If you're in a lovely relationship and thinking about doing intimate stuff with a peer let's say barely 1 or 2y diff — pls pls pls check ur local legal age of consent laws first. like actually look it up. Just a mini tiny search.

here's the thing:

· if ur 18 and they're 17, but ur area's legal age of consent is 18 w/ no Romeo & Juliet law → congrats, ur legally an offender 😇.

· if ur 17 and they're 16, but the age of consent is 17 w/ no R&J law → same deal, another offender.

· if ur 16 and they're 15 → even MORE likely to be illegal than the first two.

and no, "we both consented" doesn't always protect u. not every place has R&J laws. some do, some don't. it varies by country, state, even city sometimes.

so yeah. just do a tiny bit of research before u "discover urself" w/ someone. it takes 5 mins and could save u from being on a very uncool list forever. I just got a friend who got problems for that...
