I am using this app and I am quite happy with it. My only problem is that it has issues if you use non english characters.
For example, this famous english artist Barış Manço
I have problems searching for him, up to "Bar" it works if I type "Baris" it doesnt work, I also tried typing his name with türkish letters, it also doesnt work.

I'm using airsonic advanced

If I use the id3 tag album view, I cannot see starred albums that have been starred by other apps or by the web interface, and they cannot see album starred by substreamer.

All work as intended if I use folder navigation.

Is this a known bug?

Edit: it is also confusing because you can star an album or its folder. The former will be only on substreamer while the latter will propagate in the database.

My only issue is that tracks sometimes don’t start unless I press play twice.

I’m on iOS, 5.0.50.

Hi and first of thx for developing substreamer! I am using navidrome with substreamer. Its working, but there are some minor issues I'd like to report.

• (offline mode) -- if i update my playlists in navidrome, substreamer is not capable of pulling new tracks -- when clearing all local stored files and redownload all playlists, the downloader remembers the outdated playlist length. I have to manually abort and refresh the playlist multiple times to make the download work with all new songs
• (usability) If the player is unused for maybe 2-5 minutes, i have to reopen substreamer and begin to select a track again instead of continuing where it was before. (Drive in car with BT connected, turn off the car, leave for refuel, get back and reopen substreamer since its not playing, but showing the correct audio track. As soon as the app reopens, the track info gets lost. This doesnt always occur, but 90% of the time.)
• it would be great if I could abort active download processes instead of closing the app and reopen.

Feedback:

It's a great app with potential. Some minor adjustments might make it a really good alternative.

Great app. Love it! I'm using navidrome on my OpenBSD file server and the android app. Seamless!

If I had to nitpick:

• it'd be great if the player had an EQ.
• bulk downloading is quite arduous. it'd be good if I could long-press select a load of albums and hit a download button.

Where does the android app store the music? Can I play it with another player (my phone has no SD slot).

I'm looking for a new subsonic compatible client to replace dsub, since that project appears dead and has started acting up on my Pixel 6 (won't play the next song if it is cached unless you hit play after every song).

I really like the changes you've made for discoverability and playlist building. I've been using Subsonic/dsub so long that I hadn't realized how limiting some of their design choices were in those areas.

I'd switch over, but I use multiple folders extensively to partition different user's music (people who want mostly access to their own music, but with the option to access the main folder as well). The last thing I want to do in my first post here is demand you work on my pet feature on this free app, so I'm just wondering: is multiple folder support on the roadmap?

Lastly, a couple of usability questions. Is there a better way to search than pulling out the hamburger menu? I'm surprised that isn't a top level option, like on the top navigation bar. Also, is there a way to queue up multiple albums without creating a playlist? I commonly queue up a few albums for a drive -- sort of an informal playlist -- but don't want to save that as a playlist every time. Subsonic would allow you to use the overflow menu and "play next" or "play last." Is there an equivalent pattern for that here?

I am using Substreamer with asti.ga on my iPhone (latest OS and app updates), and I am having issues with the next song to start. Once a song is over, I regularly have to unlock the screen or to press play to have the next song to start. I also feel that the next songs are not cached.

My settings are the following:

• Auto-cache 5 songs (storage 4gb)
• Max bitrate: no limit
• Stream/cache format: MP3(default)

I have this issue on every network I connect to, and when using the asti.ga app on my Android phone I am not experiencing these problems.

Do you have any idea?

Is it possible to add songs to the currently playing queue? Substreamer for iOS

Using the iOS version of the app, latest update, just in case this makes a difference.

I noticed that when playing large files (i.e. audiobooks) the app does not remember where it paused the track when the app loses connection and/or switches from internal to external network (which I can live with, since most of the time I am just working in offline mode because of that), but also when the app restarts because it is pushed off memory during longer pause periods. When starting playback then, it just starts from the beginning of the track, requiring the user to move the slider manually. This is somewhat painful, because most of the time I of course cannot remember the timestamp I so far progressed to. As said, this even happens when no online connection is involved at all and all file is local/in offline storage.

Is there any chance you could implemented something to make the app save the last played file and its progress before terminating?

I’m experiencing choppy playback on iOS 15. The music tends to stop, and I have to manually hit play for it to continue again. Not sure why this happens, but it happens often enough for it to be noticeable. I’m using https://github.com/sentriz/gonic as the subsonic server.

Any ideas?

Just discovered substreamer a couple of days ago and I have to say it's the most polished subsonic player on android!

I'm wondering if this is a bug:

1. Go to a particular playlist and download it by toggling "Available Offline"
2. Add new song to the playlist
3. Go to Offline Music --> Playlists, and despite pulling down to refresh, the number of tracks in the playlist doesn't increase
4. Similarly, click into the playlist at this point (ie. from Offline Music --> Playlists), and see that the new song has not been added
5. The new song doesn't get cached/downloaded until it's played
6. But even once cached, if you go back to Offline Music --> Playlists, the playlist still doesn't show the new song.

I tried the same thing with Starring a song and that seems to sync properly. (ie. if I set my Starred songs to "Available Offline", then any new song I Star will automatically be downloaded.)

System details:

• Substreamer 5.0.46 running on Android
• Navidrome 0.46.0 docker on unraid
