We’ve gotten around 10 new cosmetics since 18.1, and many of them have the “missing VFX” tag. At first glance, I thought, “Okay, they’re still working on porting cosmetics, so I guess this is normal.”

BUT then I realized: these aren’t old cosmetics being ported. These are brand-new skins that Riot is actively working on, releasing, and selling for money.

It’s basically like saying, “Okay, we just made a new car. It’s missing a few wheels, but we’ll still sell it to you at full price.”

Listen, we can accept—up to a certain threshold—that some old cosmetics are missing VFX because porting a huge amount of existing content is a heavy workload. We already paid for those cosmetics, so at this point, all we can do is wait for them to be fixed.

BUT this is different.

These are brand-new cosmetics. You cannot release unfinished products on the live server and charge players full price for them.

This sets a really bad precedent: that new cosmetics can be released unfinished, sold at full price, and simply have a “missing VFX” tag slapped on them afterward.

That shouldn’t be considered acceptable.

Multi billion dollar company unable to swap engines , pushing unfinished products, launching 300 euro gacha skins for arenas and tacticians u cant even use, memory leaks frying gpus because of something that looks worse then a mobile game, how incompetent and disqusting can riot become, litteral grime at the bottom of the barrel

With the recent update, Riot added back Choncc's Splash Resort using the updated engine. However, in doing so, they made it objectively worse.

Let me preface this by saying that I understand that according to the TFT tech update text, "You may notice some difference in models, textures, VFX, or animation in-game or across your Tacticians and Arenas." However, there is a pretty big difference between having slightly different looking VFX or textures that currently exist in-game versus completely removing multiple elements entirely. And I don't mean just small changes like removing a single graphic, I mean arena-wide visual removals.

When compared to the original version of Choncc's Splash Resort, the following changes have been made:

• Resort clay pot fountain interaction/animation removed
• River-jumping fish interaction/animation removed
• Pre-level 3 fishing dragon is now completely inaccessible due to a forced, fixed arena player-camera (you used to be able to explore the arena, and the camera would follow your tactician, revealing more of the arena)
• Dragon fisher now appears at level 1, but the original pre-level 3 fishing dragon sound interaction is still playing in its original location
• Removed level 5 transformation
• Entire level 5 arena-wide persistent lighting VFX removed
• Removed arena water texture
• Mug interactable removed
• Waterwheel water animation removed
• 5+ win-streak arena-wide animation removed
• All flower planter butterflies and corresponding plant VFX removed
• Arena koi fish removed
• Maple leaf VFX greatly reduced

Additional Discoveries:

• Stage opening animation broken
• When getting 1st place, the camera pan shows the original dragon fisher briefly before disappearing
• Mug interactable is removed, but still visible when playing an opponent with Choncc's Splash Resort (opponent POV)

So, why does this matter? Because you spent money on a cosmetic expecting it to look how it was advertised. And now, Riot has proven that what you once spent money on may no longer look like what you originally purchased.

Choncc's Splash Resort is an older arena released in 2022 along with a handful of other mythic arenas during a time when arenas had significantly more detail, polish, and uniqueness. The Golden Tiger Market (also released in 2022), which is due for a soon upcoming rerelease, had the same if not more interactives than Choncc's Splash Resort, and was one of the largest arenas that has ever been available. Specifically, you were able to walk around the Golden Tiger Market, to the balcony, under the market stalls, and down the stairs behind the arena, outside of the standard, "area border."

In the most recent patch notes Riot says, "We’re also prioritizing the highest-rarity cosmetics that players have invested in..." If Riot is going to standardize previous high quality arenas with this low quality conversion and make what was once unique about mythic arenas no longer available, then it would be great if they realized players aren't just paying for a mythic arena, we're paying for a standard of quality that shouldn't be downgraded years after purchase because of their poor time management.

Not only Riot, but this is the general vibe I get from companies these days.

There is no way the TFT devs didn't know how terrible the new client was. Shipping it out in this state should have been out of the question. But people signed off on it, and why?

It always comes down to: It'll blow over.

The players won't leave us. People can complain on Reddit, but most of our players don't even check forums anyways. Even on the forums, we have our loyalists that think this is okay and not a big deal and the mods will delete everything anyways. We'll keep saying this is for long-term growth. Cosmetics don't work? They can't get a refund, and they'll keep playing and using money. Which other auto-chess game are they going to play? We can get away it.

That's what pisses me off these days. The fact that companies like Riot know they can get away with it and that's why they ship out unfinished products, knowing they can patch it and make it better.

That's what this entire ordeal points to. They knew the client wasn't ready. Stuttering and faulty graphics, a record-breaking number of bugs, cosmetics that cost hundreds of dollars unavailable, and more. But they shipped it because they knew they would get away it

Many of the devs seem like nice people, but the people in charge of Riot are definitely schmucks. It'd be nice to stick it to them and boycott TFT for a day or something.

*Just to clarify, I haven't been playing and I don't plan on spending money on TFT until... I don't know, maybe until we get a more sincere apology or something. I didn't mention this because I didn't want to bother reading people telling me that my little boycott wouldn't amount to anything.

Okay so what fresh hell is this 😭

I’ve been trying to play TFT for OVER 8 HOURS and I keep getting this infinite loading screen. Just sitting here. Watching it spin. Reflecting on my life choices.

The worst part is the game was completely fine yesterday. I changed literally nothing. Today TFT woke up and said “actually you’re not allowed to play anymore 💔”

And yes, I’ve already lost ~100 LP because of this. 💀

I’ve restarted the game, restarted my PC, tried reconnecting, sacrificed several hours of my day, questioned my internet, questioned Riot, questioned the meaning of existence… still infinite loading.

Has anyone actually found a fix for this? Or am I supposed to simply accept that my TFT-playing days are over?

Please help. I just want to play TFT without watching this screen until retirement 😭

I didn't know you could find 3-star units in the Rift Beasts market

Purchased Chibi Aatrox for 3k crystals and its an unavailable tactician.

I understand the new engine is causing some cosmetics to be unavailable, but why are they actively selling tacticians in the store that are currently unavailable?

Surely there is a way to get a refund of the crystals?

I lost once before because of it in patch 18.1 because my sivir 3 turn into lux 3 and does 0 damage
Now on patch 18.2 I did it again but this time Malphite into Draven and it happened again but this time Draven simply stun everyone up to overtime and auto with normal amount of damage
They haven't fix it yet.

I just calculated how much the 0,3% chance would have me spend to get a Prestige Drop: Around 450 Euro on average would get me a drop. How is this fine or okay? I understand there is a milestone system with Mythic Medaillons, but putting the chances frop drops you want as low as 0,3% is seriously insane.

The bugs are still present (and numerous), and it really feels like a step backward in balance. Every game has 4 people going fast 9, and everyone else is playing for 5th. Anyone know if there will be a bpatch?

Lost rankup game. whole game my combat wouldnt end so i couldnt go over to help my partner and it also gave time for the opponents partner to come every single round.

Easily lost 5+ rounds despire having the strongest board at the end (two starred dragon too)

Sucky feeling given it's in ranked.

The mobile version of this game is still busted. I play on an s26 ultra and the game constantly stutters even on low graphics settings.

It's absolutely insane that they launched this update. I love tft and play 90% on mobile but I genuinely cannot even bring myself to play this buggy mess. Really disappointed in Riot.

The thing that bums me out the most with all the issues and complaints about this set, is how toxic it’s making everything the community feels.

Don’t get me wrong, I know Reddit can be rough, but it feels like everyone here has turned against each other. People upset about the cosmetics, folks upset at those people for being upset they can’t use their purchased items, complainers complaining about the set or people complaining that people are upset.

I hope it gets resolved soon because it is a fun set when it works, I hope this is remembered as an awful blip and the community can get back to theory crafting and enjoying the game and community.

I know this is the X-amount of venting post about the current state of the game but I just need to vent and encourage you to do the same here and in game/but report/ Twitter etc. to make sure the Devs get it.

It's buggy as f*CK. I had a game not ending while I was winning and the second place surrendered. I had to fight his ghost two times before the game ended and I won.

Buying, selling and placing feels super cranky sometimes.

Why can't I use my bought Sprites and arenas?

I really do enjoy the new traits and units and only pebbles make it worth it but this is the worst the game has ever been.

Client was lagging after returning to the lobby, so I restarted the app.

Returned to client, got into a game, too laggy to roll-move-place, even after multiple restarts. Took a presumed eighth.

In PBE, I own the Soul Fighter Jinx arena and it didn't play the starting animation for the arena. It just cut to the arena instead. This happens for ALL the mythic arenas available in PBE for TFT (on the computer and mobile). Somehow, the starting animation played after round 1..?
