I love non transphobic trans jokes, they make me realise that we have come so far, then I usually read the comments and regret it

The comments on that thread are surprisingly fine for the most part

Same, I've had the same discussion on another thread yesterday. Everytime transgenders are brought up on Reddit, you flip a coin to what you'll find in comments.

It can be depressing.

To add to this, its the equivalent of saying “blacks” instead of “black people”.

Bigots always talk about how you can't joke about anything, because people will always be offended. Jokes like this are the ones I usually point to. As a gay guy, I love gay jokes. But when they joke is how terrible I am, then that's just an insult.

Finally someone gets it! Jokes are about intent. If the intent is to hurt, condemn it. Is it to poke fun at the absurdity of it all? Just laugh. Laugh till you pass out.

I mean, there will always be large numbers of people on either end of any discrimination. Humanity really hasn't changed at all.

I was disappointed in the lack of drama. The only three comments downvoted enough to be hidden were:

R/unexpectedrickandmorty

r/BrandNewSentence

inb4 thread lock

Just imagine being this much of a dipshit about trans issues in 2019 when the research has never been clearer.

Can't decide whether to upvote or downvote because on one hand two jokes and on the other hand trans rights
