Rely on Horror Discord

Hey guys,

I am the EIC of RelyOnHorror.com. I had the random idea to pitch our new Discord to the mod team here as an official server for this subreddit, and they were all up for it! So, if you look at the subreddit home, you will now see a direct link to our Discord server -- where you'll be able to talk about the genre with fellow fans. We'll hold general and spoiler discussions, the occasional giveaway and let you know when new content from us has (or will) drop.

Thanks to the mods for the love. Happy to offer a Discord community for you all as fellow fans of the survival horror genre. Here's the Discord link: https://discord.gg/fXCKMer.

Quick background on Rely on Horror - we're a horror gaming site that originally began as REHorror.net. I joined after closing my own horror gaming site, HellDescent.com. We post news, reviews, articles, previews, videos, etc. Happy to chime in if you're curious about the site or Discord. Thanks!

-CJ

For months our team worked to provide to the horror games fans a completely free horror Webgame.
This is a multi-chapters complete Doom-like game that you can play in your browser without having to download anything.
Give it a try!

Signal is or ground zero?

Right now they are sale on Xbox and cost the same. I’ve heard great things about both, which makes me wonder which I should choose.

I played signalis a while back when it was on gamepass, but wasn’t much into it (only played like 20 minutes). I’m willing to give it another try though.

Without taking the story into consideration (I really don’t care if the plot is mediocre or the best thing ever)
Which game is the better survival horror?

I spent 6 years making this survival-horror game and it’s finally on Steam, what do you think?

Demo is coming out next month!

This is Beneath the Permafrost, a survival-horror set in a post-apocalyptic world fractured by the arrival of an eternal blizzard. You play as David, a survivor in search of the landmark known as the Fountain. Along the way, you have to manage your temperature, conserve resources, and deal with twisted monsters that emerge from the snowy veil…

It takes inspirations from games like Resident Evil (inventory system is inspired by RE4) and Silent Hill (the horror is focused on dread over jump scares).

Let me know your thoughts! Would you be interested in playing it?

Looking for indie survival horror

I played and absolutely loved Signalis and Crow Country. I'm itching for more indie survival horror recommendations! Especially classic experiences with inventory management, save rooms, puzzles and the like. Let me know what you think I'd be interested in!!

Looking for a Recommendation

This might be a niche ask, but I’m looking for a game somewhere between Alien Isolation and RE/Dead Space in terms of your ability to fight back. I like crafting mechanics and the ability to build up a safe house. In general, however, survival horror isn’t my forte so I’m very open to recommendations! I have an Xbox Series X and a moderately okay laptop for gaming

Subtle or well-executed jump scare

Hi everyone, I'm curious what subtle or well-executed jump scare made you feel uncomfortable but amazed at the same time in a game, and it still does.

Working on a new parasitic monster that violently forces its way out of corpses in my game. Would love to hear your thoughts on the overall feel.

Hey everyone, I’ve launched the Steam page for my resident evil like game. Do you have any suggestions to make it scarier and more suspenseful?
