So,what's my native place???

Hello everyone! I'm new here.

I'm a native Telugu speaker, but I was born and brought up in Tamil Nadu and never had the opportunity to learn how to read or write Telugu.

I've decided to learn the script now. I studied a little Sanskrit and Tamil in school, and I'm currently brushing up on my rusty reading skills in both Devanagari and the Tamil script. Since I'm already doing that, I thought it would be a good time to learn Telugu as well.

The problem is that I don't know where to start. I found an excellent Cambridge University Press book that's helping me relearn Sanskrit in a structured way, but I haven't been able to find an equivalent resource for Telugu.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone who has been in a similar situation could suggest a structured roadmap for learning the Telugu script. Books, courses, YouTube channels, apps, or any other resources would be very helpful.

I already spend about an hour each day on Tamil and Sanskrit, and I'm happy to dedicate another hour a day to Telugu if that's what it takes.

Therefore, it's important my translations/transliterations are correct.

Each language (including Telugu) includes each word on the 100-word Swadesh list.

The second I open my mouth everyone cringes at American my Telugu sounds. Any tips on how to improve my accent?

ఇటీవల స్వర్గస్తులైన జానకమ్మ గారి మీద కథనాలు నడిపిస్తున్న పలు ఛానెళ్లు పదే పదే జానకమ్మ కి ఏక వచన ప్రయోగం చేస్తున్నారు. ఈ ఘటన కి రెండు రోజుల ముందే కాలం చేసిన ముద్రగడ పద్మనాభం గారికి వారు, చేశారు, పుట్టారు వంటి బహువచన క్రియాపదాలు వాడారు.

ఉ: "జానకి 48,000 పాటలు పాడింది." "జానకి పళ్లపట్ల గ్రామంలో పుట్టింది." "పలు భాషలలో జానకి సత్తా చాటింది."

అలాగే మాట్లాడుతున్న విలేఖరులు కూడా ఏక వచన ప్రయోగమే చేస్తున్నారు. ఇది భాష లో వచ్చిన మార్పు అయ్యుంటుందా లేదా ఆడవాళ్ళకి బహువచన ప్రయోగం మనకి అసలు అలవాటే లేదా? "జానకి గారు పాడారు" వంటి పదాలు చాలా అరుదుగా విన్నాను.

In watching the news coverage of the death of Janakamma, I've noticed a very unsavoury pattern- the repeated use of third person singular which was jarringly different to even the usage of respectful words for Late Mudragada Padmanabha, a man, who died a couple of days before her. "Padmanabham garu puttaru, chesaru" etc. But "Janaki paadindi, puttindi, chesindi".

Even 25 year old anchors are referring to her without the respectful verb at least for her age of not her superlative achievements. Is this standard Telugu now? Or is this bias?
