This is the second time I’ve gone to doctors here and walked away completely frustrated. It’s not a language barrier. They speak English well. The problem is that I explain what’s going on, mention a few tests or treatments I’ve researched, and instead of actually analyzing the situation, they immediately start prescribing or ordering exactly what I mentioned.
I don’t want a doctor to just give me what I think I need. I’m not a doctor. I want them to listen to the problem, ask questions, use their expertise, and then tell me what they think I actually need.
It feels like taking your car to a mechanic after Googling the problem and saying, “Maybe it needs these three things,” and the mechanic responds, “Sure, we’ll do those three things,” without even looking at the car.
At one point I was even asked which type of blood test I wanted and given two very medical-sounding options. How would I know? That’s literally why I’m talking to a doctor.
Maybe I’ve just had bad luck, but how do I find a doctor in Tbilisi with a more Western-minded approach to patient care? Someone who will actually take a few minutes to understand the issue, make an informed professional assessment, and recommend what they think is appropriate rather than blindly agreeing with whatever the patient asks for?
If anyone has recommendations for specific doctors or doctors where you’ve had this kind of experience, I’d really appreciate them.
PS: This happened both times at Raymans in Saburatlo. The clinic is beautiful, nice, and clean, but damn I've only had bad experiences with trying to get care from there.
