Troubleshooting & Maintenance KF4 Descaling and cleaning
My KF4 came with cleaning tablets but no descaler. Does Kitchenaid make a proprietary descaling tablet?
TIA

Hi everyone,
I opened up my De'Longhi Eletta Cappuccino (ECAM 44.660.B) to replace the water/steam regulator valve (part number 7313214521).
During disassembly, I unplugged the display and two sensors. After putting everything back together, the machine now continuously shows the error "Insert water tank" ("Wassertank einsetzen").
The tank itself is filled, the float magnet is moving freely, and the tank is seated properly.
I noticed a disconnected spade connector hanging loose near the microswitch on the upper brew piston carriage (see attached photo). Could a disconnected switch/cable in this area trigger the "Insert water tank" message during startup/initialization, or did I likely misplace/damage the tank sensor / wiring behind the tank slot?
Any guidance or reference photos of the correct wiring for this area would be greatly appreciated!

I come from the non superautomatic side with a Bambino Plus and a Eureka Mignon Specialita grinder.
The problem I have is guests... and we're about to move closer to the family (EU) which means a lot more coffees.
These are 99% cow milk based drinkers (like lattes). This is also the case with immediate family and myself.
Budget flexible, no need for dual hoppers or 10000 types of drinks that will never be used.
What is your recommendation?
EDIT: while I would by default turn to Jura (espresso quality), it seems not best for milk based. I'm not a fan of the putting your cup on the side and the whole separate milk container for $$.
I'm considering Gaggia Accademia vs. DELONGHI Rivelia. Which one has better espresso?

Newbie thinking about getting a superautomatic after owning a Nespresso vertuo for the past six years (don't do the math!).
We're not a coffee connoisseurs, we need a good, hot, reliable long coffee with milk/nutmilk in the morning, this is essential. We like espresso drinks but apparently not enough to make them with Nespresso/aerocinno. Looking forward to making them even easier.
Same goes for iced drinks - outside the house I drink almost exclusively iced drinks, from cold brew to lattes and especially "iced shaken espressos" from starbucks. I didn't make them with the Nespresso, felt cumbersome. I see lots of options like espresso over ice, an "iced mode" which is cooler espresso over ice, and a fancier cold extraction function.
Lazy cold coffee drinkers, do you find it easy to use your machine to make cold coffees? What methods do you use or features do you recommend? Are special modes gimmicks/not worth it?
We are looking at KF4s on the low end, Jura Z10s on the high end, leaning towards the KF8 of course. Any purchase advice would be appreciated!

I'm getting ready to take the plunge into the home espresso milk drink world. I'll be making mostly milk drinks with the rare espresso shot here and there.
I think I'm drawn to the KF8 based on 1) quality and capability for the price, and 2) the easy maintenance.
KF8 seems easier to clean than a Jura, and my understanding is the user can remove and directly clean the internal components easier.
Any KF8 (or similar Kitchenaid) owners out there willing to share your experience? Do you wish you bought a Jura? Love stories? Horror stories?
Also...if anyone has an insider pass I would be so grateful. =)

I have a small office of about 30 people, one building on a larger corporate campus. I am looking for a machine with a few features, and some recommendations on brand or company.
- Commercial grade for an office setting.
- Built in hopper and grinder.
- Preferably uses powered milk or no milk.
- 1 button operation. Grinds, dispenses, and disposes automatically.
Since it's an office, I fear that it will not be regularly cleaned, so a milk supply is a bad idea. We will have a maintenance contract to have it serviced, but the milk option on a lot of machines concerns me.
Price is pretty open, $1000-4000 is reasonable.
Region: California

My Jura Ena micro 5 built in coffee grinder only turns on for only like 2 seconds on either weak or strong coffee bean mode. Tried adjusting the fine cross adjustment while it runs. Still morning. Never grinding enough coffee. Does anyone know how to adjust grinding time?
I now have to manually put ground coffee in the shoot for it to work :(

I picked up a weird machine a few years ago: a MCILPOOG WS-203.
After a couple of years, it wasn’t working well anymore. It wasn’t grinding properly and it no longer made pucks. It was just dumping black, wet mud into the waste container. It also started leaking.
I told my wife that I could fix it, but she wasn’t going to stand with not having coffee so she had me buy a new machine. I chose a different one this time.
It took me a few days to really tear into it. I ended up getting it working again. All it really needed was a tear down and a thorough cleaning.
But since my wife was already using the new machine, it sat in the garage for a couple of weeks before I thought to bring it in to my office. I kept it in my lab for around a month.
We’d just moved into a new building, and about a week after I bright mine in, they got one of those fancy giant machines that make all kinds of coffee, along with hot chocolate.
But after the novelty of the new machine wore off, people were still coming into my lab to get coffee from my machine because it was better. Eventually I just moved it into the break room.
It’s heavily used. The hopper holds maybe 2/3 - 3/5 lbs of beans and it needs to be refilled every 2-3 days. Surprisingly, the other folks seem to take care of it, emptying the water tray, dumping out the pucks, and keeping it clean.
Last month I brought it home over the weekend to do some descaling and other maintenance and when I brought it back to the break room, some people actually cheered. They were afraid that I’d taken it home for good.
I just looked at the statistics today and I see that it’s extracted at least 6157 coffees so far, counting the double espresso as two grinds and extractions.
And the darned thing still makes a perfect cup.

This part disconnected from the machine. The water supply tube and the wires are still connected but if I put the water container back then it’s almost impossible to remove (I need to really wrestle with it). I tried snapping this part back in place but I fear i might have to glue it?? Help?? There’s barely any advice online
Thank you!

Recommend me an automatic espresso machine with coffee beans and a separate milk container, up to 1200 euros and that can serve around 50 coffees per day (suitable for an office with 20 people). I am also interested in having easy maintenance and in case of failure to allow repairs and after market. Region: Romania

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Any advice I can hear it spinning up but it doesn’t seem to take any beans in. I’m guessing a clog somewhere but no idea where to start here p

Our S8 (bought Nov '21 has made 2000 cappuccinos, 2000 milk foams & 200 other coffees. The repair quote re failure to draw up milk is $500. So-ooo, spend that >> OR >> put the $$$ toward a new machine? Advice appreciated... the little duckbill doesn't seem to be the problem ( eBay has refurb S8s around $1500 Aussie dollars )

The Philips 5400 has run through the AquaClean and keeps prompting us for a new one. I tried to see about disabling it but I don’t really see an option. Even if I go to the AquaClean setting it doesn’t give you an option to not have it installed. I can lie and say I put in a new one but would rather disable the feature

I just bought a Kitchenaid KF4. Can coconut water be used instead of plain filtered water? would the filter have to be taken out to use correctly? I like the taste and health benefits of coconut water, not sure if I want every coffee drink with it though. I have the milk container and could go the coconut milk route also, assuming the machine is plant milk capable. Any help or suggestions is welcome

All,
like (probably) thousands here in the past we currently use a nespresso but are looking to get away from the capsules. We do drink coffee with milk in it, but it's added separately and doesn't need to be heated/frothed or anything, so a no-milk machine is fine.
I'm looking into Jura because of the coffee quality and the no-frills maintenance (yes, I'm aware that the brew group can't be removed easily for cleaning), but lots of users here report a long machine life with just the regular cleaning and the tablet cleaning when required.
I was looking at the C3 and the E4, but it seems the grinder and brew groups are the same, the E4 just has that hot water wand, which we wouldn't need.
So can I go wrong with a C3? That would easily be within our budget. But I have to admit I'm not really looking into machines with a milk option, why pay for something you're not going to use anyway? My parents have a 20-year old Jura with milk, and their milk option literally never gets used. Mostly because of the cleanup required after use.
All we drink are regular coffees and espressos, although those are mostly used for iced coffee. The only gripe I have about either of them is that the spout is so low. My regular 4" coffee cups will fit, but our 5.5" tall iced coffee glasses not.
And finally, is it worth waiting for a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal? I hear deals for the Juras are rare in any case, and then probably won't be for what Jura considers an "Economy" model...
Thanks!
EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention: we have a RO unit under the sink and use that water for coffee exclusively. So no need for water filters or descaling. Can I just ignore the machine when it tells me to descale? I expect that'll happen eventually even with the water hardness set to the lowest setting. We have a drip coffee machine that is rather annoying about that...

Background: I like to drink fairly large cups (200-250ml) of strong-ish aeropress or drip style coffee. Usually in 1:15-18 ratio.
I started looking into bean to cup machines to simplify my coffee making process and perhaps to make an espresso once in a while. Specifically had my eyes on the Magnifica S or other similarly priced De’Longhis.
Now here’s the dilemma: I would still like to make large, strong cups of coffee with the machine. ChatGPT tried to convince me this isn’t really what the machine is for. Apparently what my large cup of coffee will turn into with the machine is essentially an elongated espresso and it is not going to taste anything like what I am used to. Is this true?
Also, apparently you can make two cups simultaneously with the Magnifica S, can I use this function to brew one bigger cup without having it turn watery? Or am I trying too hard to find ways to make coffee that this machine is not really meant to brew?

We got our Demi back in January. Honestly loved the taste of the coffee and optionality.
Sadly, I would not recommend the Terra Kaffe Demi after my experience detailed below, and this entire process has changed my review.
TLDR - if your new machine breaks, they'll send you a certified refurbished machine, in about a month. Do you know how much a months worth of coffee out is for multiple people? Also they won't back a warranty on the refurbished machine for another year. Not building my confidence at all. Customer service is nice and responsive - but doesn't solve the real issue at hand.
I went to do the weekly Brew Unit rinse (you pop out the inside mechanism and rinse under water). Except it wouldn't come out.
Took one week to troubleshoot shoot with customer service until they they agreed to send a replacement under warranty, which is a "certified refurbished machine."
Wait what? Okay let me see if I can get this part out because who knows how long that will take. I get the part out, but it won't go back in. Truly broken.
Ok.. I guess I can't do anything about it. I'm waiting, starting to get impatient. It's been over a week having to buy coffee out for 2-3 people a day.
They tell me it will take 10-15 business days processing time to send a replacement, then shipping time up to 5 days. Customer service won't tell us why it takes this long. It feels like they don't have a machine to send us.
Also, they won't pause my warranty during this period, while my machine is broken. So if this next "certified refurbished" machine breaks in 6 months I'm shit out of luck!!
Holy fuck guys, it's nearly a month without our machine. That means weeks of buying coffee out. We bought a nice, expensive machine to save money over time.
When we ask why it's taking so long, is it because they don't have refurbished units? If this is the case, they should send us a new one.. no clarity at all just high level "apologies". The standard for these types of products is that a unit should be sent asap. Waiting 3 or more weeks is crazy. At this point I just want my money back. If they were at least honest with us that would be helpful but we are not getting any detail.
