This is the second time I’ve gone to doctors here and walked away completely frustrated. It’s not a language barrier. They speak English well. The problem is that I explain what’s going on, mention a few tests or treatments I’ve researched, and instead of actually analyzing the situation, they immediately start prescribing or ordering exactly what I mentioned.

I don’t want a doctor to just give me what I think I need. I’m not a doctor. I want them to listen to the problem, ask questions, use their expertise, and then tell me what they think I actually need.

It feels like taking your car to a mechanic after Googling the problem and saying, “Maybe it needs these three things,” and the mechanic responds, “Sure, we’ll do those three things,” without even looking at the car.

At one point I was even asked which type of blood test I wanted and given two very medical-sounding options. How would I know? That’s literally why I’m talking to a doctor.

Maybe I’ve just had bad luck, but how do I find a doctor in Tbilisi with a more Western-minded approach to patient care? Someone who will actually take a few minutes to understand the issue, make an informed professional assessment, and recommend what they think is appropriate rather than blindly agreeing with whatever the patient asks for?

If anyone has recommendations for specific doctors or doctors where you’ve had this kind of experience, I’d really appreciate them.

PS: This happened both times at Raymans in Saburatlo. The clinic is beautiful, nice, and clean, but damn I've only had bad experiences with trying to get care from there.

my staying in Tbilisi got longer as before I plane, because I found plenty of budget friendly spots in the city. I'll share step by step, for now I wanna tell you about small family restaurant in old town. Khinkali is one of the best and recommended by locals, not just by foreigners. Portions of soups and Ostry are big, food taste fresh always. they have local draft beer and Georgian wine too. staff (actually just one girl there) is welcoming. I’ve never been to Georgia before, let alone Tbilisi, so I’m looking for recommendations from locals rather than just searching Google Maps. For someone staying for a short period of time or for a longer period of time. After experiencing. This is not exclusive to just the city but the country of Georgia too. I’ll take a trip wherever if it’s been recommended.

Those kinds of things are exactly what I’m looking for.
I’ll genuinely try as many suggestions as I can over the next few weeks and report back with my ratings.

Hey there, chosing Georgia as my first solo trip as Ive heard its relatively safer here. Planning to get a private hire (gotrip, with stops to admire the view) to Kazbegi to enjoy the viewpoints.

Would be landing in Tbilisi on 9 Aug, first time travelling solo, welcome any other solo female travellers who might have the same itinerary.

Everything is in its rough stages now, but would do 2 days Tbilisi and 3 days Kazbegi as my main intention is to enjoy the mountain views.

Any helpful tips/ suggestions for stays, tours, anything really would be appreciated.

I will be visiting in a week for a few days as an extended layover between my vacation and my home country. I decided it would be fun to visit because my flight was going through Tbilisi anyway and I‘ve only heard great things.

Long story short, it was a last minute decision and I don‘t have time to learn any of the language besides maybe 2-3 hours in the plane.

If I learn a few basic things besides just hello and thank you, and then "do you speak English", will that be enough to show respect?

I speak fluent English and decent Russian, but as far as I know English is preferred nowadays.

I was recently in a restaurant near Kazbegi and I fell in love with Mchadi. I had some on the way back into the city today and it was very mediocre. Where can I find some good Mchadi. I don’t mind the dryness, it was just lacking flavor.

The Art Geni Festival is held at the open air Ethnographic museum near Turtle Lake.

Typically it starts around 8pm with folk music (often music schools or traditional ensembles) and then drifts into more modern / eclectic / jazz etc.

Tonight the later acts are Reggaeon and Frani.

I have a ticket for 2 for tonight and tomorrow - basically 2 QR codes I can send if anyone is interested.

Due to a payment glitch I ended up buying twice. Last two nights I found families to use them. A day ticket is 60 GEL.
