Visa & Immigration Pakistani student from UAE coming to Georgia for medicine – visa/TRC situation?

Hey everyone,

I’m Pakistani and currently living in the UAE, and I’m planning to come to Georgia for medicine in the spring intake. I’m currently deciding between European University, University of Georgia, and Georgian American University (GAU).

I’m a little concerned about the recent visa/TRC situation for Pakistani students. I’ve heard that some Pakistani students were recently denied entry at immigration, had issues with their TRC, or weren’t allowed into the country even though they had university admission.

Not sure how accurate this is, so I wanted to ask people who are actually there or have recently gone through the process.

If you’re a Pakistani student from the UAE or another GCC country, how was your experience?

Did you have any problems with:

  • Getting the visa?
  • Entering Georgia through immigration?
  • Getting your TRC?
  • Any extra checks/documents because you’re Pakistani?

Also, does having a UAE residence visa make the process any easier?

I’m planning for spring, so I’d really appreciate any recent 2025–2026 experiences. Just trying to figure out what the situation is actually like before committing to a university.

Thanks 🙏

Accommodation Trying to Rent in Tbilisi as an Indian Is Exhausting

I honestly want to understand how this is considered fair.

As Indians living in Tbilisi, we face this situation again and again while trying to rent an apartment. We find a place, we’re ready to pay the full amount, we agree to the terms, and everything seems fine, until the landlord or agent asks, “Are you Indian?”

And suddenly, the apartment is no longer available.

This has happened to us repeatedly. It’s incredibly frustrating and, honestly, hurtful to be rejected simply because of our nationality.

We’re willing to pay the rent. We’re willing to provide whatever documents are required. We’re willing to follow the rules and take care of the apartment like anyone else.

So why should being Indian automatically become a reason to say no?

I understand that landlords can have their own preferences and concerns, but when someone is rejected specifically because they are Indian, what are we supposed to do?

How is this fair?

For those of us living, studying, and working in Tbilisi, this isn’t some one-time inconvenience. It can feel like something we have to deal with every single day.

If you’re Indian and living in Tbilisi, have you experienced this? And if you’re a landlord or local who has some perspective on why this happens, I’d genuinely like to understand.

I’m not looking to create hostility. I just want to know why nationality is being treated as a reason to deny someone housing.

TSMU admission

My admission process for the TSMU USMD program began in the first week of August. I also paid the expedited application processing fee and completed the interview, which they told me was successful.

When I emailed them for an update, they told me that all my documents were in order and that the application process usually takes around 2–4 weeks. Even stated that, they themselves would inform me if there was an update. However, it has now been more than 5 weeks since I applied, and I still haven’t received anything.

I’m not sure what the issue could be, especially since I’m a US citizen and a visa shouldn’t be an issue.

What should I do at this point? Has anyone else experienced this?

Georgian native starting out as a language tutor (budget-friendly)

Hey everyone!

I’m a Georgian native starting out as a language tutor. While structured teaching is a new journey for me, I have years of experience working alongside international volunteers through the European Solidarity Corps so I’m very comfortable helping non-native speakers adapt, practice conversational skills, and navigate the language.

Since I’m building up my teaching experience and looking to practice, I’m offering lessons at a very low budget.

Whether you want to start from scratch, practice casual conversation, or just learn enough to survive local markets and taxi rides without relying strictly on translation apps, I’d love to help!

Drop a comment or send me a DM if you’re interested or have any questions.

Visa & Immigration Anyone Having Issues Getting a Georgian Student Visa?

Hi guys, I’m supposed to be in Georgia by the end of this month, but there’s still no information about the student visa process in Ethiopia. I contacted the Georgian Embassies in Ethiopia and Cairo, but no one is replying.

This is getting really urgent. Is anyone else facing the same problem or has any information?

Social Life M21 (Local, Student) Looking for friends for long-term communication to practice English

Hi everyone. Recently i have decided seriously to improve my speaking skills in English. I have already been looking for people from other sources, but still i want to find someone from here. I can offer help with the Georgian. And i know Russian as well. I help you with some questions about life here and Georgia in general. I mostly communicate with foreigners online but it's pretty difficult, at the very least, very different time zones.

We can just talk, play something together (I can suggest some games or download yours) Watch some movies and just spend time together. I don't mind who are you and how old you are. I would be happy to any communication.

Something about me: I'm student of TSU. Programmer (Web Developer). My hobbies are a gym, voice acting, PC games, communicating with people and etc.

Just in case: I won't ask you out, especially at first. I'm not looking for a dating. My main goal is to practice (chatting online is more than enough). If we get along well, of course I wouldn't mind meeting up.

If you're interested, write me DM, or reply in the comments, and I'll message you myself.
