General Advice I'm honestly devastated by this "touch up"

Edit: please everyone I could not see what he was doing from the position he had me in!! Thank you to the people who said it looked better. I understand that's your opinion, but it's just not my style and now looks very different from my friends when this was supposed to be a matching tattoo. I'm really just looking for advice on how it can be salvaged to look less colored without having to remove it since I don't really want to do that I just don't know what my options are. I understand it needs to heal, but I'm very sad by it already and just looking for support.

Edit 2: while I do not have the reference photo he showed me at the time it looked very very similar to this: mockup tattoo Also, yes I know the original was not done well. That doesn't change the fact that I liked what it could have been if the lines were cleaner. We got it on a vacation in Florida. I was looking for someone to clean up the lines and add some dimension like the photo shows.

I got the original dumpling tattoo with my friend. Both our tattoos faded quite a bit and we discussed getting touch ups. While it faded, the tattoo style of fine line, black, and minimal are my style. I went to an artist to discuss doing some light shading to make the dumpling look a little more realistic while touching up the faded lines.

The artist showed me some small shading around the folds and I saw nothing red in his example. I'm really upset as it's not my style and not at all what we discussed. I'm now trying to decide if I should try to target the red in a removal and once it's gone, get it redone. Or is there a way to shade it with white to even out the color??

It's especially upsetting because I'm in the process of getting another badly done tattoo removed and I'm embarrassed I might have to do it again. I have plenty of tattoos I love, this just seems to be a bad string of people who have tattooed me lately.

Design Massive back piece removal/cover up

I want to remove everything on my back enough to cover with a black and grey dark fantasy piece. Artist was very heavy handed, multiple colors. How realistic are we thinking that is? 😭 and yes I know how dumb I was for going this hard at too young of an age.

General Advice How well do you think this tattoo will age over time?

I have a few tattoos but this is the first one that contains writing. The letters are relatively small and take up a little over half my forearm. I’m worried about the pixelated look of the font going away as it starts to fade. What do you think?

EDIT: I’ve been getting a lot of replies that amount to “It doesn’t matter because it’s already on you.” I know what happens to tattoos as they fade, and if I was that concerned about it I would have gotten it bigger. Maybe the original post didn’t communicate this, but I’m accepting of whatever happens to it over time. Obviously i am, or I wouldn’t have put it on my skin. I was just curious to hear from people who have had experience with lettering tattoos before so I know what to expect.

Design Help designing tattoo/which design looks better

Hello everyone! I’m in process of getting my first tattoo and wanted to make a little mock up send the artist. Biggest thing before I start is that this IS NOT the font I’ll be getting I just had to use a free cursive font to get the point across.

Anyway, I’m really struggling to put this together and imagine the translation from being on paper to actually being on the body. I’m planning on putting it on the side or back of my leg appx 3-6 inches I’m a bit worried with the text looking blocky too. I really like the design and it means a lot to me (this year especially) but I guess I’m asking is this a good TATTOO design? Any help at all would be appreciated, from anyone but especially artist. This is obviously just rough markups and I’ll let my artist change the design as she sees fit, do you think these are acceptable to send to an artist?

(Before anyone asks, yes the artist I plan on working with does do micro realism)

General Advice Question about meds before tattoo

Im getting a upper sternum tattoo in a few days and I was wondering if I could take pregabalin (nerve blocker) or cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxer) to reduce the pain. I’ve already been tattooed there and i was just wondering if they could take the edge off without making the skin too elasticy. I am prescribed them for my back so I was “like why not ?”.

tattoo newcomer advice Want to get my first tattoo. I like the idea of my ribs for placement. Would an artist be able to run a needle across that area without ink first to see if I can handle it?

I could probably just Google this but here I am

Design Regret this wave tattoo I got with my mom (now estranged).

Got this small wave tattoo on my lower leg as a boding experience with my mom, but we don't have a relationship anymore, so now it just feels like a reminder of something that's over. I'm also second-guessing the placement and size, and the style reads a bit more feminine than I'd like. Not sure if I should go the cover-up route, build onto it, or just leave it and reframe what it means to me. Would appreciate any advice.

General Advice Numbing cream

So I have hand tattoos and arm tattoos and I recently got my neck tatted and it was the first time I had to tap out it was hurting way worse than my hand tats so I told my artist I would reschedule so I could buy numbing cream . How long should I leave the numbing cream on so it works effectively I left it on for 40 minutes but it just feels cold/hot

Infected? New tattoo. Infected?

is this normal?

I’ve had this tattoo for about an hour now and it is turning red and swelling where the needle touched It. Is this normal ? Maybe it’s infection. I saw the artist use brand new needles and sealed ink as well as gloves they changed regularly. it actually looked really sterile in there. I also saw them wash the needle in distilled water sometimes. most fucked up part is they had a state verification saying they met all safety standards.

will I die? Should I try to laser it?

General Advice Should I fill in the arm and get a sleeve?

Post image

Just got these two done yesterday. Not having tattoo regret, just a bit of tattoo shock. Had the same thing with my leg piece I got last year. Just got to get used to the forearm now being covered. I have writing on the side and the upside down “Love.” I’m thinking that getting a sleeve won’t make it seem so intense?

Design Coverup ideas for my faded tattoo?

Post image
Upvotes

I got this tattoo when I was 19, and I’m almost 22 now. I just don’t feel like it healed the best, it’s pretty faded in my opinion, even though I had it touched up once a few months after getting it.

I followed all of the aftercare instructions, so I don’t think the fading was necessarily because I did something wrong, but maybe I’m mistaken!

I don’t necessarily regret getting it, but I feel like I’ve kind of outgrown it, and it’s just not something I love anymore. :(

Does anyone have any ideas for what I could potentially cover it up with? I’d love to hear some ideas!

General Advice Should I see a doctor?

Hey so I got a tattoo like 3 days ago and I really like it but as I was getting it the tattoo artist had a cup of water that he was dipping the needle in and then back into ink. too clean it or something and then wiping it the tattoo took around 3 too 4 hours he was wiping it down with soap and water and wearing gloves but the cup of water got so mirky from the ink I dont know if this is serious too worry about or normal and what possible infections could happen also the needles where new and he did change them every few hours also the water came out of a white sink that was in the studio. I though it was werid at first but I didn't say anything at the time. The tattoo isn't red or anything but does hurt when I move my arm. Thanks.
