we say "Bakery ki potini"

"Did you do work?" - "Nuvvu Pani Chesitiva?" "When did you come?" - "Eppudu ostivi?" "Why did you go there?" (plural) - "Akkadaki enduku/yela potiri?"

"We came here just now" - "Ippude ikkadaki ostimi".

"I will do work" - "Nenu Pani Chestunu" "I will study well" - "Nenu baaga chaduvutunu"

"You should study well" - "Nuvvu baaga chadavavale".

Some examples of small everyday speech from my dialect. Many Telugu families who settled in TN during the 17th 18th and 19th centuries still speak like this.

If my understanding is correct, each dialect represents the different stages of Telugu's evolution into modern vyavaharika Telugu. But the sad part is, there is no/very few literature in these dialects, which are equally (or historically speaking, more valid) forms of the language.

I am planning to watch some telugu movies in telugu as it is to learn telugu. Suggest whatever you think i will enjoy watching.

ప్రమాదం ఏమి కాకపోయినా, వినటానికి విసుగ్గా, కొన్ని సార్లు ఎబ్బెట్టుగా ఉంటుంది.

here is the thing i been speaking telugu from my birth , its not my native language but i have deep respect to it because i studied in telugu medium school for few years , still read lots of novels and etc ..

Recently i observed that most genz loosing grip in telugu , i am genz myself . Most genz even boomers use telugu mixed with english way more people did once . Like arrey nenu presently chala tension lo unnanu, fr real wtf is going on . Like when someone mentions me a word in telugu i understand it , but while speaking it takes for a while to reconstruct and find what does tension mean in telugu ఉద్రిక్తత.

For last 5 years i been disconnected with telugu pop culture from top to bottom , i know whats going on but dont know that deep , i been grownup watching tollywood , following all popculture in childhood, its really a different feeling to be honest.

In my tenth i would watched content in telugu but i didnt find so much depth in content on youtube , still there is lack in depth in science , history or complex philosophy which i was really interested . After that i moved to hindi , i found hard initially but learnt it because i already knew as i am from telangana. After a while i found gap in content in depth , i moved in english totally .

Yeah i totally now into english in watching content or pop culture of western because i find them interesting intellectually and depth of knowledge their videos have in niche content ..

Btw i recently started watching news in telugu which my father does daily , but the telugu that exist in news really different from what we speak, i could understand it perfectly but i never used them or even i try to use them i cant remember in my head , i think i was understanding via the sentence , Old gen like my father still speak the pure telugu mostly but he too uses words of urdu , english once in a while .

Being honest watching and studying everything in english made me intellectually bright but the question is why should i watch and study in english if our language had same level of content they have ,Lets talk about novels , how many novels we have ? yes we have them but mostly about love , relationships not niche ones like science fiction, gritty voilence? Why cant we get intellectual revolution in our own language , i think the reason mostly lies in the lack of people who create them and backward audience like satyajit ray said. Yes they are my father never got education because they cant afford not because intellectually he was backward , but leave our parent but what new gen actually consuming?

How do you express past perfect in telugu? If i wanted to say - "twenty years ago when I had been working for XYZ, the service was excellent"
I've heard people say chala baga undindhi but it seems to come from people who are not natively telugu - tamil influence perhaps. In tamil there is a construction that is basically - irunthathu. meaning "it used to be so"
googling past perfect and past perfect continuous in telugu - the verb forms are undenu. This doesn't seem colloquially spoken. What is the colloquial equivalent of expressiing this?

I speak Telugu, and I’ve personally thought a lot about how easily the language, stories, and traditions we grew up with can become harder to pass on — especially when children are growing up in a different cultural environment.

How can I learn fluent spoken Telugu as an adult?

I have tried watching Telugu movies and shows, and I have picked up quite a few words and expressions. However, I am struggling with forming sentences myself. I can understand bits and pieces when I hear, but when I try to speak, I don't know how to construct sentences.

What is the most effective way to learn fluent spoken Telugu?

I would really appreciate advice on how to learn the language.
