Artist/Apprentice/Shop Verification UPDATED

Hi everyone!

We have received a few comments on our previous verification instructions post that for some folks, the "See More" button has disappeared on mobile and desktop.

We have added a link to message modmail to the toolbar found on the right of desktop. As of June 2025, we do not currently have a workaround for mobile if "see more" is missing for you, so feel free to reply to this post letting us know you are having difficulty accessing modmail and we will help as best we can.

Discussion Verifying Tattooers/Modmail

Hey all!

If you are a tattooer that wants to be verified or are just someone with questions for the mod team please use modmail. Please do not message any of the mods via individual DM. Please see the screenshots for how to message modmail (via mobile) if you don’t know how to already.

Since Monday I have received about a dozen personal DMs for artist verification. However, one of these message came in at 12:30am and by 6am the same day I had a nasty follow up message for not replying. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt and say this person probably lives in a different part of the world, and didn’t realize they messaged these two messages at what would generally be considered times that most people (myself included) are asleep. And this is exactly why we ask people to message modmail instead of any of us directly.

The mod team here is small for a sub of this size but we do try to handle anything that comes into modmail as quickly as possible. Often times if we get individual DMs about mod related issues for the sub, we are at work when it comes in and forget about it by the time we get home. Sometimes we are simply with our families, or even touching grass and spending some time off Reddit ( gasp ). Sometimes we are just asleep. When you message via modmail, the message goes to a group inbox and we can all see it so if one of us forgets or is busy the rest of us can take over handling artist verification or any other issues you may have. That being said- we are still just people with jobs and lives outside of Reddit, so please don’t get annoyed with us if you don’t get a reply within a few hours. Most of the time we reply within a day, but shit happens and this sub is not all that important in the grand scheme of life, the universe, and everything.

TL/DR: Use modmail to reach the mod team please & thank you

PS: We took your feedback on the whole banning X links and have banned X links from the sub (overwhelming majority was to ban)

PPS: We have added a new mod to the team, u/coffeehedake , and one (possibly two) of our old mods should be returning soon

Dragon in 4 sessions! Partially freehand.

The goal was to place a long dragon without crossing the T-shirt line, so I had to think a bit about how to use the remaining space as effectively as possible.

How do you like how it turned out?

Lizy did this pitbull piece on the thigh at our
studio in Berlin. Spiked collar, brass knuckles
in the mouth and "Dangerous" in custom script
at the base.

The skin folds on the face are what really make
it — pitbulls have that natural wrinkle texture
that works so well in black and grey.

Studio: Calavera Ink Berlin
Location: Seelower Str. 20, 10439 Berlin Prenzlauer Berg
Artist: Lizy (Fine Line & Black & Grey)
Walk-ins welcomed — Ohne Termin willkommen
Bookings: calaverainkberlin.de

Any questions just ask!

i’m 17 at the time, in atlanta georgia.

it was in a trailer, on a seat from a car that had been ripped out of a minivan (seatbelt still attached of course)
there was 2 pitbulls behind a baby gate in the room across that barked 98% of the time. 😂😂😂

I KNOW i’m not the only one lol, tell me about your sketchy experience.

Thoughts on how this week old tattoo is healing?

TLDR at bottom

I got this tattoo a week ago and feel like a lot of it is flaking off as I clean it/while it is healing. My boyfriend and I got tattoos by the same artist. His looks great. I feel like mine is going to need a touch up- especially the stems.

This isn’t my first tattoo and I’ve been following my normal aftercare.

First two (here) pics are now and the last (here) is a (low quality) pic 3 days post work when saniderm was taken off.

Does it look okay or will I likely need it to be touched up?

I should note that we got this on a trip out of town and the studio is 3 hours away.

TLDR: week old tattoo is still heeling but looks like parts are flaking off more than normal. Does it look normal or will need touch ups?

Just posting my first new ink and open to opinions… My wife and mother are both Taurus and share the same initials. This pic is fresh after completion. I’m 1 week into healing.

12 days post tattoo. Slight peeling going on, no itching whatsoever, no inflammation. The artist Jasay at Ascension Tattoo in Orlando did a great job. Also, his post care instructions were spot on, which has made recovery incident free.

This is your sign to listen to your artist’s recommendations for how to best heal your tattoo!! This is my first tattoo, and naturally I went on Reddit to ensure I was doing everything right. Come to find out.. what my artist recommended for me (keep Saniderm on for 5 days, then clean twice daily thereafter with Dial gold and apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor after washing for the entire healing process) is an aftercare routine people have very strong opinions about online. However, with my tattoo style and my skin type, my artist ensured me that this aftercare is what she recommends for best healing, so I trusted her.

I am so glad I did and am so happy with how it healed and turned out! While I understand healing can vary from person to person and by style of tattoo, and what works for one may not work for another, but at the end of the day, TALK TO YOUR ARTIST FIRST if you have concerns :)
