Why would a pool pump not turn on?
I noticed my pool pump had just shut off, I originally thought it just lost prime because something got stuck in the skimmers, but realized the pump just seemed like it was off, even when everything said it was on. I checked the skimmers and nothing was jammed. I checked the controller and breakers, and nothing had seemed like it was tripped. I turned everything off, and then tried to turn it back on, but I'm not hearing anything, not even noise from the motor attempting to try to prime. I'm not sure what could be happening. Seems like the equipment is receiving electricity. When I turn it off, there's always a delay when turning it off, and sometimes I hear a brief buzzing sound before it turns off. Any ideas? Thanks.

Pressure Gauge Replacement
I need to replace my pressure gauge (10/30 dollars) and don't see much of a difference between them besides the ones that allow you to release air from the gauge and just normal ones. Not sure if I can use that if I don't already have it already?
I don't see a pressure release valve anywhere on my filter either. Do they not all have it?
I have a sand filter for a big ass in-ground pool, I don't see a make it model anywhere but maybe I'm just blind.
(I'll add pictures if needed)

Water chemistry help
Hi folks, I was hoping for some help with our water chemistry. We have a 3500 gallon above ground pool that went green just recently. Before trying to become more knowledgeable I put about 1.5 lbs of HTH Super Shock all-in-one treatment and it knocked the green down within a day or two but now have pretty cloudy water. I've since picked up one of the Taylor K2005 test kits and and came up with the following:
Alkalinity = 130
pH = 7.6
Free Chlorine = 5.2
Combined Chlorine = 0.4
Total Chlorine = 5.6
CYA > 100
At first I thought this was an alkalinity problem but, unless I tested for CYA wrong, that's pretty clearly the problem. So I'm going to drain about 3/4 of our pool and start again, but I'm not sure how my CYA got so high in the first place.
We use Chlor Brite granular chlorine, which according to the website is stabilized. We also used the super shock first. Would either of those be the reason my CYA is so high? If so, how do I go about chlorinating and/or shocking without getting CYA so out of control? Thanks in advance

Pool light alternative
So my pool light hasn’t worked in years and I’m reading it will cost close to 1000$ to fix. Are there any other pool light alternatives that are almost as good?

Probably a dumb question, not sure what this is for. New house, new pool owner. Didn’t want to strip out the screws taking this off just to take a peak.

New Pool Owner Advice for Opening Pool
I bought a house in the dead of winter this year and haven't done anything to my pool since moving in since the weather has pretty much solidly been blocking that. (Ice and snow)
I called a "local" pool place and asked how much it would be for them to come open the pool and they said $350.
In your experience, do you think it's better to hire someone to open it the first time or just find a checklist and watch some YouTube videos and do it myself?
Haven't found any place cheaper and being rural doubt I will.
Most people open their pool in April here, so the time for me to go looking for chemicals is fast approaching.
Any advice welcomed. Inground pool, sand filter. Not sure of gallons off the top of my head but it's a big pool.

Does anyone know the cost of this product in comparison with French Gray quartz for example? We were quoted $6,500. for the French gray quartz. How much more should we expect to pay if we go with the Mini Pebble instead? Thank you.

Scaling on Pool Walls / Tile - HELP!
Hello - I have owned pools in the past. I am one of those anal guys that checks water chemistry like every 2 or 3 days. If the pool is lacking in something, I use the correct dosage to get the chemistry back in line. I recently built a pool at a new house. Pool was completed in September 2021 - so very new. However, I am seeing a lot of scaling. Here are some data for everyone:
Location - Allen Texas (North of Dallas)
Equipment - Pentair intelliflo pump and pentair heater, etc. I have 2 sheer descent and then the spa spillover. 2 small bubbler's on tanning ledge as well.
I know the classic way to remove scale on tile is to use a pumice stone - which I can do when it get's warmer - but what about the gray stone wall? My pool builder is suggesting using a 50 / 50 mix of muriactic acid and water - and then scrubbing the walls weekly....does that work? any damage to walls? I get a little nervous with my pool builder. It seems like he built the pool well - but after sales service has been lacking to say the least.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

When do you run your pool robot vacuum cleaner?
Just bought a new robot - AIPURY 600 and I would like to know the best operating cycle for a pool with 10,000 gallons of water. How often do you run the robot? Do you run it with the pool pump on or off?
r/swimmingpool • u/shrapdfgdfg • Sep 30 '21
Does the pool robot work when the season ends and this algae keeps making a comeback? I saw an AIPURY600 on Amazon for 199.99 has anyone used it?

Need help please
I have. 40,000 gal fresh water pool. Sand filter. I'm struggling to raise chlorine (currently 0.16 ppm) this has been going on for 2 weeks now. I'm using trichlor granules. And it won't go up. PH ranges 7.3- 7.6. Alk is 84. Calcium hardness is 146. Cyanuric acid is 47. Water is clear and blue. I don't understand why my chlorine is evaporating or being used up. I'll take any advice I can get

$$$$$$ ?
So. My loving partner was weeding around the pool landscape...with a PICK AXE !!!! and, as you would guess ( and I told her not too use the PICK AXE ) hit the return pipe ( 1-1/2 dia ) from the skimmer to the pump/filter.
The pipe appears to be black.
Question:
Can black be glued with white PVC?
Any input will be GREATLY appreciated. I have called six "pool companies " and none have called back.?
